While I have not watched the show it seems to me kind of obvious why they pick and choose where to abide by the rules and where not. If they always went by the rules the android would feel way less human, robotic which would make any kind of romantic subplot kind of creepy. But they sometimes go by the rules to remind us that he is in fact a robot and I have no doubt they use it for comedic purposes and to make him look cool. Whenever we have some kind of romance between human-robot, the robot is always almost indistinguishable from human cause it's just creepy, unrealistic otherwise. Did I get it right? :D Maybe it's just me, cause technology seriously concerns me.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I like your articles, they're a great conversation starter. :)

It's weird that most of the participants thought that you shouldn't write a review if you haven't finished the drama. I think arguments such as "what if it gets better" are most of the time irrelevant because it really doesn't happen. No writer, director, actor suddenly become good in the later part of a series. If you maybe enjoyed it more later on it's more thanks to your subjective views rather than how good it is overall. Feel free to disagree with me but I don't eve remember a drama that suddenly gets much better in the second half, although it can fluctuate. But what I see all the time is me watching dramas, foolishly hoping that they get better and they don't - I maybe get more accustomed to the pacing, maybe I get slightly attached to the characters because of the time I spent with them but the drama itself does not get better!
Edit: And I think overall if the people who did not manage to finish a drama because they though it was so bad are not allowed to voice their opinions it's like they don't really exist. Sure, there's the comment section, the overall score but a review is something much more than that - arguments. At least I take reviews more seriously than anything else. Not allowing people who did not finish a drama write reviews distorts the actual opinions people have.

A pretty good article. I'd say you can kind of summarize all of this by saying that we need realism and a bit of eccentricism (if that's even a word xd). Because REAL people are affected by the events they go through, real people doubt thus make decisions that seemingly don't go along with their usual self and most importantly they have goals because it's one of the most important things for humans in order to stay sane and happy - purpose - thank you for pointing it out, never really thought of that. My favorite kind of character is definitely bad people turning into good people to oversimplify it.
I'd just like to say one thing that opened my eyes after I heard a YouTuber state such opinion. He argues that chemistry between characters is just as or even more important than the characters themselves. I never looked at stories the same. It all makes sense if you look at it this way. Like BOF the characters individually are well bleh but the chemistry is definitely not bad and that's what keeps us going. But of course BOF is definitely not the best example. Sure chemistry and good characterisation kind of go hand in hand but two characters that separately are average can make a great pair. The best example I know of is Supernatural - the American TV series, if you even know it. The two main characters are brothers and then there is also their friend who is kind of a main too. And separately all of them are ok, pretty generic but they have very good chemistry - their interactions, dialogue, the way they care for eachother, act, live together - that's what's interesting and if you fixate on them as individuals you'll miss what they have to offer as a group.
And just in general - DIAGOLUE is sooo important, badly written dialogue can kill good characters real quickly. Then again is it even possible to have good characters with bad dialogue.... xd

Great review! Very informative but to the point - you can really see the whole picture of this drama after reading. :)

I did not manage to finish this even if the cheap trick of "keeping people watching because there's a mistery to be solved" really kept me going. Girl...this drama was the worst, I remember hating it but it was so boring that I even forgot why I hated it xd What I remember is that I found this "strong woman" rhetoric very annoying cause if someone is just literally strong then it's the most boring way to be "strong"...that makes sense right? :D

You know that you can add tags or even genres if you have a reasoning for doing that, right? :d

Review SOTUS
I had all of these complaint towards this show, too. The relationship was kind of forced, this hazing thing is just a cultural shock to the point where I can't tell how much of it is fiction...

Girl, same. I can't say very clearly why I dropped this, cause I was in a rough period and didn't write my usual angry rant after watching some shitty drama. But I remember feeling like the main couple had 0 chemistry and were boring af. And another thing that bothered me was how people went on about how "strong" the female lead was and like no??? I couldn't care less about females in dramas being literally strong if mentally they're kind of bleh. I'm so frustrated that I didn't note my thoughts on this drama because I had way more to say but now the only thing left while reminiscing of this drama is anger, I just feel angry while thinking about it :D

I like gender-bending dramas a whole lot, too, but that probably mostly stems from my obsession with BL. Seeing a guy falling in love with a "guy" and going crazy thinking that he's gay is the most entertaining and endearing thing. Seeing them admit that they love them even before they find out that they're actually a girl gives me life, in these moment I can truly feel the power of love :) That's one of the reasons why I don't really care about cosplaying them because I'm not really interested in how they look but more in the idea, the concept of the drama. But wearing loose clothes and not worrying about make up sure does sound nice! >,<
Btw, very interesting article, I appreciate the work you put into it! :)

I'm deeply thankful to You for creating this site and allowing the drama watchers community to have a home where we can stay, chat and have the time of our lives! Once I get a job I'll definitely donate. Poor student struggles right now xd

I really have a hard time understanding the censorship. In my country almost every tv show has some kind of "hot"…
One can not pose an opportunity for people to think freely If he wants to keep the power.
