definitely impatient to see all of them grow, especially yuan shen, ling buyi and shaoshang! our heroine has the biggest heart and it’s so nice she will maintain good relationships with all of them despite the up and down (can’t wait to see it portrayed in the drama), i definitely understand why they’ll all remain devoted to her in their own way! i’ll 100% read the book after part 2 will air 🤗

oh that’s really interesting; yuan shen growing up with parents who were ignoring each other and so was never able to know what is love in a couple and consequently was unable to give it to shaoshang who has been through her childhood desperate for love, however with his peaceful background and steady situation he was able to give her security and stability which is what she probably aimed for after the betrayal. ling buyi growing up with loving parents and so was able to instill that passion and love to shaoshang, since she never received any before she fell for him really hard and was never able to stop loving him. however with his tragic background, his situation was always unstable and it ended up by ruining things for their couple. but then five years later, his passion for her never left and so did her love for him despite the betrayal. so she will have to choose between stability but lack of passion or intense love but instability… if i got it right!

you’re 100% right after all he’s the only who never left her side and has been diligently pursuing her despite his bad tactics first 😂 and he will actually miss the wild shaoshang? so cute 😭 i definitely understand why you’re rooting for him and more people might be after everything that will happen with ling buyi and those 5 years… i’m guessing while reading the book yuen shen probably deserved to be with her more than our sexy dark ml

right! i really enjoy all the details you can spot if you’re being attentive (i tend to rewatch some scenes to not miss anything!) each character is very different and well-thought, the dialogues are on point for all of them (there is no “out of character” moment and it’s so delightful!) and no problem 😁
since i’m probably the only person in this comment section who enjoys his character -since hypocrite jerks like him are so funny to me, i’ll give tips for people to at least tolerate yuan shen a bit and actually have fun watching his scenes with shaoshang going against him.
yuan shen is a very (VERY) prideful man who seems to have never meet any obstacle in life, not only he’s handsome (popular with woman) and very cultivated, but he’s also from a privileged background, so this “perfect” highly arrogant man has been looking down on people probably since his childhood and believes he’s in a place where he can freely judge people around him. everyone is aware of what type of (bitchy) person he is, but his good looks, high background and perfect knowledges should -no matter what, always give him a smooth life, free of difficulties. and if he’s clearly able to keep a tight reign on everything in his life thanks to his infinite craftiness (which is known from everyone including qiqi’s father), there is one thing he couldn’t control: his heart. the moment he got confronted to shaoshang cleverness and her innocent looks, he has been obsessed with her the same way ling buyi and lou yao have, to me it’s even love at first sight for him, but did he realize how deeply he fell for her ? not at all. he’s aware he’s attracted to her despite her being the opposite of what he’s looking for in a wife but doesn’t know yet it’s already more than that. let’s not forget he threw his ball to her (which he apparently never did with any girl before), broke his previous engagements the day after, which shows that despite his constant mean words (any normal person would misunderstand his intentions, shaoshang first or maybe himself first lol) he seriously wants to pursue her and has been doing so since the first time he met her. except yuan shen is a jerk and not being rude would mean not being true to his personality 😹 and he’s even open about it in her presence, he knows what kind of (rude) person he is and doesn’t pretend to be kind with her CLEARLY (when we all know he should but he’s a Man and with a massive ego on top of that… so only by realizing how deep he actually fell for her will he start to change and i guess this is what we will see in part 2) now there is one point i want to mention: does he want shaoshang to change to meet his standards or is he not finding excuses to fight with her and meet her again and again? in his dreams he probably wish shaoshang could change, but also if he wanted an obedient wife totally into him and listening to every of his words without any disagreement he could just go for yangyang… because would such a haughty man, be willing to teach a person such a shaoshang? he already knows it’s hopeless with her, but since it allows him to spend time with her…. (something he has been trying to do endlessly). here is another thing: shaoshang rejected his advances from day 1, and did so again and again even when he was trying to be discreet about it (he invited her in his house to watch trees blooming) and not only his ego has been taking hits after hits (shaoshang being the first difficulty he meets in his life), but he’s not the only one to chase her, 2 others men from similar to higher backgrounds have been after her as well, and the “weakest” of them even got engaged to her so quickly. we can tell he decided to play cat and dog with her at first, he was enjoying teasing her, it was also his way to keep her attention on him (terrible strategy for such a smart man but WELL seducing women definitely isn’t among his strengths 😹) but then she got close to lou yao, and also to the legendary general ling buyi… and starting this moment, yuan shen world-renowned confidence collapsed, feeling threatened especially by our ml, his insecurities started showing more and more, the more jealous he got the more spiteful his words to shaoshang became, and isn’t it interesting to see such a clean-cut man gradually losing all his refinement because of her, even shaoshang told him that a man that presents himself as a perfect educated person shouldn’t have such a big mouth… so whenever i watch him on the screen i’m honestly laughing, he’s such a bitch, such an imbecile, he’s so jealous but didn’t even notice it… to me he’s nothing but the biggest loser 😹
this is a lot longer than i expected it… but i hope you’ll enjoy this study on yuan shen’s character so this handsome imbecile is no longer able to spoil the drama for you! 😎
yes it's his mum's brother and i'm guessing he was also the chef/eldest of the huo family (and perhaps a father figure to buyi), he was probably always closer to his mum's family than his dad one since father and son absolutely don't get along

watching them being petty and sardonic is so hilarious, yuan shen smile was litterally evil 😂 the way they ganged against yao in the previous episode as well, a wolf and a fox against a puppy and css being in the middle of this 😭
