i'm guessing, since yangyang is docile (submissive) and educated, even if she had to be in the middle of ling buyi chaotic family she wouldn't say anything and stay quiet, even if yangyang was attacked by other women she would get bullied and no harm could happen to the cheng family itself, like she would be wronged but she won't say shit since she's weak... shaoshang is the opposite, just her first reaction learning about his mum, she already took his side and found the situation unfair for his mum it means she'll definitely get personnally involved in the family matters (same way she did with the luo) and open her mouth except here she will face people from even higher ranks aka nobles and royals, being so bold with such people is dangerous for the cheng family... let's say the risk of getting in trouble and worst perhaps killed, is lower for yangyang than it is for shaoshang... but these are all assumptions tho

exactly, yes it's nice ling buyi happens to love her and is ready to protect her with his life but it doesn't change the fact that this era girls had no word in their marriage and could get married to horrible men 💔
her mum knowing ling buyi chaotic family situation, it's totally understandable she was against it, but there were definitely others ways to refuse it, they could have just say to the emperor they needed some time to think about it instead of refusing in front of everyone and embarassing shaoshang on top of going against the emperor, both her parents were in the wrong...
