I can hardly believe how much I already hate the Emperor, his mother and his secretary in just two episodes. Can I guess that the dead body they dug up in the first episode is Min Yu Ra and it's either or both the emperor and/or his mother who done it? Or is that just wishful thinking?
Funny how I just decided on the weekend to rewatch this drama but just with all the good parts AKA any part with Touba Yu in it. I was obsessed with his character back when this was airing. He's so obviously Slytherin that I was entranced by the character. Next to him, Touba Jun was a yawn for me. This article sums up my feelings really well about this drama. A very well written piece!
Listen, I love this drama. Sure it has its boring/draggy moments but overall, it has so much to love - the last 6 episodes had me RIVETED, I couldn't stop watching. And what's I really like it that I can revert between love and hate for our main trio as many times as I like but still come out feeling like I truly empathize with them. My heart ached so many times during this drama but it never failed to make me smile too. 10/10 if only for the fact that's this drama had me obsessed with a drama again after a long slum. I'll miss this so much but that's why the replay button is there ;)
I am shaken to my very core by the ending of episode 7. I suspected that the breakup had something to do with Ryo but I hadn’t expected him to have done this. Could he not have manned up sooner and admit that he had feelings for her? Or at least tell her when she lost her memories? He kissed her (maybe slept with her?) and she broke off her relationship with Machida because of him. But then she lost her memories and instead of telling her what had happened, he pretended he knew nothing and let her go on without a clue. Not that that isn’t bad enough but he even went back to his ex and restarted his relationship with her. And now that Sayaka has finally decided that she wants to be with Machida, Ryo can’t take it anymore and suddenly wants to come back to her??? I’m pissed at Machida too for being silent all this time about why they broke up. So much could have been resolved sooner if the man would SPEAK. Honestly at this rate, I’m hoping for all 3 ladies to be happy and single or find someone more worthy of their attention. Both male leads are idiots.
I love reading Chinese novel translations. They're so intriguing and so much hard work goes into translating them, I'm so grateful. These are the ones I've read before, the number of chapters completed are in brackets but may be slightly off because I haven't updated my list in a while:
1. Bu Bu Jing Xin (8 chapters) 2. Da Mo Yao/Sound of the Desert (completed) 3. Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Thousand Miles of Peach Blossoms (completed) 4. The Princess Weiyoung (29 chapters) 5. Mei Gongqing (142 chapters) 6. General and I/ A Lonesome Fragrance Waiting to Be Appreciated (completed) 7. Sansheng, Wangchuan Wu Shang - Sansheng, Death Exists Not At the River of Oblivion (completed) 8. Faithful to Buddha, Faithful to you (29 chapters)
Finished 10 episodes so far and the only reason I'm not pulling an all nighter to finish is because I have other…
I especially like how it's gone from Muen being all "I despise her to the core and will never ever in a million years get myself married to her" to "I really want to marry her but I don't want to force her". I'm really wondering how this is going to end.
Finished 10 episodes so far and the only reason I'm not pulling an all nighter to finish is because I have other obligations. Seriously loving it though; it's been giving me a Scarlet Heart vibe with the time travel where Muen is 4th Prince, Rueng is 13th Prince and Constantine is 9th Prince.
At least they didn't split up in the end like in the drama! If anything, this ending is much more satisfying because now I FINALLY get why Yoo Jung fell for her. I can't remember if it was mentioned in the drama but I remember that being one of my peeves. I'm in the minority here but I quite like this movie. Something just appealed more to me over the drama. However, if I hadn't watched the drama I'm not sure what I might have thought. 7.5/10 from me which is pretty average though I did like it.
Odd one out here but I actually preferred this actress. Don’t get me wrong, Kim Go Eun is super talented. To me though, her Seol just didn’t come across as naturally as this actress does. Something about her just suits the role much better.
I also like that Baek In Ha isn’t as over-the-top as the drama version. In Ha and In Ho look like siblings too.
I like the way the movie tells the story. It doesn’t feel as draggy as the drama did. It is probably because I watched the drama that I’m able to keep up with it but I like the way they’ve sectioned it. It’s succinct and to the point.
One con: that loud mouthed, annoying drama sunbae is still around. The fact that he irritates me this much shows that the actor is doing a great job. But boy, does he make my blood boil.
I’m very intrigued! I just want to know what happened in those 3 months that led to where she started. It’s one of those rare dramas where I like both main leads.
May I ask which part was RG weeping all over the place?
Several - when she couldn’t get Zhan Feng to love her again, whenever someone died or was hurt, whenever she felt hopeless - to name a few. Granted these are all moments where it is appropriate to cry but in the end, they seemed excessive and outweighed her brave/strong points. I might sound harsh but that’s just my impression.
This is probably a better summary which is also less spoiler-y:
Lie Ru Ge is the daughter of the master of Lie Huo Manor which is the most powerful jiang hu sect. She is a cheerful beauty who’s trying to regain her eldest senior’s heart after he suddenly goes back on his promise to marry her. In an effort to learn how to attract her beloved again, she goes to the most popular brothel house where she meets Yin Xue, the brothel owner and “Number One Beauty”. Little does she know, Yin Xue has a mysterious past that involves her and will go to the ends of the earth to protect her.
8.5/10 - best part of this drama for me is my cheeky Yin Xue. I wanted to like Ru Ge but her character isn’t very consistent - one minute, she’s a total badass and strong, next scene she’s weeping all over the place and can’t defend herself. Same goes for Yu Zi Han: complete snooze fest of a character. I do appreciate my finally regretful Zhang Feng and wickedly crazy An Ye Luo though. Also, shoutout to Huang Cong and Bi Er as the best female sidekicks ever. Everybody in this drama is so pretty, it hurts sometimes.

The link above has all the episodes for both seasons.
Season 2 is from episode 13-24.
If I'm wrong, I apologize for the interruption!

Side note: Pretty sure the company building they used is the one that Yang Mi actually owns?
