Title My Teacher Spoiler
It amazes me how understanding her parents were.

Also, poor Fujioka. Deserted right after his confession.

I don't know why I watch these movies when they make me cringe and yet I somehow like Close Range Love so much. I was hoping this would be similar to it but I found it too awkward. Ikuta Toma is an amazing actor though; he's the reason I wanted to watch in the first place. I thought he played the role of a sensei being loved by a student with perfect logic. Then it started to make less sense when he suddenly kissed her. I think it's just me that didn't get it. It's a good movie, don't get me wrong, just not my cup of tea. 7.5/10
On Murphy's Law of Love Mar 17, 2018
Lost interest after the first ten or so episodes! Interesting concept but the story didn't really have anything to do with Murphy's law apart from her mentioning it every once in a while.

He's a cutie. Hopefully, more of his movies will be on here soon!
On To Love or Not to Love Mar 16, 2018
I really liked it! I found the main girl to be someone who's strong and knows what she wants but is inherently flawed as we all are. I'm also partial to dimples. Sure, they made some idiotic mistakes but who doesn't? 8.5/10 for me!

Title The Journey 2 Spoiler
I’m at episode 22 (or episode 10 of 12 of S2 if you’re counting them as separate seasons) and I still don’t know about the first life! Ah, this is frustrating but I NEED TO KNOW. I’ve been marathoning this series as much as I can and I love it but I do have issues, mainly the relationship between Ye Yin and Master (apparently his name is Si Yin but I wouldn’t know that ‘cause 22 episodes in and I’m STILL not there). Does he not realize that by raising her as a child, she clearly only sees him as a father figure? There’s legitimately no romantic feelings on her side so I’m confused as hell as to how that’s going to work.
I do so love vampires and Ma Ke but lord knows Ya Long and Ye Yin probably wouldn’t work out long term. I just don’t know where this drama is going.
But that’s part of the fun isn’t it?
I WILL PERSEVERE.

Edit (3 hours after original post):
I’m now done! Turns out episode 22 was the start of the explanation of the downfall. To be honest, I think they just took too long to get to that point and pretty much everything that came after it felt very drawn out. LOL @ public menace to society Sha Ke and Ya Long in that rather spectacular battle.
That being said though, I do like the ending. I’ve seen some people reflecting that it’s open ended but to me it seems pretty final - she goes back to the point where the decision to create her was made, interrupts them and then Voldemort-flakes away since by interrupting them that one time apparently means they’ll never bother thinking or speaking about it again (deities, man, what goldfish memories they have!) and hence never create her and therefore never bother fighting for millennia for her attention.
I did really enjoy the drama but I think because I marathoned this season so hard (due to my indulging on the first) I got tired of their repetitive missions and extra-ness this time around.
Also, I still have issues with Master/Si Yin/Sha Ke/whatever the heck his name was. The actor is attractive, I’ll give him that, but boy, is the character himself actually kind of a creep. He kept saying not to hold his past life against him but then proceeded to do exactly the same thing as that past life and I’m like, “boyyy?? how did u change then??” Then there’s the fact that keeps shoving her through time portals and never giving her useful help or advice, that he makes all of the decisions for her “out of love” but never bothers to consider her feelings first, that he says he’d be willing to let her go on her date with Ya Long but then FOLLOWS them the entire time and oh goodness, he’s just a creep, man. He can play cold shifu any time but the minute he becomes this annoying obsessive creep, I’m like “boy, bye!”
I’m partial to both Ma Ke and vampires so I can’t be unbiased in my opinions towards Ya Long. I will however like to state that yes he did try to kidnap her and make her his vampire bride but did eventually change his mind and heart to allowing her to make her own decisions. To me, that does make him better than SHIFUUUU but once more, I am biased. (Also, his eyeliner and bottom lashes are on POINT.)

TL;DR: I think Ye Yin would be better off in the real world finding her own love away from these previously celestial but also very troubled beings. 8/10 from me :)

I love Cruel Intentions but I’m worried about watching this drama precisely because of the movie ending. Not sure how “loosely based” this drama is but I don’t want to be HEA-deprived.

If you get through the first episode and meet Ya Long, you'll get hooked like I did! I loved every minute. Such entertainment and guilty pleasure.

YouTube has subbed. 1-30 and 37-42 episodes
Thank you for telling me! I’ll check them out.
On The Flame's Daughter Mar 7, 2018
I know there’s a reason he’s being mean to her but I can’t help but dislike him and I just want Yin Xue to piss him off. On the other hand, loving Yix Xue! He’s such a different kind of male lead to the ones I’ve been seeing in c-dramas for so long. No stern and cold but handsome immortal in white/black/pale colours type here!
On The Flame's Daughter Mar 5, 2018
His sword is called Tian Ming! That was their son's name in The King's Woman. I screeched. There are also so many actors of Eternal Love in this. These things make me happy.
I'm only done with the first two episodes but I AM ALL IN!

So glad to see Filipino movies and their actors added to MDL!
I was obsessed with Liza for a time after seeing her in Just the Way You Are. She is stunning and so talented!

The trailer is messing with my brain because I keep thinking of the previous actors and then there's Park Hae Jin who's still there. I'm interested though!

Hoping someone will complete the subbing for this. It's one of those dramas you kinda have to turn your brain off to enjoy but I still miss it.
On Murphy's Law of Love Jan 24, 2018
It's probably the guyliner but I'm getting some serious Hwang Tae Kyung from You're Beautiful vibes from the male lead. Enjoying this so far though!
On The King in Love Jan 11, 2018
A promising start and some lovely moments in this drama. It lost its spark once the love triangle started (and this is coming from someone who ADORES that drama trope) and some characters just seemed dumb and irritating (the ridiculousness of that one minister though!) but I still have one favourite - Wang Won. Sure, he has his moments of stupidity himself but his unwavering love has my heart.

Also, had a sliiiiight crush on Song In and his devious mind for a bit. That faded really quick after one particular moment though.

TL;DR: it's a good drama if you like warm-hearted and blindly loyal but overall likeable characters.

I took the negative comments too seriously and let it stop me from giving it a fair chance. I started yesterday out of boredom and now I'm hooked! I think I got easily scandalized by the ending of the first episode, lol.
cityhunter Dec 5, 2017
Completely agreed on all of these. I tried getting into While You Were Sleeping and Ruler of the Mask among others but I just wasn't interested. This year wasn't the best in terms of kdrama for me.
