Even though it took me about a year to finish viewing this asadora I was really glad I persevered as it was worth it. This is the third asadora for me and as with the other two I enjoyed every minute.
What I really appreciated about this drama is how uplifting it was and how it realistically showed that it is possible to achieve one's dream with a lot of good will and resistance to life's difficulties. This asadora also dealt with a very important issue for women such as the difficulty of pursuing a career and taking care of the family at the same time.
I will miss the lovely town of Noto and all its cheerful group of friends... it was a pleasure to see the making of all the lovely cakes, I wish I could have also tasted them.
I highly recommend this heart warming story. :)
It took me a long time to finish this drama because I was waiting for the last 10 episodes to be completely subbed in English. This unfortunately didn't happen so I watched them with subs only at 70/80% which practically spoilt the most important part of the story as many important chunks of conversations were missing.
In any case I enjoyed the plot on the whole which was lively and interesting although not very realistic in many parts. What I appreciated most were the settings, the costumes and the good acting of the leads.
There was a lot of potential in this drama which unfortunately was wasted. The story was interesting and original for the first half of the episodes and it stopped being so in the second half. I also thought there was not much chemistry between the main leads and I couldn't understand the roles of the secondary characters too much. In any case the cast was good so I hope to see them all in better projects in the future. :)
Wow, all quite unexpected for me as I only saw Descendants of the Sun and The Flower in Prison out of all of these and certainly DOTS deserves all the awards it wins. :)
I was drawn to this drama because of the famous writer and also because of Saito Takumi. Overall I enjoyed as it was a sweet and poetic story as it often happens with J dramas. I also appreciated the fact that it dealt with Modern Design but unfortunately on the whole I wasn't blown away. I am still waiting for a great comeback of Japanese dramas.
I was expecting so much from this drama in particular because JCW was in it. But it was a great disappointment as the story had a disjointed and totally unrealistic plot. In any case the acting was good and I was struck in particular by Song Yoon Ah who played a fascinating and tormented Yoo Jin. I didn't find the romance part of this drama particularly involving but in any case a lot of effort was put in by JCW especially because of his continuous fighting scenes which is why I decided to rate it with a 7. After Yong Pal and this I have learnt my lesson and from now on I will keep well away from this writer's future projects.
I had fun whilst watching this drama which was simple yet enjoyable. The plot was nothing to write home about but it flowed nicely and and the episodes always had a light-hearted and easygoing feel to them. I personally prefer more sophisticated stories so for me it was more of a filler in between other dramas . In any case it made me feel good which is all that matters.
I am thankful to whom in the feeds had recently watched this drama and made me realize that I had missed it as it was truly wonderful for me. It was touching and very poetic even if sad at the same time.
Although it was released 9 years ago I realized that the topic could still be very realistic nowadays as the attitudes of the people would be exactly the same.
Even before starting to watch it I was sure it was going to be a great story mainly because of the amazing leads who were already great actors at the time and have maintained their high acting level up to now.
This is truly a masterpiece and I doubt I will ever forget the story and the little girl in particular.
This was sooo interesting...thanks for writing this summary as I always felt there were different trends every year in Kdramas. Another trend I noticed this year (2016) are illnesses like cancer and Alzheimer's disease. I really wonder what 2017 will have in store for us...
I thought this was a beautiful and poetic drama. What I appreciated most the way both the main leads never put themselves and their happiness before everyone else's and were very respectful of their original families. Every situation was decribed in a realistic way especially as far as feelings went and I was grateful that the writers approached the subject of broken marriages and new partners with such a warm and positive outlook. Indeed the cinematography here was amazing and the acting of all the cast was also absolutely perfect.
At the beginning I had mixed feelings about this drama as I didn't enjoy the first episodes because I found the leads a little too quirky and arrogant. However as the story progressed I started liking everything more and more and also appreciating the subtle and sophisticated comedy. By the end I grew fond of the leads and also the side characters (the doctor and her nurse will probably be amongst my favourite side characters) and really had fun watching the final episodes. Thumbs up to the writers and also to the cast for delivering such an original and amusing romcom.
I am relieved that this saeguk has ended even though I usually really enjoy this genre. The second half of the drama really dragged with events going around in circles and repeating themselves over and over. Sometimes there were really silly and obvious eye rolling situations which really lowered the quality of this drama. I wouldn't recommend it as it got quite boring although I hope to see some of the actors in the cast (the king in particular) again in better projects.
I can definitely say that I enjoyed this drama although I have mixed feelings about it.
I think this is mainly because I really liked the Chinese version so much that I was hoping to see the same depth of story in this Korean version. I had the feeling throughout all the 20 episodes that the writers here gave much more emphasis to the romantic aspect of the story rather than the political aspect. Also in the Chinese version the personalities of all the princes were given equal depth and attention whereas in the K version I would say that the first half of the story was more focused on the 4th and 8th prince.
Overall this was a good remake especially very beautiful to see mostly because of the very attractive cast, sceneries and costumes but the story itself was too jumpy probably because the writers had less episodes available in compaison to the Chinese version and many dinamics between the princes could not be properly explained.
My favourite version still remains the Chinese one, but everyone did a great job here in particular Lee Jun Ki whose acting was exceptionally good.
Thanks for writing this. I really like this actor and up to now my favourite drama of his is definitely East of Eden. I am looking forward to his coming saeguk. :)
This was a very particular drama as it had the romcom feel to it even though dealing with a very tough theme like cancer. In fact in the second half the lightheartedness of the beginning started to diminish although the writers managed to keep a warm positive feeling up until the end.
I have to say that I am always weary of dramas that deal with such important illnesses as I fear that they are never too realistic however luckily here they dealt with the subject in a proper way leaving the viewers with optimistic and hopeful vibes.
The side story was also interesting and it was obviously planned to help keeping the drama on a lighter tone. It was a pleasant experience although I don't think I would watch it again.
