I was really missing traditional Korean saeguks which is why I stuck with this one until the end. I found that the plot wasn't in any way original or different from many other similar dramas shown before, so I decided to focus only on the cast and the acting, which I found pretty good on the whole. My favourite character for once was not the ML but the SL Dae Yeop whose story arc was much more tormented and interesting than that of the OTP. The FL's character was also quite flat and not in any way endearing or captivating for me. So my rating is 7 only thanks to the effort of the cast and the whole filming crew, but the writers could have put much more effort in the script.
This was a C drama with an interesting and involving plot. I enjoyed all the mysteries and how well they were always solved and explained. My only problem here was that the main cast was far too young for the roles they were playing, I could tell that their ages in real life were only in their early 20ies (Chu Chu in particular) which made the whole story a little unrealistic for me. In any case a pleasant watch mostly because it was original and different from usual Chinese historicals.
It's been 11 years for me.. Am I the oldest here or what :)
I started watching dramas about 10 years ago (signed up on MDL a year later) and I am 57 years old...so I might really be one of the oldest here in both senses of the word. Great article by the way. ;)
What an inspiring and uplifting drama! It was really involving for us viewers to go through all the difficulties together with the team in this restaurant and to witness how they all persevered to obtain their goals. Takuya Kimura never disappoints and the remainder of the cast was just as great! All the dishes here looked awesome and it really made me want to taste them after all the hard work that went towards their making. This drama leaves me greatly satisfied so it highly deserves a 10 for me.
Having never seen the Taiwanese original and having dropped the 'boring' Korean version of this drama, for me this story was totally new. I enjoyed less the first half as I found it too full of typical Jdrama clichès with also a few sentences that were said to the FL that sounded quite offensive towards women (without any reaction on her part). However the last few episodes really drew me in as the quality of the writing improved considerably. My rating is therefore an 8 as it was pleasant overall.
This was a well acted drama and I enjoyed the students group relationship and struggles. However there was far too much law gibberish that litterally went over my head most of the time...I understand the whole setting was in a law school so it was to be expected, but it was still too heavy going for someone like myself with no law technicalities knowledge whatsoever. What kept me going was the mistery which, like many others here have written, was solved in a quite low key manner. I can't rate it with more than a 7.
Vincenzo was indeed a special drama for me, so I agree with this article. Why? I wouldn't be able to pinpoint the exact reasons as there were also aspects I didn't like. It was different in its mix of comedy/thriller and I was certainly fascinated all the way through which took me by surprise: it's definitely a drama that I won't easily forget. There are many Kdramas out there that have the 'love it or hate it' teams of viewers and still remain famous to both the Korean and the international public (Goblin, Crash Landing etc.) and I think it will be the same for this drama.
We are glad that you are so kind as to look beyond her lipstick and still gave this a 10 and would highly recommend…
I will do so when I rewatch it eventually. Indeed by trying not to focus on the lipstick I was able to enjoy the drama, however I thought this was something that I only noticed but by reading what you wrote it seems that many others noticed/were bothered by the lipstick. Glad to know I wasn't the only one!! Yes it's a great drama as stated in my first comment (I personally believe however that as DD is such a famous actress she would definitely have a choice on whether or not to wear it in non realistic settings, like when her character goes to sleep for example...).

Yes I noticed in another drama where she was in (Love Designer) in which she wore it even when she went to sleep!! I personally find it too bright and distracting but it certainly doesn't bother me to the point that I would bash the drama for this reason. Luckily I don't plan to watch that many dramas with DD as she stars mostly in fantasy dramas which I don't enjoy. ;)
This was another memorable historical C drama for me. I enjoyed the story, the acting, the settings and the OST. Also the mixture of drawn and live scenes was particularly original and very well made. It's a drama that I would want to rewatch as it has so many twists and turns that it never gets boring, although personally I enjoyed less the very last part regarding the female villain which in my opinion slowed down the story. This is the 3rd drama I watch with DD and she is overall a good actress although I really wish she would give up that bright red lipstick which she wears also in situations were realistically it would be impossible to have one handy and which is too distracting. In any case it's a full 10 for me and I highly recommend it.
I have mixed feelings about this drama. On the one hand I appreciated the story arc and the fact that vewers are urged to question themselves about whether or not it's right to pursue justice on ones own when the legal system fails to do so, on the other hand the excessive violence and the cruel cases depicted were sometimes too much for me to bear. It was definitely a well made, well acted and well written drama which is why I am rating it with an 8 but I would not recommend it to those like myself who prefer less dark and violent plots.
I enjoyed the first half of this drama much more than the second half which for me dragged on for too long. On the whole it was more like a slice of life type of drama with a few cliff hanger situations in the first half. Yes it was heart warming and the three main couples are pleasant to watch with fluffy settings (maybe a few too many) but I really felt there was no plot towards the end. I can't rate it with more than 7.5
I realize my opinion about this drama will be greatly biased for two reasons: I am a die hard fan of SJK and I am italian. I really appreciated the effort SJK made to speak our language which he did in an excellent way. Also his half-italian personality was spot on with his love for espressos and tailored suits. I was completely chuffed at how well everything italian was represented in this drama including Mafia (which in reality is nothing to be proud of), the hand gestures and the unforgettable pigeon Inzaghi. For what concerns the story itself, indeed all that happened was quite unrealistic and exaggerated (so I recommend having the brain mode off when watching it) however it was particularly well acted by the whole cast. The balance between comedy and action made this drama unique as I found myself laughing out loud one moment and feeling great sadness or worry the next. What can I say, I will certainly rewatch it as it will probably become another classic of K dramas. Grazie mille Vincenzo Cassano!!
This was for me an enjoyable spy-story. Indeed it was rather slow paced especially in the middle but I found it interesting anyhow, as the villains here were clever in hiding themselves very well and confusing their opponents. There was an issue towards the end that didn't make much sense seeing how well prepared the Government team was. I imagine the writers wanted to give the whole story a dramatic twist and also the last episode wasn't quite as satisfying as expected. On the whole I would recommend it if you enjoy this genre of drama.
This drama gave an interesting insight on Japanese politics, or mostly how they believe politics should be done. Of course corruption is always there like everywhere else in the world but I liked the end message of involving the people in all major decisions. I thought the way the family was portrayed in this drama was super cute and very much against the flow (male doing housework and looking after the children and female being the breadwinner).
Thanks for this article. I also just finished watching the whole drama and I really appreciated the settings, the filming and the acting. The plot was original and different although I found it rather confusing especially in the first half. Sometimes I felt lost as to what was going on and I found myself guessing...also the ending left me with a few question marks. However on the whole it was a good drama.
I haven't watched many sci-fi series so all I can say for this drama is that the plot was interesting and original although very confusing especially for the first half. Luckily during the second part of the drama we started getting some flashbacks and explanations of what was going on although the confusion was still there as many events took place really quickly and with time jumps. I would say that what I appreciated the most here was the acting, the filming and the settings (I know nothing of CGI however it all seemed quite realistic to me so unsettling for most part). If the writing had been less complicated and jumpy I would have given this drama a higher rating although 8.5 is still pretty good.
Out of all the harem dramas watched so far this was neither the best nor the worst. Most of the events that happened, especially those involving the concubines, were not as harsh as those in other similar dramas and the difference was that the FL always had the unlimited support of the ML in fighting her battles. I was surprised to see some feminist issues here and there which probably were non existent in that particular time period, but which I appreciated nevertheless especially as it also related to embroidery which was beautiful to see. On the contrary the ML (and most of the other male characters) were rather weak in this drama which was an interesting change. My overall rating for this drama is 7.5 as I was expecting something better.
My favourite character for once was not the ML but the SL Dae Yeop whose story arc was much more tormented and interesting than that of the OTP. The FL's character was also quite flat and not in any way endearing or captivating for me.
