In a way I am not happy about the delay, but on the other hand I am not ready to say goodbye to this drama so ending it a little later will not be so bad.
I only watched the first 9 episodes of the first series of Money Heist and then dropped it as it was too violent for my liking. I am wondering if the Korean version will go the same way.
Let me get this straight...OG emperor: Tried to kill Xiao Qi and Awu to preserve his throne and limit Wang's power,…
I totally agree about Awu being too forgiving with her father, brother, aunt, uncle and Zitan...I also asked myself exactly the same questions which is why my favourite character was Xiao Qi who was much more consistent with his morals.
I will definitely list this drama amongst my favourite Chinese historicals as overall I really enjoyed it. Besides the plot which was more or less similar to many others, I found the acting, the costumes and the settings absolutely breathtaking! I agree that the title doesn't represent the drama as I would have rather titled it 'The Rebel General' as Xiao Qi was the one who truly rebelled whereas the Princess most of the time went with the flow with a a few exceptions of very 'soft power'. In any case I want to advise future viewers that this is neither a purely political historical nor a romance one but it has a fair mixture of both, and I would also add friendship and loyalty in the description. It's a full 10 for me, even with a few flaws here and there.
Not a bad drama, very heart warming and uplifting for sure. However, as much as I love poetic Japanese dramas I definitely need more juice and substance in my plots. Great to be reminded that I love nature, animals, human kind, our planet and even space! (that ending...made me roll my eyes though!)
I am on Episode 59 of this drama and I am waiting for the last 9 episodes to be subbed. I do agree this is a great drama with stunning costumes, setting and cast. The plot is a fair mixture of romance and power struggles and I have to say that overall I am really enjoying it. Yes there are a few puzzling moments along the way in which writers fall on typical clichès of chinese historicals but on the whole it's very involving and episodes just fly by. My favourite character is definitely Xiao Qi whom I find totally fascinating, whereas I would have expected a stronger A'wu according to the title of this drama.
I enjoyed reading your review and I agree with most of it. I am on Episode 59 so there are a few more to go until the end and I agree that the plot is more focused on romance than politics, although I did see quite a lot of power struggles and schemes between the two families Wang and Xie therefore I wouldn't say it was only a romance based drama. As far as the FL lead goes yes she is doing a good job and I agree that the title of the drama The Rebel Princess wasn't particularly on focus as I never saw much of a rebellion in her at all. She was quite submissive to all that went on around her most of the time. My favourite character so far is definitely Xiao Qi who is the real hero of the drama IMO.
Yes, Kim So Hyun played both the Queen and the Princess’ older version. The Princess’ striking resemblance…
Wow it's a pity that Son Ye Jin declined! Indeed the age factor could be explained that way. However the fact that one seems the doppelganger of the other is not realistic IMO. In any case luckily this was only in the first episode and the story has moved on from there.

I see why they made that choice but I would still have chosen a different actress, she is too young to be portrayed as a 30/40 year old mother. I found the choice cringy and hardly believable.
This was a very refreshing and heartwarming drama about personal growth. I really liked the way the story was told and the ending was absolutely perfect. I also found the both the cast and the setting convincing. On the whole a truly inspiring drama which deserves my rating of 10.
The leads go through many hardships that separate them not because of misunderstandings between themselves but because of circumstances which are beyond their control (and which make the drama very intriguing and involving). Indeed it might seem that they won't end up together but there is a scene at the very, very end which points the viewer to a happy ending.
I really felt the need to watch a 'pure and simple' traditional type saeguk as the ones released recently are mostly mixed with either horror, comedy or fantasy which are definitely not my cup of tea. This one reminded me a little of the older ones which had long and entertwined plots that showed the lives of those (both rich and poor) who lived in the past eras of Korea. So in this sense I appreciated this drama and I hope there will be more to come. The plot was not particularly original but it was fun and entertaining which is what counts for me.
This was for me a very good drama. There was the right mixture of romance, crime investigation and friendship ties. I really enjoyed the way the writers kept us guessing all throughout the story until almost the very last minute and how everything made sense and was clearly explained in the end. Overall great story and great acting so I would highly recommend it. It's a 10 for me.
Excellent drama! For a few years I couldn't find a J drama that I was interested in and I am so glad I chose this one by chance because of Tamaki Hiroshi. Well written story and wonderful cast. It was the first time I saw Takahashi Issei and I was very impressed! I will probably catch up with a few of his past projects. As far as Tamaki Hiroshi goes, he never disappoints!! The ending made sense although I always hope for writers to choose a different path for a change. A well deserved 10 for me.
