Omg! Didn’t see that coming.

I should have stepped back then and put it on hold. I’m at episode 16. The lead couple has the least airtime and the FL is still stuck in the palace. The princesses have become cliches. The mother’s of the princes are making a mess of everything! Ugh
I’m still watching because I want to choke a royal and I want to see a happy ending. But, it’s hard.

Who did she marry?

He needs more dramas and movie roles. He was great in the fight and competition scenes in First Sword of Wudong

He is proven lead material. Need an astute casting director to put him in a lead role! I got happy when he came in like a super hero in the Long Ballad!

This is a satisfying drama where the couple is happily united from beginning to end with little interference from evil doers including the petty, jealous and opportunistic relatives. It’s more comedy than tragedy with a lot of romance, no evil mother-in-laws and several supportive side couples. They should make more like this. 8.5/10

The actors are the best parts of this drama that suffers from offensively poor editing and a docudrama style storyline from beginning to end. 7/10

I hope you get more entertainment out of it than I did. I didn’t make it past two episodes in Serenade of Peaceful Joy. I love Wang Kai’s acting and had high hopes. But, could not get pass the storyline.

So true. The personality of the prince is too degraded compared to his younger days. I hoping they quickly tell him he’s the son of the maid concubine and he would have been made into a puppet king by his enemies with his sickly mother dying mysteriously. There is no way they would let the former maid be Empress Dowager. The adult version of the prince is too dumb.

I’m not sure. I avoid tracking that closely because I have too much experience waiting years for a drama to release after filming was completed. I’m just hoping the release is this year.

The drama spreads over three generations. It’s hard to keep up. The documentaries about her life is so much better. She accomplished a lot even though she could be ruthless when making decisions. Some of the infrastructure she set up, such as massive grain storage to protect against drought still exists today.

Have you tested it? Does it work? Lol! I’m kidding.

I’m watching it the Long Ballad. But, it’s mostly men, women dressed like men or poor women in the countryside like The Wolf abd House of Flying Daggers. They don’t get the big budget wardrobes like Fan Bing Bing in Empress of China. Her 200+ wardrobe was stunning!

*Sigh*

She’s technically married to a loser she scammed out of the marriage money that she needed to save her brother’s life. She set the guy up after he tried to sexually assault her in a temple so she stated. They never showed that scene. Then, she started the rumor she wasn’t a virgin so she could go home a keep the money. Unfortunately, her marriage certificate was sold to the Lu family’s sleazy son.
I think her relationship issues got too convoluted too quickly. She has a husband, a new owner of the certificate, the ML and the prince all in a mix. Plus, the potential to be the king’s court lady for life. It’s a mess. I’m hoping it’s not one of those dramas with happy couple posters and the couple barely get romantic scenes together.

I totally agree! This one of the best Asian dramas I have seen and I have seen hundreds! It’s well acted, well scripted and beautifully produced. I’m watching it again!

I have to say it is refreshing to see a drama set in the Tang dynasty. I have watched too many dramas set in the Song and Qing dynasties last year. The Tang female hairstyles are great. I look forward to seeing the clothing and different hair designs with each episode. I don’t know how they carried that weight of hair and decorations all day.

The younger brothers of Chumo are spoiled children in front of their parents and become smooth like silk when they find a woman they like. They learned well from elder brother! Lol

Oh, that explains it. I’m watching in the USA.

I assume they are slow translating this. It’s a pity because I don’t have the desire to rewatch when it is correctly subbed.
