There is nothing generic about this except the standard sword fighting found in wuxia dramas. The budget is not big. So, scenes and sets are not as good as the palace dramas. Best part of is the chemistry between relatively unknown young actors and the script that is true to the intent and heart of the novel without following it verbatim. I was addicted after episode 12/13 and viewing the manga. I’m about halfway through novel.

Yoochun’s life has been on a downward spiral for the last three years losing lawsuits and failing drug tests. He has left the entertainment business. It’s a shame because he is a proven talent. A lot of entertainers get eaten up by the business and lifestyle that comes with it.

I just realized I have watched almost all of his dramas without knowing it. We must be fated in dramaland or he just keeps getting casted for the better dramas.

Both cheated. Wei Wei was in the skinship level with the hand holding and kissing in bed, so, she was definitely an emotional cheater and a bit physical even though she didn’t consummate anything. The ex fiancé was definitely an emotional cheater and probably went all the way with his supervisor. He was clearly the designated boy toy who jumped when she called. He put that woman over Wei Wei. It was obvious if you haven’t seen your partner in weeks and you don’t get the urge to hug or kiss her. I would hug my dogs when I come back from vacation! Hell, my dogs would treat me better than the way 321 treated Wei Wei. I’m sure he forged her signature on the second mortgage he took out behind her back. What a mess.

She is mental, a stage 4 clinger. She looks like the type who says “If I can’t have him nobody can!” Then, takes a life. They all need to sleep with one eye open! Lol

You raised some good points. I don’t know about the culture in the countryside of Japan. So, I can’t comment. But, it seems plausible she is sheltered and dysfunctional.

Funny dialogue through it, but, the bland script is just average. 7.5/10

Oh My General has similar humor. The general is the strong rough female with the emperor a weaker, but flamboyant, male in touch with his feminine side. He’s not gay, just pampered and popular. It’s a lot funnier than this with good chemistry between the leads and concubines that get along. So, very little of the typical palace haters.

I have heard good things about this drama. Waiting patiently for the subs.

It’s a short 5 episodes of silliness. I could have watched more. No heavy thinking required. It’s built mostly for laughs. No romance needed. 8/10

Short, funny and cute. Feels more like a Japanese romantic comedy based on the quirky plots and 7 episodes length. Worth watching once. 8.5/10

This drama is worth watching...if you like over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek, i. e. makjang dramas! And Eun Woo’s acting style fits right in with this genre! Refer to the acting style of the book store owner or the head historian (and his entourage). Everything is amplified from their facial expressions to the comedic voice of the head historian! So, blame the director for his vision and implementation. It’s better to watch something you love than hate what you are watching. YOLO

It’s average. Feels like a set of disconnected high school scenes that’s not worth watching. The Taiwanese version of “You Are the Apple of My Eye” (2011) is a much better rendition of a coming of age film. 7/10
