It’s not really weird to see books, even banned books, as a theme. Nobles were expected to be educated. Public libraries did not exist. A family’s wealth was reflected in the amount of property, art collection and number of books/scrolls they owned plus their connections to influential people. Being knowledgeable was a plus and books were the social media as well as an educational tool to gain wealth and power as it is today. Paper was a luxury. Eduction was expensive. Educating women was a waste since they would marry to another family and benefit the in-laws. So, it’s rare and refreshing to see a theme where a woman is a historian following a ‘career,’

Tammy Park Morgan are like robots dating. Their speech patterns, dialogue, facial expressions feel and look mechanical compared to the scenes between Scarlett and the actor.

Tribes and Empires spent 53 mill won and produced 75 episodes. The production was in a palace and in the countryside with epic landscapes. You can see where the money went in the elaborate costumes and settings. You can’t see it in the first 2 seasons of this drama which repetitively uses the same primitive villages, huts and settings. The costumes are basic. Maybe the money went to salaries for the major stars and staffing.

I’ve seen Kang Joon in 11 dramas, 1 movie and 3 variety shows per my lists. I am not surprised even though I was not actively tracking his projects. He can act, in my humble opinion. His style may not be to everyone’s taste. But, he is bankable, talented and makes money for the project owners. Obviously, he’s not just a pretty face.

Thank you. That’s why she kept referring to herself as Chu Tai Tai. She made herself a permanent wife role with all the privileges and refuses to let go even after the breakup.

This quickly got boring and repetitive after starting so intensely. The season split is ridiculous with Netflix forcing a 20 episode kdrama into 2 seasons. This season is disappointing especially the ending. It would not be so bad if the follow on second half started in a week. It starts in November, 4 months after this season ends, just in time to forget this or not even care anymore. 7.5/10 for the first 10 episodes.

He is too generous. The ex-girlfriend is too ungrateful even though he shares the blame for allowing that behavior so many years.

Does the girlfriend work? Is she living off her dead parents’ trust fund? Why is she charging things to his card everyday? How did she make the connections to the rich people she is trying to fix him up with for work? Who paid for her sister’s schooling? I’m confused about how she makes a living.

Jasper and Puff are in sync as expected. I came here for them. The big surprises that raise this romance up several levels are the dialogue, topics covered and the acting skills especially that of the actress playing Puff’s best friend, Phoebe Yuan! She is a standout. Her character should be the mold for how to be a BFF in all instances. She’s entertaining!

It’s a beautiful romance realistically paced. It could feel a bit lacking if compared to the peaks and valleys of the standard romance drama. There is nothing extraneous or over the top in this. It’s worth watching a few times. 8.5/10

I understand why Song Ga Kyung is angry with Bae Ta Mi in ep 11. She’s acting out on her envy. TaMi is living Ga Kyung’s dream life... she cut all strings with the control freaks at Unicorn and got more successful. Plus, she now has the protection of Ga Kyung’s BFF. That stings.

The body swapping theme is overused in dramas. Not sure why they would use it in a movie.
