exactly too many cnovels are like that. They made it as if it’s women centric but in the end the FLs are just women who live in fantasy where there will always be MLs being their knight in shining armour. From a lot of adaptation of novels, mostly women are potrayed. Apparently some cviewers love plot like this, where weak women being saved by cool handome men. They also paid more attention to visuals than acting. For them it’s better to take good looking people than people who can act.
I read Zhu Yan novel because of TLP and not surprised they wrote FL like that because I have expected it, very typical FL.

Zhu Yan in this drama wasn’t as annoying as FL characters I had watced in cdramas but still, poorly written. They can’t do much to save a poorly written character in the novel at the first place. The writer really needs some reflection lol

I agree, FL is poorly written imo with no depth. She’s even worse in the novel, I can’t even tolerate her in the novel. They gave the novel title name ‘Zhu Yan’ while writing her so miserable, and writing ML better than her. She’s like just accessory to ML suaveness and coolness because he will always come to help her.
RM did a good job potraying ZY especially in last 10episodes where angst kicked in but still, her character was poorly written even when they had toned down a lot from the novel. It’s poorly written from the start, ever since the original novel. Idk what the writers are thinking when they wrote it. Let alone making her world revolved around ML only, like her wish in life were just to resurrect crown prince and later to accompany her shifu for the rest of their life.
She battled for Kongsang in the end but it’s just in the last episode. They made it seems like she’s so improved so much and powerful but they didn’t even utilize it well. I hope RM won’t take this kind of weak character again with her skill.

Xiao Zhan truly shines in this drama. Shi Ying suited him well, all cool powerful and suave.

I finished it all on the day they released express episodes. I must say the last 8eps felt rushed and I’m quite disappointed with the ending😅 but at least he appeared in front of her again and I would like to think he comeas back for good.

yes I know about all the trolls, even coming from her ML BL stans who tried to sabotage the drama through her.
I know they attacked her for Rise of Ning but idk they attacked the ML too whoa too cruel.
Serious roles I mean like Ren Zhen on Ray of Light or Huirou in Serenade of Peaceful Joy (this drama she acted with veteran actors so less trouble except her dumb young male partner causing issue🙄).
At this rate, she can just ignore them and focus on her strength and skill. They will never stop trolling anyway because like you said, it’s their ill mentality.

the hint was subtle but we know they did it. I think they cut something else from the bed scene since RM did mention about something we can look forward to but it didn’t happen. But I think their hottest scene was the one when he’s taking bath and he cornered her. Damn that’s good😆

ah yes that drama. I saw some poster of it and she’s like female official or something there. I don’t think it’s love interest tho, she’s the only female in the cast as well, as a support role

I like her acting since the first time I watched Cry Me A Sad River.
She’s naturally beautiful imo, looks prettier with less make up.
In the future, I hope she can choose written well characters like she received for CMASR & Ray Of Light. Picking deep, meaningful drama with very well written characters. I feel so bad for the amount of cyberbully she’s getting from all sides now.

I agree with you. Like it’s so hilalrious to witness her getting praises for one deep youth drama with serious issues, at the same time getting criticized her for looks in another idol traffic drama.
I really like her acting since I watched her movie and have high hope on her. I hope after this her and her team know what’s best and suits her the most. Getting into serious character roles will get her more recognition anyway compared to mediocre character who’s not written well.
With her skill, she can choose better serious roles with female centric dramas or something. Being in traffic limelight is not always a good thing anyway.
