Started off as a thriller then continued as mystery n subtle social commentary,this movie is about two hard working n likeable characters who are suffering from their past demons, racism n exclusion by society but they try hard to be accepted. It was bit emotional n heartwarming at times.
The plot is ok but execution n acting are really good. i love Satoshi kun's acting but Kubota shined in this, i was fascinated by his acting n his suspicious n pitiful character,i can't imagine this role being played by anyone else. Still don't get why people say Japanese actors are bad at acting, no idea what they watching.
I highly recommend this for acting n direction. Mukai Kosuke did amazing n smoothly as always bcz it's not easy to cover so many themes without turning it into a huge mess.
If i have to put this movie into a category I'd say it's a slice of life with some psychological aspect which wasn't insightful n deep enough. It had yurigokoro vibe at first, i loved the first half so much but second half went downhill bcz of draggy n irrelevant contents which added nothing to the main plot. Still enjoyed it bcz of good acting n dialogues. Overall good movie.
Erika Toda is an amazing actress no matter what role she plays whether it's comedy n dark roles, she may not look very pretty as other jap actresses but her acting is her strong point , it's not easy to maintain the balance n be versatile. In this movie itself, her character was really flexible.

This movie is scary, dark,insightful n thought provoking social satire on our society which neglects elderly n commit crimes against them but the execution is less impactful . Although the slow pace fits the gloomy ambience n plot it fails to grab the attention of young n immature audience which is also necessary for important movies like this. Highly recommended, strong themed movies like these should not be missed even if it's slow.
I watched the movie for Jo In Sung ,though he dint shine in this movie much as it's an old of his movie i cud clearly see how amazing he has become now compared to his early days , i liked all the actors.I found chun ho jin's character pretty interesting.He was fine either way.

Another brilliant movie by Masaki Kobayashi based on humanity n corruption where the people in top rung n superiors always enjoy the privileges by sacrificing the poor people n subordinates in bottom rung who are war prisoners. Writer doesn't excuse the crimes committed by the POW but u will still feel sympathy for these poor prisoners who are hoping to get released someday when the treaty between Japanese n US government will be signed. The movie is divided into two parts. One is about politics, corruption n mass killing n the other is the personal stories about the war prisoners where Yamashita is MC, the other half focuses on Yamashita . The most interesting thing about the movie are narration n the conversation between the prisoners.
There should be supernatural tag as well. There's no comedy n it's a bit psychological. Story about a lucky troubleman with yakuza as sub plot. Not as fun n creative as dangan runner ,this could have been much better with good writing bcz the opening scene was really interesting. Still watchable if anyone is Sabu's fan. This was like a messy, non comedic version of Sabu's drama Troubleman.
Story about three losers , similar to other of Sabu movies this one also has a little creativity n fun. Not bad ,i enjoyed this. If u watch hollywood or korean movies they always chase by cars but i love how japan promotes health . No matter how far n how long, they are always running ?

If he were to write this movie correcting all the coincidences n plotholes i dnt think they will be able to maintain the time length .They do this to a lot of movies thinking that audience is dumb .I know sometimes people watch movies to get rid of boredom but at times they really want to watch a good movie so they deserve the best .I get ur point n it was nice talking to u .The way u said his shit doesn't stink was funny .Have a nice day 🙂

Oh i didn't know he passed away n here i am talking ill about him,i actually enjoy watching his movies i disliked few but overall i like them.
I like this movie but yes it's not award worthy. I never cared about awards n reviews they are unreliable,nor anyone else should trust others opinion u know .We all have our own brain n think differently,i even like the movies rated 1 😋. As long as i can connect with characters n find even one thing interesting i can watch just anything.
Movie is a about planning a double suicide so don't expect romance nor it's not about healing .Although the slow paced direction n how the main characters met in similar situation reminded me of April Snow ,this movie was simply depressing.

Very slow movements n slow dialogues added more gloom to its already depressing tone ,it was almost funny how in the end even if the ML was weak he approached the red car very slowly n wasn't in hurry or panicking at all ,they maintained the pace throughout this movie no matter what.
