This was more of a mystery than thriller, being black n white gave it more mysterious look. Decent one time watch , i liked the bus setting n young tadanobu .Could have been better with more time length, better acting , better writing n chemistry between leads which was none. The plot reminds me of kdrama flower of evil.
Everyone is calling this a masterpiece whn m sure many of them dnt even understand it bcz it's a hard movie to grasp . So many symbolism n way too much is left for viewers to interpret.I get that it was director's past n many of them was his distorted memory n imagination but everything must have had a meaning.For example what 's with those eye patch ladies,r they from some cult sacrificing their eyes?n what abt that crazy dancing woman ?n that portrait with something written on it?
Although story overall is simple that viewers aren't lost there's way too many symbolism which i cudnt ignore. I suggest to watch it multiple time or with an empty mind n no this isn't a masterpiece just bcz of creative direction n cinematography ,i cnt deny it was pretty n unique.Must watch for movie lovers.
MC killed the sister bcz she always insulted her but she dint hate her rapists.I hate the rape alot, worst of all crimes but i guess everyone has different opinion.On top of that she was actually turned on in all those scenes maybe she had never had sex n wanted the experience which was also one of the reasons of her low self esteem.In the end,rape is rape.
Movie wasn't gripping at all but i liked the theme , it's simply a story about pitiful woman who is impulsive n childish in nature who always wants to learn something new n is helpful to others,not defending her for what she did but sometimes u bottle up a lot of humiliation n have an outburst,she did wrong n tolerated alot bcz she is dumb so i cn only empathize with her. Good acting by MC. I liked the movie.

Reminds me of Tetsuo the iron man bt this movie was way too extreme , brutal,dark,dystopian with heavy social commentary(which was also indirect n subtle that it wud hide behind all the weird things going on) n all perverted, psychopath n retard characters.Enjoyed it nonetheless .
I recommend this movie to open minded person who is into weird movies but dnt let this b ur first,can be scary n u won't understand anything.

It was realistic with dystopian setting about social evils revolves around postwar Japan , the theme was serious but i felt the direction was rushed, comical,messy n length was short that i cudnt connect with characters. It was unlike other movies of his which i like.
I like imamura's portrayal of strong woman no matter how flawed her character is, i have observed this in his several movies that the women don't cry easily n give up even after so much suffering, i mean they are not so melodramatic but mature n open minded.

This slow paced movie is about three flawed characters that's a prostitute who can't bring herself to break up with her controlling bf,her abusive bf n a lonesome intelligent oldman who is lonely n pure enough to get himself into troubles but i liked his character the most. There's also an interesting side character,the woman in the window,who is also not perfect, crying about not being able to get married like marriage is some huge achievement. The plot is simple,focused more on story, characters n how they all are intertwined rather than conclusion.Overall a decent movie .

M ashamed to say that same problem is with India.Today i saw the news that Italy is banning English language,bcz their population is decreasing they dnt want to accept LGBTQ,last week it was Uganda criminalizing it.They blame America for LGBT but How is freedom a western idea? Once u make the law, people will have to accept it , they all follow conservative policies for vote bank.Similary, countries like USA where it's legalized few people still face bully.Why is that?Where is humanity? M even more disappointed when girls do bullying n stuff ,aren't we supposed to be compassionate,open minded n sensitive?
I support the theme so my rating will be high for the theme.Aprt from that i liked the actors,dint get me emotional bcz short films are nt really my things but i liked it,much better than fluffy BLs .
After watching so many movies based on serial killings n much better movies from imamura sensei this felt pale in comparison.At times i got bored , would have liked it more if i watched it earlier.Only thing i liked was Ken Ogata n Rentaro's acting.
Women have been fighting for centuries for their rights n the fight is still going on, now LGBTQ community is fighting no idea for many years they will continue.It's just sad n unfair.
