i have to rewatch later today because I feel like I missed a lot of small details. But I felt like I missed something…
It's not about his dark side. There was no dark side here. These are decisions of swift punishment. He didn't want her to see because he was trying to protect her from seeing violence. Prior to ep 11-12, she's never experienced any of this. For her saying she wanted to see their execution, he wanted to protect her from even more violence than she needed to. Notice that when they were executed, she looks away because it's not someone who's never witnessed the brutality.

Episode 12- honestly, war/battle/tragic scenes need proper time to make us feel the sadness. I compare this to WRTW. I know towards the end, it was rushed. Battle scenes with ZLS were so short that before I can begin to feel the angst, it's over very quickly. Here, in episode 12- the scene does not have many actors but it was able to covey a sense of loss without being overly draggy.

Apperently Avenux the youtuber of chinese dramas doesn't like this drama I asked her for review because I respected…
I don't watch Avenux. I sometimes come across her videos but I watch enough to know that her reviews are extremely critical. Overly critical to the point that an average viewer wouldn't really notice or care. She praises dramas that I find utterly boring and she dismisses those that are out of this world. In fact, I don't watch other people's reviews of a show because what they like about it may not translate to others liking it.

I hope for those that complain about Leo Wu's expressions as 'wooden' can shut up after watching episode 9. I savored every glance, stare and changes in his micro expressions when interacting with ZLS. More to come of course but my goodness.

Wu Lei has had a kissing scene before. "Upcoming Summer" from 2021. I think, there might be a kissing scene in…
You just reminded me. That BTS in LLTG is meant to be a full on the lips. The director came over and said "no, not the cheek", lol. When they rehearsed it, they didn't do the full kiss but it would be in the final cut.

I'm not certain about whether he had any in Our Times. But Upcoming Summer! Absolutely memorable. It was technically his 2nd kissing scene on screen. He said in an interview that his first was when he was still a very young child actor, haha.

Can someone please tell me whether they gonna have kissing scenes? I've never seen Wulei having kissing scenes…
Wu Lei has had a kissing scene before. "Upcoming Summer" from 2021. I think, there might be a kissing scene in Our Times (last most recent tv drama aired to date). My guess is there is at least a kissing scene in this drama- some trailers showed a hint of it to come. Interestingly enough, I've not see any Lusi's dramas where she hasn't kissed the ML.

It's not that CSS had a comfortable life before that mom is treating her that way. Mom knows exactly as to how…
Her mother has a bit of conflicting attitude towards CSS. Her harshness and insistence on 'correcting' CSS' bad behaviour stems from her guilt of not being there for her as a child. So she wants to fast-track her into literacy and everything else she expects a dutiful daughter would be. On the other hand, there are times, very fleeting where she admires CSS but she wouldn't allow CSS to know about it. Almost feeling like if CSS knew her mother actually agrees with her, it would be a sign of condoning her behaviour and she doesn't actually want that. So even when she knew CSS was right, she argues against her and thus increases the friction between a mother and her daughter.

I don't condone her method of treating CSS. I rather see her actually use the time to get to know CSS on an individual level than to be overly criticizing of her every move. It's a very dated way of treating one's own child - is to be harsh but then lenient to others. The child feels strongly mistreated as a result and often feels that they can never do anything right to please their own parent. From the parent's perspective, the harshness is a means to encourage their child to be better and do better. It's very Chinese and very dated.

and over protecting loving mother)))
And a bio brother who isn't scheming against him. I say reincarnation for Elder Brother hit the jackpot in this one.

I have noticed the drama cut some unimportant plots of the novel but keeps the excellent scenes. It's very good!…
Omg, didn't recognize her as the leader of the flowers world but yes! omg yes! More of elder brother.

People need to realize that just because the first few episodes aren't mindblowing or is a slow burner doesn't set the mood for the rest of the series. Take a few notables that after the initial "setting the scene" episodes as foundation, you get into the real good stuff (The Untamed, Ancient Love Poetry). As for the lack of scenes between the leads thus far, again, this is foundational to the rest of the 50+ episodes. Just think about Leo Wu's last period drama "The Long Ballad". It wasn't until 14 episodes later did we see more than the fleeting 2 minutes of interaction between the main leads. There is nothing wrong with slow burning.

As for comparing to Ming Lan- it's from the same author, maybe on the face of the character profiles it resembles a bit of Ming Lan but clearly CSS is different from Ming Lan and her difficult childhood is very different. Ming Lan had her grandmother to protect her but CSS has no one - at least no one willing to stick up for her. CSS's father is a 180 compared to the terrible father of Ming Lan. I don't mind CSS's character. Some call her manipulative and scheming. I think it's more because she isn't willing to sit in idle and let someone else save her or change her circumstances. I admire her for it. It's misunderstood as being a brat and childish. She is simply trying to undersell herself to avoid unwanted attention or jealously.

Leo Wu- he's never disappointed me and we've yet to see where he really shines. Just wait for it. That is all.

I avoided posting this earlier on because it was too big of an ending spoiler but at this point I guess it is…
Now that we finally saw the ending, I can't figure out how the opening scenes in episode 1 fits in. WXS alone in the night with his horse carrying a box (assuming the ashes of someone dear to him). To the very end, I don't know who that is or who it's meant to symbolize. I kept on thinking it was WR but alas, she was alive to the very end and WXS was not alone. Was the opening scene meant to be metaphoric as opposed to an actual event?

I finally rated and reviewed this drama. Usually this is the time I exit out of the comments and move on but I…
Will you be watching Love Like the Galaxy? Prayers it will come out very soon. All those bts they've been dropping is like WRTW all over again (when they dropped a bunch in the days leading up to the release)

Thankfully there he's dead lol. Here he got decked with a ceramic pillow; he should be glad he still has a head…
Omg! At first I thought we were getting whiplash of him being FYK and then the 'good' guy here. Then of course full circle comes around, oh he's still a jerk but different level. We are all good now.

DFJ’s actor says goodbye to his character: https://share.api.weibo.cn/share/315568771,4783603077087981.html?weibo_id=4783603077087981
I liked DFJ's character as well and like others, I was skeptical about whether he was a threat, ally or neither when it came to the MLs. Seeing his character arc, I liked it because his purpose and mission has been very clear and simple. Protect the people that mattered to him and repay their kindness. He was protecting LC and her father for saving him when he was a young boy. His loyalty to them was never questionable or unwavering. He knows what must be done and does it. No hesitation. Even his 'exit' was just beautiful.

So BCF became insanely evil because he lost his friend or because of the drugs and torture ??
both. WXS was his only anchor in the madness he was experiencing.

This drama is getting more frustrating as it airs. Their character arks are getting sloppy. I found Zhu Xiao Yao as the most interesting female character. She's 10x more interesting than WR who we know zero about her beyond the fact of her powerful family name. What started out as a strong and interesting story has quickly fallen into a lack of direction.

omg, I'm glad I'm not the first to recognize FYK is also in A Dream of Splendor and seeing his two characters as night and day is a whiplash each week given the airing schedule of these two series.
