To survive such a family, you need a really supportive husband who actually has standing. Take Ming Lan... GTY did his own thing even though his stepmother was scheming every second of her waking moment and driving the married couple crazy with her schemes.

LBY is a kick ass general. WL is playing him superbly! Each moment on screen, hard or soft is wonderful. While…
tbh, even LY's older brother is passive. He had an opportunity to be recognized by helping LBY but instead, for fear or whatever, he decided to just continue to be humble...so humble..

It was so beautiful when they were united as a front and those slaps were spot on.

I personally like Zhao Jun..as of right now.I think she did care for Lou Yao (how could she not when they were…
It's survival. The earlier episode where she witnessed her mother?!'s death was brutal. Not a squeak from her when you can see if not for trying to protect herself and her brother, she would of lunged out. Lou Yao is not a suitable suitor for any available bride to be. He has no standing in his own family. You cannot count on him to protect you. Sure he may be devoted and kind but that can't carry you through the hardships that is to come. Someone like Zhan Jun is not going to put up with BS from those elders in Lou Yan's family.

The biggest joke of the year.. she is a joker.. I stopped taking her seriously when she points outs all silly…
See now it validates me and for others that her drama opinions are so garbage. A beautifully scripted drama like Ming Lan with some of the best verbal arguments ever on tv is hated.

Can't agree with you more. He's such a handsome hunk as Ashile Sun. I personally love the half braids and long wavy hair. I don't like his hair up like that in LLTG but I generally don't like that hair style for any of my fave male actors. There are short scenes where WL's hair is down here in LLTG and I can't wait for those moments.

She criticizes things that an average viewer wouldn't either care/notice but because she elaborates on it, it makes it sound like it does matter. I definitely don't go by her viewers. I wonder what she thought of Ming Lan. Feng Shao Feng was absent in many full episodes yet so far, WL is here and there and we can see as the story progresses, it's gonna be heaven for our eyes.

Yes, Leo is a little bit stiff but I think for this role (again she doesn't read the book), he's good with ZLS…
The last scene in ep 20...doesn't look right. It looks like it was shown as part of the trailers but when ZLS suddenly turns and is into WL's chest, WL is shown to be completely startled by this. It looks like the same scene but it's not shown in ep 20. Same outfits for both. I stand to be corrected later on if there is a similar scene down the road but I am very doubtful. I don't know why they cut that scene out.

How are we supposed to survive the wait after watching jaw dropping.. bed rolling previews πŸ˜ΆπŸ˜βŒ›βŒ›
Going to be a loong 4 days. Hate these 3 days a week airing schedule. Nearly died when it was WRTW until they added an extra day in the last couple weeks of the schedule. Painful.

We have to admit that despite all the hate we have for CSS's mother (many of us don't approve of her methods of teaching CSS), she isn't wrong about LY's family. 5 mins in during the first meeting of LY's family and you know, CSS is just going to suffer. What troubles me is why LY's family seem to accept CSS for marriage but is obvious they don't like her spitfire personality. What do they get out of it?

In these historical periods, when a female is marrying a husband, she's marrying the whole family. So it's not…
CSS's reply to her mother on this was that LY plans to leave the family to go afar and she would go with him - thus, she doesn't have to deal with his family. That is how naΓ―ve her character is at this point.

I like Luo Yao, he is honest and kind. EP 16 lol with everyone from the King to the family talking about her Ling…
From just EP 16. Her parents never really saw LBY interact with CSS until now. LY and CSS wouldn't be able to overcome obstacles and seeing the upcoming trailers, they couldn't even overcome their first one. Life may be more difficult with LBY but at the very least, they are stronger together.

I can see out of all 3 suitors, CSS's mother would like LBY the most (I haven't read the novel). LY's family is too complicated for CSS where she would just endure same suffering if not worst as her own family. YS- too much of a flirt. Even seeing the trailer for ep 22 shows too many female admirers chasing after him. LBY- not a flirt and sadly, he has little to no family. Marrying him would mean CSS doesn't have to deal with family drama but she trades that for his military life. I suspect, once he gets his revenge and that he has someone he cherishes, he wouldn't be so reckless in making choices going on military campaigns.

Prince Xiao is right about one thing -- Lou Yao is a dull boy. Sweet and cute but... dull. Total devotion can…
I honestly see Lou Yao as a good best friend as opposed to a romantic partner. I can see why SS wouldn't mind being betrothed to him. She wanted a simple life. Lou Yao is as simple as it gets from all three suitors. But the upcoming episode trailers show that his family dynamic is complicated and worst than her own family. You would need a strong and supportive husband to deal with those annoying family members. Just think Ming Lan.

i have to rewatch later today because I feel like I missed a lot of small details. But I felt like I missed something…
It's not about his dark side. There was no dark side here. These are decisions of swift punishment. He didn't want her to see because he was trying to protect her from seeing violence. Prior to ep 11-12, she's never experienced any of this. For her saying she wanted to see their execution, he wanted to protect her from even more violence than she needed to. Notice that when they were executed, she looks away because it's not someone who's never witnessed the brutality.

Episode 12- honestly, war/battle/tragic scenes need proper time to make us feel the sadness. I compare this to WRTW. I know towards the end, it was rushed. Battle scenes with ZLS were so short that before I can begin to feel the angst, it's over very quickly. Here, in episode 12- the scene does not have many actors but it was able to covey a sense of loss without being overly draggy.

Apperently Avenux the youtuber of chinese dramas doesn't like this drama I asked her for review because I respected…
I don't watch Avenux. I sometimes come across her videos but I watch enough to know that her reviews are extremely critical. Overly critical to the point that an average viewer wouldn't really notice or care. She praises dramas that I find utterly boring and she dismisses those that are out of this world. In fact, I don't watch other people's reviews of a show because what they like about it may not translate to others liking it.

I hope for those that complain about Leo Wu's expressions as 'wooden' can shut up after watching episode 9. I savored every glance, stare and changes in his micro expressions when interacting with ZLS. More to come of course but my goodness.

Wu Lei has had a kissing scene before. "Upcoming Summer" from 2021. I think, there might be a kissing scene in…
You just reminded me. That BTS in LLTG is meant to be a full on the lips. The director came over and said "no, not the cheek", lol. When they rehearsed it, they didn't do the full kiss but it would be in the final cut.
