omg, I'm glad I'm not the first to recognize FYK is also in A Dream of Splendor and seeing his two characters as night and day is a whiplash each week given the airing schedule of these two series.
That sense of relief when she stabbed the goblin right in the eye with a hair pin :) We see that WXS is actually…
WXS is actually intelligent from the first episode and he just needs to be consistent with it. Thankfully, seeing that he's not a fool in ep 24 gave me great solace :)
Now I’m about to watch it and reading through the comments plus trailers and such; the one thing I can think…
Good observation! He said that it takes 10 years to bloom once and somehow HFX only has 10 years left...you know what this means...It's not the end for them anytime soon :)
You can’t blame NM, she didn’t mislead Su Weiran. She told him the feeling she have for him it too long ago.…
I agree with you. I don't see NM doing anything wrong. She told Su Weiran more than once that she wasn't ready for a relationship or that her feelings for him is not to the point of having a relationship. YET, he said "I don't mind. I don't want to waste time on waiting." He knew what he was getting into. He just wanted to 'claim' her first before ML could make a move. 100% lack of security on his part.
Love ep 34 where FJ finally speaks the mind of what his father's intentions are. He wasn't wrong when he accused his father of mistreating FLX. Despite passing the test he set for him as proof of his loyalty, his ultimate decision was to banish him from the royal court. The truth is, he feared him and anyone else that was stronger than him. This is why he didn't like his wife (FLX's mother). She was noble and capable. That is why all these years, he's not looked at FLX. In the end, he gives him the title of 'crown prince' because he had no other options - it wasn't because he saw him as being capable and worthy of the title. So while we can all bash about FJ - we have to admit that he wasn't wrong in his view. He reminded me of the princess in Princess Agents (the one who went from carefree innocent to a vengeful and spiteful woman). Her father committed the biggest atrocity by murdering his best friend and his entire family/army. At the end, she did a beautiful speech speaking the minds of the viewers of her father. It's just beautiful when they do that.
Bai Lang Hua is so ridiculous, always accusing our FL for nothing, it's not like they didn't know each other for…
I try to look the other way with certain plot issues to focus on the bigger picture but this moment in ep 32 just about send me off to WTF!?! The rationale behind her mistrust of BFX has no foundation. It wasn't the first time she started doubting BFX. No one in the sect really questions BFX's intentions but at the slightest rumor, she goes off on the accusation end. This time, it's just worst. BFX was the last person who saw her father, her father is dead. Oh, it's totally you did it. And even then, without more than a mere few mins, she is enraged and impulsive enough to just stab her? BFX isn't a nobody to her. From the trailer, I honestly thought BFX got hurt from protecting HFX and that would of been more admirable. But not this.
'Malnourished' 😅😅😅It's the first time I've seen someone pointing this out. Funny but True!
I loved My Bargain Queen which I enjoyed but if I had to pick between Seven Tan and Wu Jin Yan, Seven wins for me! She's so versatile and she doesn't make any scene boring. I'm a big Lin Geng Xin fan and I would watch anything with him in it. While everyone is bashing ML for being terrible - he has redeeming qualities. He's suppose to grow during the series too to become a better version of himself while FL is growing by getting the experience she needs to be successful in the investment world. She has a lot to catch up on.
3 episodes in for now...Love it from the 1st episode. The wait was not a disappointment. I missed seeing Yang Yang in a wuxia drama. His last one that I watched was The Four from 2015. I tried to watch Martial Universe and just couldn't get into it. My fave from him is Whirlwind Girl. Since then, Yang Yang has been in various E sports like series which aren't for me and I longed to see him in the genre I enjoy. Love him here! It's also extremely refreshing to see a FL whom I've liked as well start off as a strong character who can hold her own weight. Not a coming of age hero/heroine but seeing them work together (see episode 3) was just absolutely breathtaking.
Proactive female leads are very common in this genre. It wouldn't be funny if she wasn't shameless 😁
I agree. Maybe it's the storyline and her character but the character is very touchy, literally constantly touching, hugging, holding that does not fit the period. She is literally throwing herself at her. Being proactive is one thing but constantly in his face and being only mere inches apart from each other is too much. It seems like a light heart story which I don't mind.
LOL. Imagine... If we are watching the reincarnation of Wei Ying Luo and Xu Kai Fuca Fu Heng, not much has changed.…
It's not even a proper reincarnation...this predates Yunxi Palace in the timeline. I found their chemistry was amazing in Yunxi Palace but in Royal Feast- it's almost like it's taken for granted and the effort is missing.
Holy mother of rice. I knew the ending was to good to be true. They should have ended where Qy and Ly walking…
You are so right about ending it at the "walking through the tall grass". Heck, they can even throw in that happy and gleeful moment when all three of them were sitting down and planning something fun and let us just enjoy it. It was wholly unnecessary to make a gut wrenching turn of events to speak to the "real truth" behind ML's father's death. We wouldn't have known. We would of been happy when knowing who ordered the death and be done with it. I get using misunderstandings, distance apart to make the heart grow fonder but at this point, it was very far fetched to do it and make us go angsty for no good reason. I still enjoyed the whole series.
I'm at episode 10, but I'm finding FL confusing. We went from a crush, distant admiration to suddenly all out confessions of love? There is literally zero background story about her character. We don't really know where she is from and how she ended up in the palace. There is almost no sense of purpose. I get this isn't Yanxi Palace but at least develop a decent character profile.
Xu Kai on the other hand is impressing me. All other characters are deeply lacking depth and it doesn't seem like a classic Yu Zheng with elaborate plots and in-depth characters.
Love this drama from day 1. Finally, a drama of Jeremy Tsui where he is not overdubbed. Finally, a rarity where the FL isn't annoying. She's not perfect of course but she is someone who you would root for. Her stubbornness isn't at all cost and I love that ML doesn't baby her either. So refreshing to have a decent storyline.
Wow ... what a nice ending to season 1!Epic fight though I wish XFN can fight better n more but understandably…
I'm with you on Zhao Kai. I actually really liked his character and the actor who plays him is the 2nd prince in Joy of Life. I recently saw him in Luoyang and he is really suited for smart roles. I don't necessarily think he was mislead by Han Diaosi but misguided yes. His place in the world is very different from XFN. He had to make a name for himself and he had to make a purpose for himself. No one was there to pave it for him and the only person who gives a damn about him is Han Diaosi. Despite that, he's not necessarily a bad person - he was looking for a way to survive and be more than just a student. I love it when he shows admiration to XFN multiple times and love one of his last few words wasn't about how he hated XFN and jealous that he has everything he's ever wanted in life - but he spent his last few breathes actually praising XFN. What drama character does that (who isn't a protagonist)?
Actually, I am wrong. I got mixed up with another drama that he is ML in which was filmed in 2017 and still not released. It's also a period/war drama so I got confused. THIS series was after Joy of Life.
This series predates Joy of Life by a couple of years but to see a remarkable similarity of ML's character across both different series is amazing. I love his charismatic nature. A good interlude while we all wait for Joy of Life season 2.
Does anyone notice that the ML is NOT constantly dubbed? There are times he is speaking in his actual live voice but then in the same scene, a few seconds later- it's being dubbed over and it does not really sound like him. His actual voice is my god, very very sexy. The dubbed one- ugh..not as much.
Xu Kai on the other hand is impressing me. All other characters are deeply lacking depth and it doesn't seem like a classic Yu Zheng with elaborate plots and in-depth characters.
