Ashes of Love had really powerful characters and an incredible villain whom we do not know whether to pity or…
You raised a real valid point there! Couldn't agree more. I truly enjoyed Ashes of Love for its story and characters' growth. Here, it was a real struggle.
I followed through - 2x speed, from mid to the end of the show. This really has the potential to be on-par with Ashes of Love, but at some point, it was an uphill battle to make it to the ending. If I could sum it up, it will be thanks to Bailing Dijun that this plot could happen. Then again, if he wasn't that stubborn, well, .... Anyway, thanks to this show, I discovered Cheng Yi as a wonderful actor. Can't wait to watch more of his shows (though The Promise of Chang'An was equally or fares worse towards unbearable).
This show turned out better than I thought! While Ireine Song is starting to be stereotypically in these campus dramas (not to mention she has a tendency to act OTT - perhaps a setback due to her actual height?), but she seems to be best matched with Gala Zhang here, of all her dramas that I've seen [Time Teaches Me To Love, The Prince of Tennis, Flavour It's Yours and Professional Single]. And the plot is much deeper and really tugs at the heart, especially on the part between Chi Chi and her family (especially with her mother and father). I truly enjoyed that this show portrays the more realistic part of life - relatable and humble and nothing over-the-top done. I especially appreciated the ending quote [或许有一天,我们 终将明白;只有成为全世界最好的我,才能拥有全世界 最好的你。愿我们每个人,都能成为最好的自己。]. All in all, I am giving this an 8.5. :)
15-18 mins long for ep 41-44 is too short! I wish they could show more! I hope we will be able to see Xu Jin and Fu Rong/Qiao Yi Rong in another full-length drama. And I would love to see both Wu Bai Qi and Fu Xuan in modern garbs too!
The story built up so well, but the writers had to throw in the typical k-thing into the plot, right at the end! I feel cheated of the time I invested in this show. Also, about Ha Young's mom, why o why did they have to put it that way - even after 5 years? Gosh, I'm so annoyed with the ending now. ><
You You is so freaking cute!!! OMG! And boy, he can sure talk too. Hahaha.. Wonder who he takes after... XD But dayum, I need to wait for another week! T___T
If only MGTV does an iQiyi (re: The Blooms at The Ruyi Pavillion)! We get all last 10 episodes in one-go! OMG! This wait is killing me... And there's no ep 25-26 previews to be found either! T_____T
Excellent cast starring in an exhilarating plot but ended up being badly butchered during editing, resulting in weird jumps in the storyline and inconsistent dubbing (voice-mouth movement don't really match). At some points, I have more questions but will probably ever find out the answer. It would be nice if there's a Director's Cut to both Season 1 and 2 to really address gaps and jumps.
