It's understandable that this guy is getting a lot of hate, and well deserved in my opinion BUT a lot of people are forgetting that age of consent is NOT the same as the age of majority. So even if it is proven that KSH did date KSR when she was 15, by SK law at that time, he did nothing criminal or illegal and therefore not punishable.

If using the Age of Majority of 19, at that time, then yes she was a minor, BUT in SK pre-2020, 13 year olds can consent to sex though they cannot vote etc. Only time that he can be convicted is if there's irrefutable fact that he took her by force/rape, but if they are indeed dating for as long as others claim (6 years) it will be harder for them to prove that she was raped, especially if the family knew of their relationship, or that she didn't file rape charges against him while she was still alive.

I came from a country where the age of consent was 12 for the longest time, and I believe that is too young to make decisions to have sex with someone, especially with a significant age gap because they can be swayed without them knowing.
Although I believe there should be exceptions to the rule like Romeo and Juliet laws that some countries put in place if the age of consent is this low. Governments and courts will not have enough resources to charge and convict every 12 or 13 year old who decide to have sexual relations with another 12 or 13 year old. And in KSH, the allegations are not even of SA, but the dating of a minor who is above the age of consent at that time.

Even if he didn't want to do anything with her romantically, the right thing to do is to help her in other ways. Like provide mental health support or at least, do not ask her for money that they know she cannot ever pay back. .That only aggravated her distress.

Exactly. I was a fan of Kim Hyun Joong before the assault case came to light, but even after all the evidence , bruises etc. They merely brushed it off as accidental play fighting. They were more critical of the ex being a money grabber etc, that she faked testimony etc etc, pressure her to withdraw her lawsuit. It was such a mess and KHJ just walked away with a small fine and continued to tour and be in shows, although not as popular as he once was in his peak. Also it would help if international News outlets or even MDL write an article or two about this, but surprisingly it's been quiet here except on this page and his shows.
