I think both politics and romance are equal here.
Politics serve the role of the complex background for all the characters and the social commentary about inequality, roles of royal family and the subjects, men and women etc.
There are episodes where the main couple does not interact almost at all too.

what I'm trying to say, the romance is AMAZING, but it's not the only amazing aspect of this drama 😂

I mean we know Crown Prince dies since they tell us that in episode 1.
But I'm also curious about the 2nd Prince that we... kind of don;t know about nor see at all in the show.

For me it's all. Like her imagining what kind of advice he would give her for the business, her imagining he would be proud of her etc. Especially with her sister telling her he is dead and she should stop thinking about him.

i need to rewatch the preview, but I felt like all of their scenes together there were just her imagining him...

Isn't Young Rang the 15 years old prostitute from episode 2? I don't think yhe supporting characters are in order of importance here. Unless she will have a bigger importance in future episode's

I think it was established that he puts his loyalty to the royal family above all. His goal is to make the king good and wise, he cannot do that if he leaves to Qing. Or he thinks sending envoy to Qing is a bad idea. So he would rather die than betray his own goal of serving the royal family in the way he thinks is right.

I think she is basically hallucinating imagining him being around her, and at some point she basically tells her hallucination to no come, maybe because it's too painful for her.

The king has no idea Jang Hyun exist. It was all done behind King's back by the Crown Prince.

For me, he wants to make the king good and wise, as he said.
1. he cannot do that is he goes to Qing
2. he might think sending anyone to Qing and envoy is bad idea and shows king's weakness.

He did not say he will be faithful to the king, he said he will make the king good and wise. From that I can assume he disagrees sending anyone to Qing is the right choice.

I think he accepted to go to Simyang because he was 100% sure Gil Chae does not like him, and will forever be in love with Yeon Jun. There was no point of him staying, and he kind of want to keep the country stable as much as he can, to keep Gil Chae safe. Just the way he acted as a Spy - trying to help end the war quickly for Hil Chae's sake.

I kind of dislike this idea. Coz I feel like the whole deal of Gil Chae was having this one epic love for the rest of her life, so her marrying someone else when her true love will always be Jang Hyun just does not seem right with how her character was written tbh...

So, I read xinya's post on feeds about episode 7 when i woke up and I kind of agree about the kissing. Like... the scene would be perfect if it ended on him pulling away with a smile before the kiss, but also it would make no sense for him not to kiss especially since it's high time for him to act more serious about his feelings in front of her (since up till now all the serious happened when she wasn't looking). Dude might not see her for god knows how long (what he thinks), so the kiss makes sense. Not to mention if he ended it up on pulling away, from Gil Chae's side it would seem yet again as a silly teasing to see her reaction rather than a true confession.

Do I want Jang Hyun to be all happy? Yes.
Do I think that angst fits him well? Also yes 🤡

He does not have to deal with the internal conflict, like Eun Ae does right now.


THIS IS WHAT I MEAN! Eun Ae saying "If you show your skin to a man, it means you have failed to preserve your chastity" when Gil Chae in episode 1 was like: let me show them some ankle to make them go wild for me 😂 It's obvious one was raised with more freedom than the other. It's obvious one had more restrictions put on her. It's obvious one is a victim of the restrictive social standards and rules, while the other was able to avoid them. I think that's why I like Eun Ae so much, coz I just feel so bad for her. She is mature and good person, I just want to see her be more free.

The best relationship in the drama being between Gil Chae and Eun Ae and I love it 😭😭😭😭

How a woman who dreams of marrying a stable in his feelings guy could be so easily accepting of Jang Hyun? 🤡
