Sun Ho was just an obnoxious acing like he made one mistake for the sake of his dad, when he knew he stole again for the brother's university. You cannot commit the same crime twice and hide behind the "mistake" excuse.
They are both obnoxious, they are both acting as if they are right and had reason for doing what they done. They both have a massive room for improvement. And I think that's the point of this show. They are now on the opposite sides, but eventually they will meet in the middle.
The good:
😊 Family dynamics. Sun Ho/Seung Bum/dad's scenes are my favorite for sure. Love the scene when Sun Ho confronted the dad saying he does not treat him the same way he treats Seung Bum, and the dad's reply. Love the scene where Seung Bum confronted Sun Ho for not telling him about police university. Sun Ho tries to be the least of a problem for them as possible, hence he does not share, does not asks question etc., while Seung Bum and the dad want him to treat them as he would treat his own family - as for help, get angry, get annoyed if he does not like something, share his plans and ideas. But from the looks of it, we ain't getting more of the family scenes lol
😊 Yoo Dong Man's character. At the moment he sucks, but that's exactly what's fun, coz there is a lot for space to grow. His "ideas" are not evil or bad, but he just makes all the decisions based on emotions and impulse and no reasoning and calculation. He os quick to judge and not able to admit he might be wrong.
😊 Choo Young Woo - don't mind me, I just like ma BL boiz getting roles in bigger productions 🤣
😊 Ending song is a bop!
The bad:
🙃 The romance. Listen... It could work if they did not make Sun Ho "emotionless/passionless" character at the beginning. Make him a teenage boi without any dream, make him fall for Kang Hee and follow her to police university - all of that is fine and believable. But when you deliver me a whole ass scene about how wonders how it feels like to have so much joy, passion and drive for anything, coz he never felt it, and him being passive about literally EVERYTHING... the whole "big love out of the ass" seems ridiculous.
🙃 First half of the first episode - damn it was stupid. The over the top comedy and ridiculous effects... Nah. And it does not even fit the rest of the tone of the episodes. The show is more chill than what first 30 minutes show. The comedy got so much better in episode 2. It's more context driven and chill.
I don't know yet:
🤔Sun Ho's character. They thrown quite a "twist" at the end of episode 2 and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Do I root for him or nah? With what happened I'm kind of on Dong Min's side now with how he treats Sun Ho. Coz at the end of the day, that's how it goes: you will always fine a good excuse for your wrongdoings. There is always a "valid" reason behind it.
Na Bi should end as a solo act and work on herself. Girl has NO IDEA who she is, what she wants, what she needs, what are her goals. Like... damn. Time out in self-reflection corner is highly needed.
Also, as for the manpower etc, I am pretty sure they did not have a big budget for it. The CGI and practical effects kind of show how limited the production was...
Production wise this drama is quite flawed, but I think (like me) many people loved it for the writing and characters.
Saying he does not know and he needs time is a weakness, and he has no idea how to deal with his own weaknesses and how to deal with people finding them out.
I think that's the problem here, for TK it's just a high school crush problem, for DO it's a complete shift of reality and his perception of who he is, what he wants and how she should act. The sense of self and who he is is being dismantled and he has no idea what to do. And I think TK just does not understand that.
TK is reaaaaaaalllyyyy one sided about his crush on DO. He wants things his way, otherwise he also leave and is disappointed (it's not only on DO to run away from things). TK is not exactly trying to understand things from DO perspective. Now that he sees there is more to DO than being nice and protective and helpful, he keeps getting disappointed and wanting answers Da On is not ready to give.
I am honestly not sure if TK likes DO as a person, or if he just liked his perception of DO and how he treated him. For me it looks like he just likes how he helped TK get out of the shell, taught him how to make friends and be more open. TK seemed to like someone noticing him, paying attention to him and caring for him, rather than liking DO as an individual. If someone else was nice to him like DO was, he might have liked that person instead.
TK technically told DO that he still liked him even after seeing his flaws, but did he really? How he acted in episode 12 does not fit that. DO tried to take one step closer to TK after the rumor when he prepared the notes for TK. That's all he can do at the moment, as he is not as straightforward as TK, and he cares more about what will people say. But TK does not want "one step" he wans everything out in the open and honest. He did not get it, he was disappointed and left. But that insecure and cautious person is DO. I feel like the more of the true DO TK will see, the less strong his feelings will be.
Even his chat with SW, he was remembering how DO was the one to teach him about friendship etc., there was not much about why he liked DO as a person...
Anyway, DO needs to figure shit out, poor boy. I don't think he should be getting himself in a relationship at the moment. Everything is chaotic enough for him as it is...
Also, the first scene happens 2 years in the future, I guess we can assume it will in that time line point too, so going by that logic, maybe we will see time jump (hopefully not, coz I am not a fan of them).
I also question if TK even likes DO, ot he just "liked" how he helped TK get out of the shell and have a more sociable life with friends. TK technically told DO that he still liked him even after seeing his flaws, but did he? Coz his actions says otherwise. DO took a step forward when he prepared the notes for TK, but TK does not want "one step" he wans everything out in the open and honest, and when he did not get it, he was disappointed and left. Even his chat with SW, he was remembering how DO was the one to teach him about friendship etc., there was not much about why he liked DO as a person.
One more thing, I think there were "hinting" SW being the end game since the beginning with small stuff like "the ones that argue the most like each other the best" etc.
Someone in the comment had this theory and I agree with it: most likely TK will start liking SW, but SW will be blind to it, thinking TK sees him as nothing more than friend so they were dance around each other a little bit.
But yeah, I am pretty sire Shin Woo is the ML. Enemies to lovers, secret crush, dildo in the ass... they have everything going on for them 🤣
There is no point in discussing it.
Also, Shi Woon is the best boi ever.
So this pairing is impossible to make them both happy.
Also, Na Bi did tell him it's not for her, and she wants to end it. Even with that, he kept going after her 🤣
That said, while at first I could excuse Na Bi deciding to try hooking up with PJE since she was hurt and vulnerable after last relationship, by now it's all on her. They are worth each other, let them stay in the messed up "relationship", and leave others out of it. Potato boi deserves better.
they are both messed up. They should both stay away from relationships for a while and work on themselves as individuals.
Hope you will survive hahaha
Now, they had to think about many aspects, but especially the money. If they cut his parts short, they might anger some fans. If they keep him in they might anger some fans, no difference here. BUT with keeping him there might be some issues with sponsors of the show etc. So they did what they had to do to save the show.
You can drop it coz they cut him off the project. I would drop it if they kept him in. Perfect example that there is no good way out of it for JTBC.
They had to cut his parts off coz they would loose audience otherwise. I for sure would stop watching if they kept him in. ESPECIALLY taking into consideration the type of character he plays here. It would just leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Also, the production team sign a contract with someone of a good reputation and no scandals. They have the right to cut him off, if the scandal breaks down and it can negatively affect the drama.
If he was cheating for 6 years it's not just a one time mistake, he just a shitty person.
