it's a bit more tell than show in the first two episodes (so I get all the boring comments) but it picked up a bit after that now that they're actively solving a case instead of showing off the ML's smarts (just finished episode 4.)

yes, sometimes when I rewatch scenes from Scent of Time it's just not...right haha. I hope he (and whoever is in charge of his schedule) finds the time. Tang Palace might be the one in immediate danger since it was the drama he was talking about. but LIRD might be like Perfect Match which was a mix of live sound and dubbing. the serious dramas usually use live sound too.

he said in a livestream a few months ago that he gets bored when he's not doing anything so it seems like he'll be a workaholic for the next few years now that he's getting more offers lol (the only downside is he also said that back to back filming is not friendly to dubbing schedules so he might not be able to voice all his dramas like he did before.)

Bao Hu Feng He (Violent Tiger Feng He) - from Yu Zheng's clues, this seems to be the drama that will start filming in September. it's a double ML police/anti-drug thriller with an award winning veteran actor (🍉Wang Qian Yuan.) the director is Xing Jian Jun (Under the Skin.) haven't seen rumors of the platform or the screenwriter yet. the younger ML role is an ex-con accused of murdering his wife (WXY will have to shave off his hair for prison scenes.) the melon owner described it as "a thrilling western-style crime drama with police, criminals, and informants who constantly switch roles."
Lie Xin (Heart Hunter) - YZ said that WXY was approached for this after they had signed on to a drama and that he wants to do both but it depends on everyone's schedules. if the production team is willing to wait for him to finish that other drama (and it doesn't delay Xing Zhi Wan) maybe it can still work out.
Gao Bai (Confession) - rumored to have approached Zhang Xiao An (Always Home, Deep Affection Eyes) to direct. no news if WXY is still attached.
aside from that YZ says he has 12 scripts to choose from under Youku (suspense and historical scripts), Mango (house fighting and modern), and iQiyi (historical). guess Tencent is really serious about only using their contracted actors, or they're waiting for XZW's results before they offer him scripts.

There was an advance viewing of the first 2 episodes at a cinema today with the creators and they said it was originally a 24 episode shared revenue (usually this means B-tier) drama that iQiyi liked and upgraded to 36 episodes with a better rating. A B drama won't jump to an S. Maybe at most an A+ since they seem to be giving it a marketing push right now.

I've been following casting/industry news on Douban since last year and this was always noted as a low budget A project. Weibo accounts like your source just upgraded it after Wang Xingyue broke out in The Double and iQiyi put it in their summer schedule. (There is also another cdrama titled Ding Feng Bo on Youku which is the actual S tier project and may have caused confusion.)
I can't track down the links now but WXY signed on to this drama around March 2024 when his status was barely C-list, his other ML roles in iQiyi were also A tier (Your Sensibility My Destiny, First Love), while his second ML roles were A+ tier (One and Only, Story of Kunning Palace.) It is not in iQiyi's nature to suddenly let him lead an S-tier drama based on these roles. The rest of the cast are even more unknown than him. Plus, the director's recent works are short dramas, and the head screenwriter has no hits/awards or even representative works. The only one in the creative team with enough status for an S tier project is Zhao Dongling and her credit here is as a production designer, not as an award winning writer. (This drama is also co-produced by Upcoming Legend, her production company.)

VIP calendar seems to be 6 episodes at 6pm for the premiere then 2 episodes every day after EDIT: until Aug 14 then it'll be 1 episode for the last 4 episodes, ending on Aug 18. Non-VIP is 2 episodes on Aug 1 and 1 episode every day after.
+ they held an advance screening today and most of the feedback was that the first 2 episodes felt like setup (which is what it should be lol) but the end of the 2nd episode is really good so hopefully the audience will continue watching after. they're too long and mostly gushing from fans so I won't post here but you can search "定风波repo" if you have xhs/rednote.
Tencent announce xing zhi wan in conference so it's not cancelled, maybe it's not connected to yu zheng anymore
how can it not be connected to yu zheng? he owns the copyright of the novel it's based on. if tencent cancels their contract, he'll sell the drama to another platform.
