Yes, that’s true, and you’re right. But corporate succession isn’t the same as royal succession, which is governed by rigid, predefined rules. The grandfather’s shares are, ultimately, his personal property, and he is legally entitled to dispose of them in whatever manner he believes is best, whether for himself or for the company. Succession and all related matters arise when shareholders die, whether with or without a will. Moreover, holding shares doesn’t automatically mean he has to run the company himself; he can always appoint professional managers to handle day-to-day operations.

If that evil Sheng pulls something truly awful, he could end up losing his stake in the group altogether, and the shares might go to LYS, ultimately being managed by NXG. After all, Grandpa did say he was giving evil Sheng one last chance. So fingers crossed for NXG becoming her boss.

Am I reading too much into it, or are all those scenes of NXG’s dad feeling nauseous, getting headaches, and falling unwell just foreshadowing LYS eventually treating him, or at least diagnosing him or something?

That guy’s a lost cause. I don’t think he’ll ever see his own faults. He’ll probably go on believing NXG broke her ‘keep loving him’ promise and that he got cheated, without ever really thinking about what he did wrong, or what he failed to do when it mattered.
