Watched this like 3 times already. Honestly, it’s an annual holiday for me at this point. I get Mouse fever at least once a year and have to cure that itch every time by rewatching it. Never misses. A cinematic masterpiece that’s reigned in my first place out of ALL the kdramas I’ve watch SINCE 2021. 4 years strong!

I saw a post on Twitter that mentioned a ‘Zhou Yin,’ who could possibly be one of CDLs characters. I didn’t see a Zhou Yin in the cast lineup, so I assumed it was ‘Jiu Ying’ haha.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my Jilu CP, but I’m starting to feel like squidward when he’s asking for spare change or should I say “spare crumbs, spare crumbs please,” for my double Wu CP.
On the bright side, I’m hoping that, despite the little interaction they may have, their scenes would be oozing with chemistry. Kind of like GSJ and SQQ. Subtle but powerful. They’re both the serious and calculating type, which is generally a rare dynamic to see. I wonder how their relationship will develop.
I’m so happy to see Dudu on the schedule today. I don’t know if I’ve been missing out on something, but it feel like I haven’t seen her since her all black costume.
I took a look at the novel’s synopsis and was a bit confused. Was it a GL? Mei Jiu and An Jiu are two different people but An Jiu took Mei Jiu’s identity?
As someone who watches a good share of their BL, I came in knowing that this drama was going to be based off such a novel. However, after watching it through, the decision to make it a bromance instead couldn’t be more befitting. I feel like this type of narrative is far more profound if it were to be told in a non-romantic way— of one that focuses on the growth and development of the characters, of a coming of age where we can see the ‘wise’ older MC interact with his younger peers in a mentor type of way. Overall, it was memorable and good slice of life with more pros than I can see cons. While I totally understand people’s disappointment in the fact that they straight washed the novel, I feel like, for this specific type of dynamic, this version is good as well. If I ever need to feel empowered and lowkey depressed, this will be one of my picks to watch.
It’s definitely happening. Up said in an interview that production will start next year. So, the finished product will probably be released in mid-late 2026.
