I remember FC Soldout! You're right, that was a whole mess. Viki subs are mostly community driven, and the subs are good for the most part, but considering they are made by the community, there are unfortunately some subs that don't quite hit the mark.

Oh, yes I have seen people talking about those Lost To You subs! I'm unsure exactly what Gaga's procedure with acquiring subs is like, but those in particular give me fansub vibes, and I think I recall even seeing some screenshots of certain Gaga subs being accredited to some fansubbers.
Thanks for the heads up about A Winter Sun, btw! I'll make sure to check it out on YouTube instead. I wasn't even aware it was there because last I checked, there was no link on the MDL page.
Edit: Nah, these AI subs are awful. At least the Gaga subs for A Winter Sun are human made, though they can absolutely be improved!

Are you talking about A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hill's Dream? Because that one I can kinda get, but I also kind of like them just summarizing instead of covering the screen with direct translations. Gaga subs are kind of limited because it seems they are strictly .srt, so it's not like they can change the placement of the subs on the screen (which I have seen them do a few times on iQIYI.) Also, the other Gaga series you're talking about reminds me of War of Y, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were more of them. Maybe iQIYI mostly has an issue translating on-screen text for Thai titles specifically? Because I find myself constantly having to pull out a translator app myself just to get a general idea of what the on-screen text says. There is also a currently airing Thai series where there is one character that speaks Korean in like the first episode, and that also wasn't translated for some reason.
episodes 1-2• Pretty sure the title sequence is AI 🤢 but it still kinda eats 😲• A crazy woman• Clothes…
Regarding the title sequence: they literally have a disclaimer that says "Some scenes in this video were generated using AI," (according to the Gaga subs anyway) and there are also some AI related titles in the end credits. They absolutely use AI, but at least they seem pretty transparent about it (which is more than I can say for some other series out there.)
Edit: I just checked the iQIYI version and they removed the AI disclaimer as well as the end credits? Anyway, it's all there in the Gaga version, so...
Ya’ll do realize this is enemies to friends trope (not explicitly) in a psychological thriller, right? This…
Thank you for acknowledging QPRs! Not everyone are familiar with the term, but I do wish they would lean more into and embrace the queerness for this kind of relationship and explicitly name it as such while also saying it's non-romantic. QPRs can really be anything so long as it deviates from the norm of what one considers friendships or romantic relationships to be, which by definition would make it queer. Calling it "deep friendship" is not exactly right, because it's more than that, but also not romantic.
Edit: Important to note that QPRs aren't exclusive to a-spec people even though that's where it originated.
I’m sorry but do you even know what queer baiting actually is bc neither of those two are that.
Oh for sure! And I absolutely see other problems arising from that as well, especially regarding pink money and fans complaining about how it "isn't queer enough." But I do wish that queerplatonic was a more commonly acknowledged term because I think that would actually make this good rep for us in the queer community who are often overlooked. Now it just feels like some weird kind of appropriation to me, but that's just a personal opinion.
I’m sorry but do you even know what queer baiting actually is bc neither of those two are that.
I just mean they have to be explicit about how it is a queer series despite not being romance. That's really it. Like I said, a QPR can really be anything that deviates from what one would normally consider a friendship and romantic relationship to be. It really is up to each individual couple. It's very open in that way.
I’m sorry but do you even know what queer baiting actually is bc neither of those two are that.
Yes, it is something that is mostly known in aroace circles, and as an asexual person myself whose ideal relationship is a QPR, I think it would be great rep if they leaned into the queer aspects more and made it explicit. 'Explicit' being an important part here or it is in fact just bait.
No one who's been arguing here today has said "every drama with two male main leads MUST be BL," please…
I'm not denying those kinds of comments exist, but none of the comments I have seen HERE in this comment section from today has argued anything of the sort. At least not yet. I also do not agree with spreading any hate for the actors. Their wishes of not wanting to do BL should be respected 100% I don't have a problem with that. My issue lies entirely in GMMTV's marketing. Please see mine as well as Lady_Kexing's comments below.
I’m sorry but do you even know what queer baiting actually is bc neither of those two are that.
(My bad, I wrote it wrong, it's queerplatonic in one word. Got confused by English grammar)
The way you are describing their platonic love IS queerplatonic because it deviates from the "norm" of both friendships and romantic relationships, which would in fact make it queer. Please look up what queerplatonic actually means because it's not just queer + platonic, it can really be anything, but if you are going for a queerplatonic story, it needs to be explicitly stated imo.
I’m sorry but do you even know what queer baiting actually is bc neither of those two are that.
GMMTV could at the very least not lean this heavily into their queerbait marketing to appeal to THE AUDIENCE, as you put it. What you're describing seems more like a queer platonic relationship, which I am all for, but then they need to make it explicit that that is what it is. They should just explicitly make it queer in that case.
I’m sorry but do you even know what queer baiting actually is bc neither of those two are that.
My problem has always been with the MARKETING from GMMTV. There are absolutely ways of making a series about a platonic friendship between two men, but this is not it, unfortunately. Not to mention there are also ways to make it explicitly queer without making it a BL. If you can show me a platonic series/pair between a man and a woman that is being marketed in the exact same way, that would be a different story, but you and I both know that's not the case.
Wonder why that is. /s
To me the marketing feels like BL Liteâ„¢ to the point where it really bothers me. I also don't mind that certain actors don't want to do BL, that's fully within their rights and should be respected, but why then make it anything but a one-time thing? If it's just this one series from DewTee, I am personally willing to let it slide, but I will still point out how the marketing is absolutely queerbait.

Do they or do they not include certain scenes in the trailer to entice the shippers? This is very blatant queerbait. Any more blatant and they'd literally be spelling it out.
