GMMTV's main demographics are teens, and high school and university are some of the settings most people can relate to in general. It's the same reason why a lot of anime are about high schoolers.

Absolutely! The point I am trying to make is that neither did SKNN fans until they saw some kind of benefit from it by weaponizing her against other queer people—AFTER Gaga announced they removed Wu from their platform. They had several days to bring her up, but no one (or at least very few) from either side did.

"I find some sourced that confirm my opinion," congrats, that's called confirmation bias. Also your own source says LESS than five years. How many years are between 15 and 20 again?

Oh yes absolutely, I meant nothing against that, but I have seen people bring up Godji (and also the director) almost as some kind of gotcha in this situation, and that really doesn't sit well with me. I don't think I saw a single person bring up Godji until after Gaga announced they were removing Wu from their platform. Obviously, this is only based on what I personally saw, but it feels like no one brought up Godji until she became relevant /to them/.
Edit: I'm NOT trying to imply you are doing any of this, but some people are in fact weaponizing Godji against other queer people, and I just wanted to point that out because your comment specifically mentioned Godji and I used it kind of as a segue.

In Japan it is in fact illegal for adults to engage in sexual activities with someone who is considered a minor. Even before they amended the national age of consent, the ages varied from prefecture to prefecture, but it ranged from 16-18.
no hate but the focus on fixed ships is irritating me kinda
I get you. It's like the characters can't just exist by themselves and they need to make sure the actors are still the actual focus. It's cute when there are cameos every now and then, but they've kind of been beating us over the head with it for a while now...

Hey, really quick, what is the ACTUAL age of consent in Japan? I bet you'll get it wrong!
Answer: Right now it is 16 nationally, but even before they recently amended the national age of consent, each prefecture had it set separately, ranging somewhere between 16-18. There were two Japanese territories where the age of consent was 13, and unless I am mistaken, those were populated by old people.

I know you're not responding to my comment, but I just want to add something regarding your first point, hope that's okay.
Personally, I would have been more open to Wu being on Gaga IF they would have highlighted the trans/kathoey rep, but unfortunately that was just never where Gaga themselves put the emphasis and they instead basically just went "no guys trust us, it's still gay even if they don't say it 🌈" a couple of times and then dipped for a few days when they faced the backlash. The note they made when they announced their decision to have it removed from the platform says a lot, in my opinion.
I've seen a few people now bring up Godji, and I think that's great, but then Gaga should have been more clear on that being the reason from the get-go, and not further fuel the fire.

I genuinely appreciate the hell out of you! Thank you so much for taking the time to both read and respond to my comments!
Yes, my main issue has always been with the way Gaga has been marketing of this series. Sorry I didn't make that very clear in my initial comment. I feel like there are definitely other ways they could've gone about accepting this kind of licensing deal, and I might have been able to look past the initial tags on the platform itself and just dismissed them as a mistake if it wasn't for the two other instances of, frankly, queerbaiting.
If you are speculating about what I think you are, then I absolutely agree. What was it that made Gaga want the license for this series in the first place? Were they always aware, or were they also—for lack of a better word—baited? We may never know, and I don't want to dwell on it for too long because it doesn't help the situation. Simply knowing it is at the very least plausible is enough.
Once again, thank you so much for being willing to have this kind of conversation with me. I really appreciate it. Usually I'm just met by people interpreting everything as an attack when my stance this entire time has more been towards Gaga and also GMMTV as a corporate entity. Being able to actually have a conversation and finding myself agreeing with most if not all of your points has been really refreshing. Thank you.

This is so well put, thank you! My problem is with the way Gaga were initially trying to sell it with a 🌈 emoji on twitter and included tags like: Gay, Crush, BL, Office-Romance. Let's not forget how they in the comments for the announcement in their Instagram stories, they said "Everybody's gay unless they come out as straight" Is this not false advertisement or at the very least very disrespectful towards the LGBTQ+ community and the rest of the queer content on their platform? Things were already tense enough, and then they went and did that and plugged in their ears instead of responding to any criticism. Of course, they have since removed those tags, but it caused a lot of unnecessary backlash towards pretty much every party involved, including Sky and Nani.
I am aware that not every queer story needs to be a love story, I never said anything like that. You can absolutely have a story focusing on friendship and have it still be queer. I am also aware it's not exactly the first time Gaga has done this either; may I add My Strawberry Film to your list as well? The main story is certainly not queer, but there is a side character that is, but if I recall correctly, there really wasn't that much focus on it.
I'd have less of a problem with it if they were more upfront about it from the get-go, and didn't just drop this bomb out of nowhere. I lost a lot of respect for them with this.

Of course! These are all very good points, but just recently a listing on Gaga caught so much backlash to the point they pulled it from the platform. The listing is technically still available, but it now just says "coming soon" and I believe this happened on the day of the initial release, if not the day before—granted, there were legal issues involved, but none of those legal issues technically had anything to do with Gaga (unless I am mistaken.) I think with enough backlash, we might be able to get Wu pulled from Gaga as well, but for now, Gaga prefers sticking their head in the sand. If you're able, please do boycott watching it on Gaga and if you're subscribed, I urge you to unsubscribe and state the reason as blatant false advertisement (though it did get corrected a few days later after even more backlash) for a non-queer series.
I acknowledge we might not be able to get it pulled this time, but we might still be able to stop it from happening again in the furure!
They once again confirmed it is not a Y-series and Gaga has already removed any queer-related tags from their listing, so can we please just have it removed from Gaga already? I think it would all-around be better for fans if it was available on a platform a lot of people already have access to like Netflix, Viki or iQIYI, and not a more niche platform like Gaga.
I'm really not trying to start a war here, nor am I attacking anyone. I have nothing against the existence of the series as a whole, and I hope it is successful, and that everyone who will be tuning in will have a great time watching! I just don't want Gaga to be an official distributor in this case as I feel like it is not the appropriate platform for it. I hope that is understandable.
Edit: I apologize for not making it clearer originally, but my issues mainly lie in the way Gaga has been marketing this series by: - using a 🌈 emoji in the announcement on both twitter and Instagram - saying "Everybody's gay unless they come out as straight" in response to their own Instagram Story of the announcement (and also removing the ability for anyone else to comment, though this may be the norm for them, I am not sure) - originally making the tags on their platform: Gay, BL, Crush, Office-Romance (I could have looked past this and brushed it off as a mistake if it weren't for the other two previously mentioned instances)
Taking this into consideration, I do hope more people decide to support the series by other means as it really does not sit well with me that a queer platform like Gaga is considered an official distributor—especially when it comes to the aforementioned things and how they (seemingly) refuse to be more transparent about it.
I'm hoping the fact that the schedule post is mostly in Thai means that it's for Thailand and it will still be…
Yeah, I have noticed their marketing seems to be more directed towards their Thai audience, so I guess we'll just have to keep an eye out for any platforms it might pop up on internationally. My guess is Viki because that is the platform with the least region blocks, and a lot of their series tend to end up there regardless.
To be honest, the only point I want to talk on is the Gaga part. I don't have and have never had Gaga before,…
Yes, exactly! Things were already so volatile and then Gaga dropped that they would be an official distributor of the series in some territories, making everything even worse. They seem to at least have removed the misleading tags now, but that still doesn't negate the blatant false advertising that they have been doing for the series up until this point. In the comments of their Instagram story announcing Wu would be available on their platform, they said "Everybody's gay unless they come out as straight" which just feels tone-deaf considering the situation.
I absolutely agree that using this situation to attack either SKNN or the series does not help at all, and we should direct out attention towards Gaga and GMMTV as a corporate entity, and you're right, the only way we can really do that is by boycotting, but it can't just be boycotted by the people who never intended on watching it in the first place, actual fans have to join in on boycotting it on Gaga specifically as well if it's gonna have any effect. The downside is that some fans would be left without a way of watching the series legally, as not everyone has access to a VPN, which is why we all need to come together and try to get it off of Gaga now before it starts airing. Maybe that's a bit idealistic, but hey, they pulled Wooju Bakery recently (though that one did have a whole legal issue involved,) so maybe that could be worth a shot?
You can look at it as a glass half full or a glass half empty—the gagaolala stream can use that money to invest…
This is a nice way of looking at it, I suppose. Still a bit naïve because it doesn't actually address the issue of having a non-queer series on their platform while marketing it as queer, but I do appreciate the sentiment and that you're trying to look on the brighter side.
Edit: I'm NOT trying to imply you are doing any of this, but some people are in fact weaponizing Godji against other queer people, and I just wanted to point that out because your comment specifically mentioned Godji and I used it kind of as a segue.
