Well yes, because the runtime for Japanese episodes is drastically shorter than Thai ones. It's not about it being 100% like the Thai version, it's about how it has 0 identity of its own. Sure some things are changed, but when a lot of it is almost shot-for-shot the exact same, genuinely what is the point? Hell, all three main versions of Ossan's Love (JP, HK, TH) feel drastically different and despite telling the same story, they all have their own identity.

I thought this was about the other Fluke he was originally paired with for this series...

Yes, this! This is why I couldn't bring myself to like the Japanese version of Love Sea more than the Thai one because it just felt like the exact same series but they're Japanese. Like at least do something different!
Comparing it to the Thai adaptations of originally Japanese BLs, at least it feels like they have their own identity despite the main plot being the exact same. I actually really liked the Thai version of both Cherry Magic and My Love Mix-Up (yes, ads and all.)

They basically use AI in every part with a voiceover, sometimes interspersed by actual clips, but all the "art" featured is AI generated images.

Also look closely at the hand of the character holding a palette. That is not how you hold a palette🥀

Also respectfully, because this is Siwaj's work, I'm keeping my expectations low for the series in general. That man is spreading himself way too thin in my opinion and is unable to give each series the love and care they deserve.

I just hope they won't use the horrid AI transitions—that I saw they used for the special last week—between each part. It genuinely made me recoil the first time I saw it. Ew.

For everyone complaining about the bad subs online, there are better ones, but you must know where to look. DM me and I'll tell you where you can find better subs, but be aware it might take some time since I'm uncertain if they have registrations open at the moment...

The backgrounds at the very least are 100% AI, which unfortunately makes the character art likely AI as well, as well as the little animation that is 100% interpolated...

In my head I was comparing it with how you often need a license to use art or an asset commercially. It's not quite the same when it comes to AI (as we all know it's trained on thousands upon thousands of stolen artwork in the first place,) but it does mean that even though you may have paid for a piece of art, you as a matter of fact cannot use it however you want and there are certain limitations – which ideally I think should also apply to training AI models.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but even though Koh "owns" the art pieces, Jira should still have the copyright, right? So technically Koh still stole his work despite buying and owning it.
It's not like he paid for a license to use it however he sees fit.
