first episode was cool. unfortenately for everyone doing shows and cinema, if there's ever a remote similar vibe with the movie "fight club", people will instantly catch it. i am curious to see if this is it, or if the writers intend to do other things with the plot. you don't even have to watch the full 1st episode to understand where it's going. hopefully the story will have more on the table.
Can anyone tell the reason for the main lead breakup?
the reason is not out yet, and i dont know if it will be. i took it as she has a really difficult personality and sometimes she's a bit mean and never says what she wants to say. while even though he is quite mature, when he is with her he becomes chilldish and unable to control his feelings and say what he wants to say too.
back in the old days, she was always asking him questions in order to hear "i love you" "i need you", but because he is awkward or just thought some things dont even need to be said if you feel them, he ended up just never getting into her "what if" games. when she was so visibily asking for attention and affection/confirmation.
when things are left answered and two personalities cant come together, people break up because of "one stain in the shirt" - obviously never about that, people suddendly just had enough of waiting for things to get better, for comunication to get better.
A really good drama but I didn't expect it, that it will go sooo famous worldwide!??
i think it's closer to american productions, both in gore and the concept of games. easy on western audiences than a typical romance full of cute nonsense and aegyo.
What's funny to me it's that out of all the kdramas ever created, not only this had the most views on Netflix, it's also in the TOP2 of the most watched shows of all time on Netflix. Meanwhile i am out here thinking "i just watched this cause i watch a lot of kdramas anyway" xD what has the GP seen in this story?
But well i have never found a survival show/movie that i loved, so that also explains it. Alice in boderline + plus all those crappy american movies including hunger games... they are all medium to mediocre to me. This one is a solid 7 or 8. It's fine.
i think most people here are obsessed with romance and "real love" in the traditional sense. that's probably why…
i can agree to that. which is why i take this kdrama as a slice of life story. as in, she chose him, for now. but sooner or later since she craves relationships with real connections, she will end up having to break this relationship up. we as an audience will not get to see that, cause its a one season show, but from what they hinted in the end, i dont think they will like get marry and have kids you know? x) it's like a thing they are having. both accepting whatever that is for now.
i think most people here are obsessed with romance and "real love" in the traditional sense. that's probably why…
i didn't reply to you before. idk if it looked like that. i think it's ok to have whatever they have, if they both understand the rules for that relationship. if both of them are just craving human contact and lust, then as long as both of them are in the same page, it's fine by me. relationships without much romantic nuances are also ok by me. it all depends on what people want and expect from human interaction.
couldn't agree more. most people really don't take well "slice of life" kdramas.not every drama has to have a…
that's how you perceive it? i didn't saw it like that at all. all i saw was a girl that despite all the red flags still wants to go forward with it and pretend to believe he changed. we watched this kdrama in Nabi pov, so it's hard to tell sometimes, but i don't think PJ changed at all. Yes he missed her, and felt quite empty without her, but give them a few months together... he will most likely go back to his old self. even so, like nabi said "i will probably regret this, but i still want to do it... nevertheless-". her choice.
looking at some of my friends in toxic relationships today, while being very well aware the relationship has a deadline, i would say this was very accurate.
for me he didn't became good. not even Nabi really believes it. She even hides her hand in the thought of potato boy catching them date fr. She knows she chose "wrong", but she is taking ownership over her decisions either way and go until the end.
There are so many people who has an open relationship or no relationship at all. Some people choose to hang out…
i think most people here are obsessed with romance and "real love" in the traditional sense. that's probably why this does not work for them. even if the main leads are actually more obsessed with each other rather than madly in love, it's also ok. not everyone loves people in the same format. for people that believe that "real relationships" are about "being in love, trust each other and make a sort of promise together" they will not tolerate this kdrama. i for once think as long as everyone playing knows the rules, i don't care. some people only date 1 person, others date several, others need true love, others just need a sort of companionship and lust. as long as all parts are well informed of the relationship dynamic, i don't care. mono, poly... do whatever you want. as long no ones is lying nonstop to gatekeep a relationship going.
just because you don't like the nature of the main relationship doesn't mean the show is bad. i just don't understand…
perhaps most people need to relate with the main leads to like a story?! like i would do everything differently from Nabi. Like sh~it... everything! but i still tried to understand her the whole time and see how for a personality like hers, it's so hard to say no to someone you are so in love with. i absolutely do not have to relate with any actions from main leads to adore and love a story. this was very well portrait for me. the actors did so well!!
I am actually happy with the ending. I agree it was a wrong choice, 100%... Nevertheless, she went with what her…
think so too. i think she even needs to go deeper into it until she finds the strengh to let go. everyone around her saying "you deserve better" will only fuel the feelings she has for him even more. sometimes to close a door you need to really open it first.
The ending was unfortunately the most realistic I think. She likes him, but she knows he'll make her suffer, but…
couldn't agree more. most people really don't take well "slice of life" kdramas. not every drama has to have a "message" for the viewers, nor i have to relate to the characters. we are all responsible for our own decisions and actions. just like nabi. if we ever take this harsh path, it's our journey for the time being until we figured it out.
each ep has 30min, so yes. 10min each part, makes up for full eps. by the end of each ep (part 3) it has that "in the next ep this will happen", showing it is indeed the end of the ep.
But I can’t ignore the way they made some questionable directions on PJE’s character like him seeing her during…
i would be creeped out to my core. not only he looked once again as a creep, that art piece was Nabi folded down in a sexual pose. the way i chose to go with all of this, is how we know (as the audience) and even she knows just how wrong her decisions are, yet literally she goes "well nevertheless".
all i see is red flags i take the slight romantization of his character not as character development but as "this is why these toxic man keep getting what they want, look at him go". one scene he is the epitome of red flag, in the next he kind looks sweet and with some development. yet we as the audience don't buy it. not even Nabi. she just wants to believe he changed at force lol it will absolutely blow on her face later on.
Some people in here have me really confused not gonna lie. "this was like some of my previous relationships, i kept making the wrong decisions and comeback to the same toxic man every time. the ending of this kdrama is not realistic though... sad."
???? it's literally that. in the end no matter what, she chosed to believe the toxic dude one more time. even when the director was trying to paint it all beautiful Nabi said " i know i will regret this later on but i still want to do this nevertheless" and the way she almost pulled her hand back when seeing potato boy from afar, already hints how she knows her decision was wrong. hinting some conflict within already, but for now, she will go for this.
For me the ending of this kdrama does not represent the end of her life. This is more like a slice of life kdrama. A fraction in one's life. If this was a show with several seasons i bet she would end up having a different ending.
