This series will be released over five (5) years. So the final episode of the series will come out probably in 2023...

It is based on the web novel series Qing Yu Niang, which is a work of around 3.7 million words with one of highest rating of its kind - an average score of 9.4 given by 979 of its VIP readers.
The author, Mao Ni is probably the first web novelist in China who is able to secure deals involving his works from start to conclusion over multiple seasons/years from not just one but two different highly committed and professional teams.

Good news for those waiting on this, the world premiere date on Hunan TV is July 9th 2018.
It is now slotted on their 'Youth to march' network brand line-up, so it should be 6 episodes per week.

I have high hopes for this show - director Yu Rong Guang is underrated (few people here knew he has directed a drama with 9.2 rating on kisskh), and I am eager to see what he can do with a huge budget for the first time. (Caveat: Fans of source novel might not like changes made in the TV adaptation).

Trivia:
Novoland: Eagle Flag is adapted for screen by it's original author and a team that included another Novoland writer, Shuang Cheng who was a screenwriter for TVB Hong Kong and author of Novoland: Nomad.

Just updated the SOTK cast list again on this site, is still far from complete but I think I have tagged everyone with an entry currently in the 'people' database on kisskh who worked on this drama.

I think having a character profile section would definitely be helpful in a drama with a large cast of interesting characters like this. On the hand, an overly detailed character profile might gave away some spoilers inadvertently.
Striking a balance is important: for example I include the detail that Tang Jie is the 'Consort Emeritus' because while her actual epithet is explained to viewers in Episode 1, it can be quite confusing to people not familiar with the historical context - that she is in fact widow of another elder brother who was also emperor.
However, I would not have revealed Tang Jie's other identities in her character profile openly since I would constitute that as being spoilers.

@Jasmine: Thanks for replying! I guess it depends on how actors made their own choices, Zhang Ruo Yun did make a commitment for filming 3 years or more as lead on 'Joy on Life'.
Also, it was interesting that you mentioned 'Longest Day in Chang An' since it was announced in 2017 that it would be released over 3 seasons as well ;)
PS: I find the Secret of the 3 Kingdoms drama adapted from Ma Bo Yong's novel to be really enjoyable so far, hope you also like it. :)

It is official, the 2018 release will be only the first season of the 'Battle Through the Heavens' drama series ;)

The poor logistics of the sites for enactment of the Tribes/Desolated areas can make recruitment of extras for large battle/crowd scenes difficult :p
For T&E: Storm of Prophecy, over 1000 extras (probably not all at same time) are hired for the battle scenes.
While filming certain scenes in the same region last year, Ever Night needed 800 extras (but none for battle).
Due to greater secrecy while they are filming, currently we don't have a comparative figure for Eagle Flag.

@Jasmine: I would like to point out that Joy of Life (aka Qing's Remaining Years) is a period drama to be filmed over at least 3 years for a total of 5 seasons. The novel is by the same author of https://kisskh.at/27178-ever-night whose 2nd season is already scheduled to begin filming end of this month or next. So multiple seasons C-dramas are coming, as least for high profile works ;)

Speaking of authors with multiple upcoming drama adaptations, the novel writer of 'The Longest Day in Chang An' is the same author as https://kisskh.at/23728-secrets-of-three-kingdoms

The first 4 episodes I watched meet my expectations and is a good start for the first drama on my anticipated to watch list for this year. Those who are Three Kingdoms buff or simply like period drama featuring smart protagonists versus smart villains should find this show quite interesting.

Sword of Shadows is a mobile (lite version) of Age of Wushu (AoW), both games created by Snail Games of China. AoW is one of the first Wuxia MMORPG to translate to English and a number of other European languages 5 years ago.

I submitted some translation suggestions to Snail during the time I played in AoW beta but I don't think the company used any of it V_V
The offline character feature you mentioned is extended in AoW so that when you logged out, you character still wanders the game world and in some circumstances affected by other online player characters.
Snail Games also a mobile game based on Martial Universe coming out later this year to coincide with the release of https://kisskh.at/20604-martial-universe

To many's surprise, theater actor/professor Li Ye took up the role of Lv Shou Yu

I was actually referring to large scale battle scenes :)
When you think about it, 56 x 45mins episodes = 2520 mins is equivalent to 63 x 40mins episodes in length of filmed footage, so 70 episodes is only 11% longer ;)

Just learnt that Legend of Condor Heroes became the book of the day for UK newspaper The Guardian on March 16, 2018 through an English translation :p
