Yeah, high ratings are mostly because of popularity of ML (disclaimer: I also think ML is a great actor). Most…
I would imagine that as far as Sa Mu Jang and Baek Hyun Mu, they are doing precisely what they are supposed to do, which is support. I do think that the ML has gotten the majority of the screen time and important dialogue, but I think the FL is holding her own next to the ML. So far, Kim Ji Eun's character reminds me of her character in Again My Life in that she makes the most of her screen time. Of course, we are watching the same drama, but could see two different things. I think you sell everyone and everything else short by crediting the ratings to simply Namkoong Min.
I really do not mind the naysayers who are nice (which are most) about being wrong (since the drama is really…
I am trying to think of some Korean dramas with good comedy, but usually the ones I watch are romantic comedies which are different from what I would consider comedies or sitcoms. I am not saying this just to say it, but I thought of about eight dramas to recommend, but saw you had seen and rated them all over 8.5 and quite a few 10s. I even looked at your planning to watch list, and I would say Splash Splash LOVE I remember being pretty funny. It also stars Kim Seul Gi which for me is always a plus.
The only joke about the ratings and reviews here is how serious you seem to take them. It is probably the height…
I have always thought of MDL as geared more towards Korean dramas than any other. I do not want to make excuses for anyone who goes negative in a negative way, but maybe the Korean drama viewing users are more experienced when it comes to knowing what they like and do not like. Just from the Korean drama pages I have participated in, there is not much patience if the drama is stumbling. I also think that perhaps some MDL users favor Korean actors over anything else. I will say that I cannot fairly critique beautiful actresses. I feel that coming across as beautiful on the screen is just as important for some roles as acting talent is since dramas are a visual media.I have been known to rush and defend a drama or cast, but I try to do it in a way that is not personal. Sometimes the lines blur. MDL is for fans of Asian drama, so you have to expect some fan behavior. Just about anyone can become a user, so you have to expect just about anything.
This drama is meant to begin with ‘set in ancient times’ 😂 things are turning historical here fr😭
Maybe in an effort to save money, they are waiting to literally film a final scene that celebrates their 30th wedding anniversary without the need for makeup or special effects.
8.7 for this show once again proves what joke the ratings on MDL are and how serious most reviewers can be taken…
The only joke about the ratings and reviews here is how serious you seem to take them. It is probably the height of error to think that once you subjectively decide to view a drama that then you can objectively review it. Not that your thoughts and opinions mean anything more or less than others, but when you insult raters and reviewers, I am left to wonder how much importance can I place on your own ratings and reviews. My take on this website is that it has a lot of useful information and thoughtful users who want to help others find dramas to enjoy. It also invites everyone, including those who are not so thoughtful, to share their thoughts too. MDL is a tool that in the right hands, can make for a more pleasurable drama viewing experience. Ratings are usually one of the last criteria I would use to decide to watch a drama, unless I know I am in sync with the person doing the rating, and I trust their judgement. I only use it in the rare instances where I have multiple dramas that I could watch and cannot decide which one to start. Maybe I like the genres, or the leads, or they are all the same length, and that is when I take a look at the ratings and will usually start with the one rated highest here. Granted, it is not always right, but I feel that is the best way to use the rating here. As far as reviews go (both the Review section and via comment section or forums), I have found that the reviews often tell you more about the reviewer than the drama itself. If a reviewer "gets me", then I am likely to place more importance on their reviews. MDL is no peer-reviewed journal, it has more to offer than a silly playground.
Is this similar to "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim"?
Elements of it, like the ML character for example, might have some resemblance. I think it is worth investing an hour or two of your time to see if it draws you in.

Honestly, we are all biased when pursing our passions. We have to base our decisions to watch or not watch on something. This drama has really gone in different directions in regards to the tone, and the writing and acting has been spot on to match. I feel like I am in capable hands for the rest of the drama, and look forward to the next episodes.
Whatever the budget is, I hope they did not spend any of it on the title. Light Chaser Rescue sounds like it was…
I was thinking that perhaps the title gets lost in translation. I know I should not judge a book by its cover (title), but there are so many dramas to choose from, it would help if the title draws me in. I do have Viki, but my queue is crushing me right now. Perhaps when my queue gets dealt with, it will be finished airing, and I can give the first episode a go.
I thought the two episodes were her hearing it from Na Ye Jin. I am assuming the flashbacks went into much more detail for the viewer, but I thought she was listening to Na Ye Jin while they were having dinner and drinks.
This drama (so far) is one of the rare ones that successfully shifts tones, and you do not feel lost or felt is was overdone or unnecessary. I am curious as to how Baek Ma Ri will react to his backstory.
I think this drama would have been better off giving her something that had a chance to be cured. I feel they really did a disservice to those with terminal illnesses. Now if you look past that, it was a standard 24 episode Chinese fluffy romance drama. It seemed like they tried to put a new spin with the illness but never really connected with me. I will say that the semi-redemption of the SFL (love interest) was ridiculous. They did everything possible to make her a horrible human being then waved a magic wand (I guess) and made it go away. The chemistry of the main couple was the main reason that I continued.
Whatever you've heard, please unhear it. Or you going to be more broken than you are now. Right now, believe only…
Hot off the presses! I misread a bunch of tweets and posts and think the reason for the delay is that Yang Mi and Xu Kai had such intense gazes and overflowing chemistry that they are currently redoing all the kiss and hug scenes into hand shakes and fist bumps. I wonder how long that would take...
Why do so many of you guys wanna watch this drama lol
I heard this could be the greatest drama in the history of dramas. Okay, maybe that is hyperbole, but during Shakespeare's time, women were not allowed on stage. So we get to see Yang Mi instead of a guy playing her role.
I really wish we let shows end before commenting on them.....can't wrap my head around the negativity it's reaciving…
I really do not mind the naysayers who are nice (which are most) about being wrong (since the drama is really good), but take exception with those who choose to express it through vitriol. The good thing is that the two are easy to distinguish, which makes it easy to ignore the latter.
