Good coherent plot with strategies that actually sound smart. You know sometimes in shows they describe the strategy as smart but damn I don’t have to be god of war Sun Tzu to know that it’s dumb as fk, but the war strategies here at least are logical and easy to follow. Great character development for most of the main cast except for the male lead, who saw no growth because frankly he was the perfect character in this show LOL. ALSO WHY IS ASHILE SUN SO HAND SOME I CANTTTTT. He literally looks so good with his long wavy brown hair and armour. Even his regular day outfits are 😍😍😍😍 I think the main leads make a great partnership but were only ok as a couple. For romance I preferred the second couple tbh. I’ve watched 3 historical dramas in a row, although they are all kinda different, I think this one had the best plot and production. I didn’t really like the “villain” plot twist at the end but I get that it’s needed to wrap up the show and to show how far the female lead has come.

It’s slow burn romance for both main and side couple. There’s no “real” kiss although there’s a kiss scene. They are kinda always together but they get together as a couple at around ep 30 I think?

I’m at ep 40+ and it’s good. I just came from who rules the world and this better has better plot IMO. Zhao lusi’s character is a nice person here although she’s VERY different from Bai Fengxi. She’s a bit naive in the beginning but she’s a very lovable character here

I love this show I never want it to end

It was ok. I liked the Wuxia stuff more than the court politics and scheming. I was bored at some parts but there were also interesting parts.

This had such a good start. Usually it takes a few episodes for me to like a cdrama but I was hooked on this since episode one. And also usually in other cdramas, the plot gets better and better all the way to the end, but this one was the opposite. The first 25 or so episodes were so good but the plot went downhill in last 15 episodes. And frankly nothing made much sense from ep 28-35 🥴. It started so good but it became cliche and extremely frustrating. Also this was definitely a girl power type of drama and it was nicely portrayed in the beginning, however towards the end it felt like the show really wanted to stress this point and it was a bit much for me.

Pros: nice tropical backdrop, lovely girlfriendships, compelling romance (which was really annoying for a few episodes), relatively good plot and message in the first 25 eps

Cons: wonky political plot (mostly just people explaining the politicking and scheming like “xxx did this” but you don’t really see it happening, weak villains (tbh is there even a villain or antagonist? 🥴). Weird decision making by main characters at around ep 30. Sometimes it felt like things were happening only because the writer wanted it to. The FL is framed as eloquent and convincing but tbh sometimes I was not very convinced by her monologue or actions, and I honestly don’t know how some of the characters buy her words

I didn’t watch game of thrones but the last 13 episodes sure were bad

Same omg. Those episodes were just so frustrating and honestly the ML’a decisions made no sense. 35-40 was kinda rushed too

Yes well it’s just released in the cinemas so I don’t think it’s available anywhere online 🤣 would totally rewatch it when it’s released online though

Honestly I think this is better than the drama!! The plot is tighter and there are less unnecessary scenes of course because of the shorter run time. Also I think the romance is less cliche (there were a LOT of accidentally falling on each other and long stares in the drama, none of that in the movie). The movie is quite heavy on the comedy. Overall pretty enjoyable and time passed very quickly when watching this. You can totally watching this on it’s own without watching the drama first

Yes it’s fine to watch this movie without watching the drama. There are some references here and there to the drama but it doesn’t really affect the plot

I just watched it and I think it’s fine as a stand alone movie. There are some references to the drama but you don’t have to watch it. The drama is pretty decent though and worth watching
