Is he really based on yeonsangun? I guess they changed his name to avoid accusations of historical revisionism.…
Yeah I’m curious too. they really only changed his name so far. personally I’m not really a fan of image cleansing tyrants. they should’ve just gone all out create a fictional tyrant than just changing a name
Why they changed the name of ML when they intended to keep the history parts?Either own it, or adjust the story…
Is he really based on yeonsangun? I guess they changed his name to avoid accusations of historical revisionism. He really was a tyrant… it’ll be hard to paint him in a sympathetic “he was just misunderstood” light
Had no expectations but this was a decent light watch. I like that there’s no “grand” evil thats evil for no reason other than to be evil. I enjoyed both the high school rom com and the supernatural shaman aspects
ok so every romance drama theres a discourse about how the male lead is always unrealistic, which i agree to a certain extend, but are they truly unrealistic or are our expectations of men just on the ground lmao
Is the storyline and characters (ending) of the novel different to the TV version?
Yes. Characters are “bigger” in the show than they are in the novel. It has some essence of the novel like the 7 lives and some lives had similar tropes to the novel, but a lot more stuff was added to create “plot” for the dram. Imo I didn’t like the show compared to the novel
Honestly they really fumbled with the insane makjang chaebol plot. Spent so much time on the nonsense it was literal long form rage bait. the antagonist had way too much screen time and he even has sad sob origin story. My question is who tf cares. It would’ve been so much better if it focused on the relationship between the main couple as well as haein’s relationship with her family. The shows saving grace was the god level acting from the main leads anyway.
the writer is so formulaic it’s crazyyyy. Literally all of her shows are the same - rich couple, rich villain who at first seemed reasonable and turns batshit crazy, threatens the life of the main couple, but gets killed in the most anticlimactic way possible. Lack luster plot gets carried by the hype, chemistry, god level acting of expensive A-list main leads. Literally what happened in my love from the stars, legend of the blue sea, crash landing on you, and now QOT.
I used to be a big fan of the writer’s dramas but it’s 2025 the formula she invented in 2013 is getting a little tiring now, but alas this show was a commercial success so we’ll be seeing the same slob from Lee ji Eun in a year or two.
Idc if you think me a hater cos trust me, I wanted so badly to love this. I love me a good tear jerker but this drama was mostly rage bait.
The show was so cute. It’s basically kyungsoo cooking while kwangsoo entertains. I loved their interactions with the staff. And all the food looks so good😭😭😭
This made me highly uncomfortable and not in a good way. It felt like they wanted to make a series on a serial…
Also can someone tell me why the nudity and sex scenes were necessary? Like what do they add to??? I just wanna watch my shows in the living room in peace
This made me highly uncomfortable and not in a good way. It felt like they wanted to make a series on a serial killer and tried to somehow make it seem moral, like he was killing for justice. However the MC is not driven by justice, he’s just a fking lazy unmotivated scum of society loser. He’s not fun or charismatic as a character. Another killer was introduced halfway to seemingly juxtapose the MC but frankly I saw barely any difference except that the side character was more interesting.
BUT the drama’s biggest crime is that it was boring and not entertaining even though it’s supposed to be a thriller. I watched 7 out of 8 eps and frankly I went to read a YA book and found it more interesting than this.
