Love both versions. I hardly slept because i cant stop reading. But im just halfway through. Haha

I read rhe part in the novel, he was from an offshoot branch of a merchant family. Father died because of an illness. Then his mother was also accused of having relations with someone. And ended her life. That's why he had a soft spot for FL.

I also like this version.
Yeh i have progressed with the novel, the focus was mostly on her side. There was hardly any scene showing how he rose up in the military. We were just afterwards

Her decisions are sound. Also during the first part, they were in her environment. now that they are in the military arc, FL was floundering a bit until ML guided her.

Yessss.. please.. they're practically married.
But. I also dont mind this tension. Hahaha

I am not sure but the 'ML is weak' part maybe from novel readers? He was much stronger and better fighter in the novel. So far i saw these comments at the start of the drama so there's an expectation. Maybe.
I dont mind the changes. Im loving both drama and novel so far.

I've read a comment at the start of the drama, that he grew up from a rich family but they were framed and were killed.
And in the novel, they kept dropping a lot of hints implying he didnt have a commoner's education or childhood.
But it seems for now (drama and the novel chapters ive read so far) he has no plans to get revenge. Either he doesnt know what happened then or he has let it go. In the novel, he plans to establish a stable life once he gets enough funds from being a salt smuggler. Until FL, of course.

In the novel, he does. Even at a young age he's well read and he can write and knows martial arts. He talked abt his dad letting him play with a jade paperweight or soemthing like that

So i gave in and started reading the eng translationof the novel..
Let's just say it's the same but it's not? 😅
A lot of the details are different, most of the annoying characters are not there (or not yet)
FL was obviously a lot younger and more naive. But still clever and smart.
ML is more confident and considered a master in martial arts and strategy. I can understand why i saw a lot of comments why the ML is weak lol. (He's fine 😁)
Oh and ZL is only confident except when it comes ro FTY. 😂
But he's sweet both in drama and novel. They're adorable.
Also, it's already being established early on in the novel that ML was rich or maybe in a noble family in the past.
Anyway, i am enjoying both so far.

The way they, the mistress and maid, embraced, their affection for each other was genuine. 😭
