As someone who absolutely loved Zhi Zhiβs novel Hua Kai Jin Xiu long before starting the drama adaptation, watching…
Yeh.. i started watching the drama first because i dont want to be disappointed if i loved the novel and it's not the same. After several episodes in and started the novel, i realized it's like an alternate universe. It was more slice of life, since POV was mainly with FTY. We only learned of ZL's life when he told FTY afterwards. There were minimal details too. Their lives there was a bit smoother. ZL can still laugh, there were trips when he's on leave and play with his children. There were marriages and reunions.
But i understand if they follow this in the drama, it would not be as gripping and it maybe boring to others. Drama still did a wonderful job in portraying how human the characters are.
I haven't finished it yet but i understand drama used another one of the major plot points in the novel. For now i just want to finish the drama. π
Whatever happens in the last 5 episodes, please let them have their family. In the novel, ZL prayed to have a daughter first and really loved and doted on her. So, i want his drama versiin have that bit of happiness too. So drama, make sure that leaked vid/pic of them in the swing is true. If that's a dream, you cant blame me for a - 1 in my rating. ππ
I wished drama told what happened to his mother. That's why he paused and immediately assured fty he believes her when she said she was framed for adultery. Also, is there a difference in what fu grandma did to fty to what the emperor did to Mo Yi? Rambling. Rewatching the earlier episodes.
Oh. It'll be the first meeting of ZL and Mo Yi soon. πππ And when emperor is just the cp and he can still magnanimous. π
Mo Yi was not executed for taking bribes, he was executed for the murder of Mdm Wu. What happened was that Mdm…
It's possible that conc wu doesn't have the book with her during her temple visit, esp since she has madm yu's personal maid (and assassin π) with her. I was also surprised conc wu used yjx as the messenger (or at least his personal manservant) and fty accepted it. A bit of a plothole but i can accept it. Now. Conc wu surrendering the notebook as a way out of her cage failed. I hope she doesnt mistrust fty.
I still think itβs a pretty good drama. The plot has gone downhill but it hasnβt gone full on makjang yetβ¦
From what i understand and i think ZL also said it, the evidence was of no use. Emperor did order a full investigation. But the Yus countered it by instigating the anzhou salt merchants to protest. To shut them up asap, emperor decided to sacrifice Gen Mo. Most probably that evidence wouldnt be accepted or believed by the anzhou merchants. By pacifying the anzhou merchants, the salt reforms would be smoother and he would get his funds sooner. The situation with emperors grandma was not an excuse but just an example. To rule, he can deceive a person who's very dear to him; so even if he's fond of Gen Mo, for the time they spent together, he can sacrifice him. It may be a msg to ZL too. Part of the reason, Gen Mo accepted his death was if they investigate further, they would know about Gen Wang's salt smuggling. Resolving the case with Gen Mo's death would avoid that. Rebeling wouldnt be easy. Esp since they're still not getting (i think) all of their grain and salt supplies and of course possible execution as consequence. Refusing the emperor or resigning wouldn't do him any good. He wouldnt most probably live beyond a day. And most probably include his entire family, w/c is what he has been trying to prevent.
Guys I'm on ep 3 and I've got a question: didn't yake ask tingyun to be the matchmaker between her and her 7th…
In a way, by sending the narcissus flower. But FTY believes yake woukd suffer if she gets married into the Fu family. So didnt send the flower. But fty didnt get to explain and yake thought that fty was looking down at her and didnt deserve to be part of the Fu family.
Ep 31 made it very clear where the relationship between the emperor and ZL stands. He is the emperor. He's not…
Being an emperor/king seems to be a lonely position. I feel he's realistic. The LLTG emperor (my favorite cdrama emperor) is almost like a fantasy. And even he was not perfect.
Ending for them was an interesting twist for me.
I have fun with the drama and with you all.
See you in the next drama! π
But it's time. Later.

Hahaha
Never
A death for a death.

And yes, please HE to our favorite characters. No more deaths on our side please. π
