Dan is a main villain in the later part of the novel, I believe the show will follow some of that part.

Don't trust MDL ratings blindly, it doesn't reflect the quality of any show. So many bad shows have good ratings and vice versa. I have been fooled several times. Watch it for yourself and then be your own judge :)

I didnt watch the ep so idk, but i am glad they didnt bring the whole 'baby sitting' plot because i nevvver liked…
Finally, someone else who also hates the babysitting plot from the novel. It really undermined Little Jane's career, reducing him to just a babysitter.
