One of things I love about Jin Mai is her speech delivery. She is not dubbed. I loved her in this drama and I loved ZLH here even more than in SOKP. Both Mai Mai and ZLH were excellent in their portrayal of characters with depth and history together. I loved their cp and all I wanted was a happy ending. Who said that quote about the chocolate cake? I love it!

And even if one chooses to watch on a superficial level, the main couple are a pleasure to watch. Jin Mai and ZLH gave outstanding performances.

Thank you. I am baffled by the outpour of anger against the sml's screen time to the point people down rated this drama. There is depth in the characters and I loved the main couple. I felt sad for SRQ as he held his hand over his wound. He looked so alone and LR didn't even go near him. But it was evident that she forgave him when she saw him about to die in the fire. But I a grateful for the happy ending and looking forward to the bonus episode.

I watched The Double before this and loved both. PeiRong was such unique couple. I love second chance romance. I agree that this ranks up there with The Double. I haven't watched the other two you mentioned yet.

As for the comments about SRQ, I feel the same and I am glad you said this, "A few commented that SRQ was more of the ML than PWX and PWX was only a supporting character but I did not get that impression. In fact, in the beginning, SRQ was not even on my radar except for a plot device to drive the leads closer, and later when he turned out as the main villain (with some poor justifications on his part), I expected him to be featured more like many other shows, the villains tended to have more screen time to drive up the angst factor." I am glad it is not just me. I wondered if I somehow blocked out SRQ completely because I hardly noticed him in the first half of the drama.

And I also agree about the main leads. I enjoyed them so much so I didn't about emotional about SRQ's screentime to the extent I would stop watching this drama. Anyone who says they are not going to watch for this reason might not have felt engaged with the cp. I felt PWX's presence. He was not just an accessory. I hope people reading reviews saying he was, do not get turned off from watching this drama.

PWX was one of the smartest characters in this drama. He knew how to keep quiet and played down his intelligence. It was hilarious when he told the emperor people were talking about him before LR was going after him when all he wanted was a divorce.

I don't like what LR in the book did in the previous life especially when I read that PWX did not accept any of the women sent to him because he felt something was missing. But like you, I was able to block it because of Jin Mai. She made me love LR because she made the romance believable. I think my mind tried to block out the presence of SRQ so perhaps that is why I didn't even see him as anything significant in the first half as to me the drama focused on PeiRong. But by the time they were together, the drama shifted into SRQ's role in the plot and the first time he made me cringe was in the scene where he was beating the drums while staring at LR. But even then he didn't bother me so much because I knew LR loved PWX.

This is one of the best couples I have seen. They are not the usual. They are unique. I feel Jin Mai and ZLH were outstanding with their depiction of a couple who were on the one hand familiar with each other and acted like old married couples sleeping next to each other and knowing what each other needs and wants,but on the other hand getting to know each other as they came to realize the misunderstanding that caused their separation.

Did you notice the way LR was clinging to PWX's hand and he told her there are some roads which are meant to be traveled alone? He understands her so well and there are times he knows what she needs more than she does. In a sense, he did the same in the final episode and left LR alone with SRQ. I felt a little bad for SRQ because LR didn't even try to help him staunch the flow of blood. Miraculously, he was able to sit and play his music after looking like he was about to die! I don't know how they survive all these stab wounds😂 But I think we should all remember this is drama.

I felt so badly for Li Chuan. The LC we saw loved his sister and put his life at risk to save her. I wish we would have seen more of them together at the end to show they went above this. I understand LR hurt that in her previous life he was part of it. She was devastated because she loved him so much as her younger brother.

I agree this drama deserves much more than 8.3. Sadly, too many were overly emotional over every scene with SRQ they didn't even bother to see the other aspects of the drama. Details were showing LR's love for PWX and the struggle within her to balance her lack of trust with her desire to have PWX by her side and I cannot express how I love him for understanding her and being patient. But he is only human and the times he got mad were understandable. And yet how quickly he calmed down to assure her he will wait. His unconditional love for LR was a huge part of the chemistry. And yet people label him as a simp. He had a strength which LR needed. He supported her but he didn't always agree with her. At these times he reasoned with her. At times quite loudly but there were times he knew she needed quiet support. In the end, she realized that he is the only person in both lifetimes she could truly trust and finally she overcame the restraint that held her back for fully giving her heart to him

It didn't bother me as much because in my mind, I could only see LR loving PWX. I am so glad the drama did not include chap 170 of the book because I blocked that from my mind as I watched. It is a good thing Jin Mai made LR's love for PWX believable. Well, she did for me.

And in TD there was a kiss with SYR but nothing great with the leads. TPR has so much more in terms of romance than TD. This is not to say I didn't love TD because I did.

His performance at the end when he told LR his feelings was good. I would have preferred less time on SRQ in the final episode but you know how directors like to promote their creativity over what the viewers want. At least we get a bonus episode and it has a clear happy ending unlike TD. Well TD also had a bonus episode but I felt that was a quick add on.
If the director was trying to give SRQ romance scenes with LR, it didn't work with me. I think it was because I felt strongly that LR loved PWX always, and any romantic feelings between the two were one sided. I am not saying she didn't care about him, but she did not love him.
Yes. They did it with SYR in TD too. The netizens were so mad that there was a kiss with SYR and the leads got a candle and curtain. Duke Su was the reason I loved TD so much. But if I were to compare romance, I love the romance in TPR much more. For me TPR is a 10. Any drama which makes me rewatch scenes over and over while waiting for the next is a 10.

You don't know how happy it makes me to see a positive comment among the masses of mood killers. The chemistry was unique and one which I thoroughly enjoyed. It stood out more than anything else. I loved the humor not only from the leads but from PWX's assistant. I see he is also in the bonus episode 😂
