It's now March 2023 and I'm still waiting for this drama to come. The news about the BU/HYYH kdrama adaptation was announced in 2019. They started shooting the drama in 2020 but due to the characters' names, they had to change it and reshoot. But the filming and production officially ended in 2021. I wonder what they're up to that it's taking too long for this drama to be released.
Episode 5 of BREAK THE SILENCE Docu-Series (2020)SUGA: “I’m really jealous of people who can go out to eat,…
Yoongi/SUGA/Agust D's song "People" on his second mixtape D-2 (2020) is based on this.
Lyrics: “Yeah yeah, a gentle breeze One that brushes past One that soaks into my heart What kind of person am I Am I a good person? Or a bad person? The assessments are all different I’m just a person, too
Everyone would live on Everyone would love Everyone would fade away and be forgotten
People change — like I have Living a life in the world, there’s nothing that lasts forever Everything is just a happening that passes by
Mm… why so serious? Why so serious? why so serious? Mm… I’m so serious? I’m so serious? I’m so.. I’m so..
What about it If you brush past, what about it What about it If you get hurt, what about it
Sometimes you might be in pain again Sometimes you might get upset and shed tears What about it If you live like that, what about it
Flow along the way the water flows Maybe there’s something at the end A special life, an ordinary life, each of them on their own It’s all good It’s all good
It doesn’t always go as planned Everyone puts up with the inconvenience The repetition of dramatic situations sometimes makes life tiring People are like that
When it’s not there, you wish it is, when it’s there, you wish it’s not Who said that humans are the animals of wisdom To my eyes, it’s obvious that they are the animals of regret
People change — like you have Living a life in the world, there’s nothing that lasts forever Everything is just a happening that passes by
Your being ordinary is rather my being special Your being special is rather my being ordinary My being ordinary is rather your being special My being special is rather your being ordinary

Sometimes you might be in pain again Sometimes you might get upset and shed tears What about it If you live like that, what about it”
SUGA: “I’m really jealous of people who can go out to eat, travel, go to the movies with friends and things like that. Those things are really special to me because I find them hard to do. Some of the members do those activities but I don’t because I don’t have a lot of friends. It’s not easy, so those things feel really special to me. I envy others because of this. You gain as much as you lose and vice versa. It’s a loss of the ordinary. That’s been the biggest change. What’s ordinary to others is special to me, whereas, what’s special to others is very ordinary to me. Before you know it, your set of values for things changes. The way you see the world with your values. That’s when the most ordinary things become significant.”
I just found out that BRING THE SOUL (2019) is the #1 top rated Korean movie in kisskh. It's a music documentary about BTS and it's indeed so special that shows their hardwork as performers, their sincerity as influential artists and their emotions as ordinary humans. So I'm sharing the leader's Kim Namjoon's ending monologue which is profoundly beautiful:
“Well, I’m not really sure. Because... How should I put it? Love. When you listen to music, most lyrics talk about love. You know, they say, “Love is all we need.” “I always have love in my heart.” They always talk about love whether it’s in Korea or abroad. It’s a great message, a necessary message. But people tend to become callous of it.
I often wonder, “What exactly is this love that they speak of?” It’s like if you constantly mull over a word you’re familiar with, and suddenly the word seems unfamiliar. Taking my name as an example, if I repeat Kim Namjoon over and over again, it suddenly sounds very awkward, you know? “Why is my name Kim Namjoon?” “Why am I Kim Namjoon? What does it mean?” These thoughts just pop into my mind. But I think we need these thoughts.
To be honest, I don’t know if I’m doing a good job at delivering the message of LOVE YOURSELF. It would be great if everyone thinks about the ways they can truly love themselves. Doing what we’re doing now, the seven of us are experiencing things other people can’t. But I’m also unable to experience what millions of young people out there are experiencing. But there is only so much I can do regarding that. I have to do my best within those constraints so that I can turn around and think to myself, “I’ve done the best I could for myself today.” And by doing so, in the grand scheme of things, I hope I’m contributing to what I feel is LOVE YOURSELF.”
This drama was actually refreshing and exciting, with some thriller elements to it. In my opinion, I enjoyed the first 2 episodes the most when there wasn't much romance. I didn't really feel the romance and chemistry between the female lead and male lead. I didn't care about who she ends up with. I was more interested to their university life, cheering squad, friendship. Their shining youth was shown beautifully (despite the dark subplot). The happy ending with everyone was so heartwarming and it made me emotional.
PS. It's my first time knowing this kind of cheering squad exists. It's usually cheerleaders and gymnastics, but this was different. I find it cringe at first because of their costumes and choreo, but it's actually more fun and gives harmony to the people. Their positive energy amazes me.
I was intrigue to watch this drama since I saw its trailer on twitter and I'm into survival genre (I'm actually surprised that it's unpromoted and I haven't even seen viral tweets about it). The characters are in mad chaos inside the collapsed building and I was thinking maybe the earthquake didn't cause it but some accident in construction site because of their illegal business. I also thought what if it's similar to 10 Cloverfield Lane where there's an alien invasion outside while they're unaware of it lol. But after they went out, it shows the forest was burning and it became apocalyptic. Is it really because of the earthquake or there's something else? What if it's a nuclear attack or alien invasion? I'm curious. There's obviously a season 2 and I'm looking forward to it.
About that guy who managed to make it out alive with them after all the things that happened to him... I think he survived because of his strong will to live. It's not just for himself but for his father. He may be crazy, but he's actually smart and strong. He has survival instincts and skills. He was the first one to help the police at the beginning and he was also the one who figured out where the money is at the end. I find him annoying at first but I actually like that he survived at the end.
I honestly didn't like the male lead and he was stupid and annoying for most in the drama. He's stuck in the loop…
The concept and plot is interesting but I just couldn't like the characters since the start. They're all so annoying. The only characters I like and rooting for were Semin, Jiwoo, Kyumin. Their characters and background have actual depth. Their arcs were better and have impact that brings the emotions.
The male lead was such a jerk to Yejin for 96 years. But in the new/present loop, he instantly got jealous and obsessed when she found a new guy and move on. That's actually what I hated the most in this drama. Semin was a lot better compared to him. He was a kind, sincere, considerate, helpful, hardworking guy. Semin's and Yejin's feelings gradually grew as they got closer and they genuinely like each other. While the male lead is the kind of typical toxic guy who only feels bitter after losing the attention and affection from the girl who used to like him that he's always been ignoring, and thinks he's entitled to get her back. He eventually backed off and things were doing well for the cute couple who have a healthy relationship, but oh well... The sudden changes was forced. They dragged a lot of things to make the drama longer.
I honestly didn't like the male lead and he was stupid and annoying for most in the drama. He's stuck in the loop for 3 years in highschool and he did it for 32 times. If I was in his place, I would have just enjoyed it. I understand that it's confusing, frustrating, scary to be alone stuck in a loop and no one believes in him. But he had a lot of chances to make changes. Compared to other movies where time loop concept is a horror/thriller genre that is literally a life and death situation, he was in a better position being a highschool student. That's like eternal youth and he could have spend it in different ways. He's not suffering before the loop and there's no villains, he's just living a normal life so changing it after the loop started happening is not hard. It feels hopeless, but there's also advantages to it. He doesn't have to grow into an adult and enter the harsh society. Instead, he could do many things and be a carefree teenager for so long. Aside from all the things that already happened over again in his school, he could have change himself and make friends, transfer to another school and meet new people, go travel and do other hobbies, even being rebellious and do wild things. It's not like he was stuck in a 1 day loop where what he can do is limited, but he had 3 whole years and that's already a lot of time. There's a lot of options to make and decide in the total of 96 years he lived being stuck in a loop. But he didn't do anything or even made efforts to the point that he got used to it. He did try to make some changes, but why is he still in those exact moments when he could have just been in different areas or places doing something else. That's why his boredom, emptiness, frustration are getting worse. He keeps repeating every single moments without actually changing anything. He wasted all those years instead of reliving it with a brand new life.
It's a relief that the new girl transferee appeared to help him and gave a sense out of him to finally do something.
The only time Kim So Hyun worked with a solid actor on her par was with Yoo Seung Ho in 2017. The rest of her…
Oh I'm talking about her co-actors in her lead dramas. Sohyun and Jingoo were only the teen counterparts in those dramas (ofc they were great together and I would also like to see her in another angsty/heavy dramas).
love her since school 2015. but this love may be faded due to her being socially incative for almost 2 years.…
She doesn't owe the fans an explanation. And it's already obvious why she was inactive for the rest of 2021, she took a long break after the hardship and exhaustion she went through in River Where The Moon Rises, and it's also probably a chance for her to focus more on her private life and studies. I think her hiatus got extended due to the problems of her new agency who have a bad management (which may be proven true since they decided to make a new agency with different management months ago and moved their artists from Culture Depot to IEUM Hashtag).
Sohyun was more active with several dramas, CFs, photoshoots, etc. every year and had good promos while she was in SidusHQ. But she left to make her independent label E&T in 2018, it was good at first but it didn't do well since it's still new and probably had lack of connections and budget to managed her that led to some conflict. She left again in 2020 and signed to a new agency but her current agency kinda feels similar and still lagging with their management. She had many activities when she was a rising star (her rose to stardom after School 2015) but I guess she's just chill now and matured to make her own decisions. I understand why some fans get bored since she's not that active compared before, but she has two upcoming dramas next year and her agency should promote her well so she could get more offers like endorsements and other activities. I hope she will have great dramas that could put her in the spotlight again.
Agree with this. The only good drama of hers in the past 5 years is Tale of Nokdu. River where the moon rises…
She isn't typecast since her highschool characters have different personalities. It's also suitable for her since she was still a teenager in real life while acting in those school dramas. But it was spread as meme, people are making jokes about it (which is okay) but others are using it to downplay her as an actress (especially after Love Alarm where she received a lot of hate).
I think it's good that she's taking historical dramas in between since it's more challenging and shows her heavy acting. She's still young and I can't wait to see her lead in other genres in the future. She has two upcoming dramas where she'll play adult roles in different fields so we'll see a new side of her and I hope these dramas will turn out well.
i dont really get it why people complaining about KSH being paired up with idol actors, i understand but it didnt…
The only time Kim So Hyun worked with a solid actor on her par was with Yoo Seung Ho in 2017. The rest of her male leads are idols and rookies. Fans are already tired of it and want to see her work with senior actors or solid actors around her age. A senior actor could also help her as an actress (unlike the other way around where she's always the one guiding her junior co-actors and carrying the drama. They also usually get harsh criticisms that might dragged her/the drama).
PS. What I meant by "solid" actors are those who are "established" actors who already have long experience and recognition.
Some people judged this movie based on the synopsis without even watching. I also hate age-gap romance since it's creepy and wrong, especially the teacher-student relationship. But this movie is different compared to others and it's unexpectedly good. It's more on family, comedic and lighthearted.
The female lead and male lead are childhood friends and they have their parents' consent. Their parents are also mindful and puts caution on them. They didn't kiss on their wedding, they were chill about not going together on their trip and nothing bad happened while they were living together. They were more like friends or siblings having fun, teasing and caring for each other because they've been close since they were kids. There was no romantic connection in the beginning. The female lead even had a boyfriend and the male lead casually knew about it. They only got contractual marriage to grant the promise between their grandparents and just grew their feelings later on.
PS. The male lead is not that old. His age wasn't mentioned but he's on his last year in college, so he's probably 21-22. The female lead is on her first year in highschool and she's 15-16. Yes she's so young and they could've just made her 18 though.
One of my favorite romance movies. Heartwarming, pure, nostalgic, bittersweet, hopeful. I feel so weak yet safe while watching this. This couple struck through my heart and the overall atmosphere of the movie made it heavy. A bad/broken guy falling in love for the first time which became the light in his life and changing for better because of the girl. Though they keep on getting separated and he gets into troubles, their feelings didn't change and they always found each other through different ways. It was so emotional seeing their growth, maturing to adults, entering the society, getting stronger through the years, healing with each other and finally accepting their selves. I cried so much in the ending, especially with "Fix You" playing, the perfect theme song for their lifelong love story.
How did she kill 20+ men in the beginning of the movie yet failed to kill 2 men in one room lol. She ended up…
Because her sudden killing spree in the beginning was out of revenge for the death of her husband that's why she's more wild and emotional. While it was a secret mission for the 2 men and it got screwed up since they were easily found. She was also trying to help her friend but her friend wasn't strong enough since it's her first time.
I really love badass women and the female lead in this movie is so powerful, I'm amazed by her. And I have a huge crush on Sung Joon 😭 His character was so sweet and gentle to her. Though it's initially a mission to look after her, his feelings for her is genuine and he was already adoring her before they met together. He even took care and protected her child. The female lead went through a lot and she deserves a happy life with her new family. Why 💔
This movie is an action thriller that made me hooked, but I got more attached to their romance. I'm such a sucker for dark/intense love relationship.
This movie is so crazy, bloody and unpredictable. I don't like serious gore movies but I enjoyed this one.
At first it was nerve wrecking since the criminals are rebelling and brutally killing the people inside a ship in the middle of the ocean. But then it got more scary when the main villain (superhuman/beast) appeared and killed everyone in extreme ways. The main criminal died early, which I didn't expect since I thought he's gonna be their enemy until the end. But around the end, the real villain appeared and killed the remaining people who managed to get away from the beast. It was so surprising how the female police suddenly died since it looks like she's the main character who's standing strong. And the calm/quiet criminal who looks like a supporting character is actually also a superhuman and he's the only one who survive.
Based on the ending, there might be a sequel. This movie is more like an intro? (I don't know how to describe it, but it's similar to "The Witch" that have deeper happenings to the experiments and widespread characters/victims throughout generations).
I'm so confused... So is there really aliens and apocalypse going on, or is it just the script of the director after all?
Maybe it just coincide or it came true in reality since he told the aliens about his story?
I thought it all happened at the same day and a different kind of aliens came to communicate with the special lonely humans who are celebrating their birthdays when the invasion/apocalypse/end of the world started and their gift is not just being a companion, but to help them survive?
"We didn't found her. She found us." This line was chilling.
This movie is so good. It's not the typical lab experiment movie that follows the same formula. The plot twist caught me off guard and amazed me.
The female lead managed to run away when she was a kid and led a normal life in the countryside while having an amnesia. At first, I was thinking how dumb she was since it's a common knowledge to not show your special power to other people, but she did it on the TV. That made the organization easily found her. She was going to get experimented and used again, so I was annoyed that she's not doing anything despite her strength. But it was her plan all along since she was a kid. The female lead outsmarted everyone and it was so satisfying! The fight scenes along with their superhuman strength and abilities was so cool. She's so crazy and badass. I love her.
Lyrics:
“Yeah yeah, a gentle breeze
One that brushes past
One that soaks into my heart
What kind of person am I
Am I a good person?
Or a bad person?
The assessments are all different
I’m just a person, too
Everyone would live on
Everyone would love
Everyone would fade away
and be forgotten
People change — like I have
Living a life in the world, there’s nothing that lasts forever
Everything is just a happening that passes by
Mm… why so serious?
Why so serious? why so serious?
Mm… I’m so serious?
I’m so serious? I’m so.. I’m so..
What about it
If you brush past, what about it
What about it
If you get hurt, what about it
Sometimes you might be in pain again
Sometimes you might get upset and shed tears
What about it
If you live like that, what about it
Flow along the way the water flows
Maybe there’s something at the end
A special life, an ordinary life, each of them on their own
It’s all good
It’s all good
It doesn’t always go as planned
Everyone puts up with the inconvenience
The repetition of dramatic situations sometimes makes life tiring
People are like that
When it’s not there, you wish it is, when it’s there, you wish it’s not
Who said that humans are the animals of wisdom
To my eyes, it’s obvious that they are the animals of regret
People change — like you have
Living a life in the world, there’s nothing that lasts forever
Everything is just a happening that passes by
Your being ordinary is rather my being special
Your being special is rather my being ordinary
My being ordinary is rather your being special
My being special is rather your being ordinary
What about it
If you brush past, what about it
What about it
If you get hurt, what about it
Sometimes you might be in pain again
Sometimes you might get upset and shed tears
What about it
If you live like that, what about it”
