Wow, this movie blew me away. I've always love the disaster/apocalyptic genre, but this one was unexpected. It kinda has a mix of Inception/The Matrix/Interstellar vibes. It's so fascinating, intense, emotional. The message about humanity and emotions especially coming from motherhood is so meaningful. It made me cry.

Sorry, but if the husband was gone in the beginning, none of this would've happened.

This drama is amazing, but I already feel that it won't have a happy ending. Aside from the thriller genre, the warning message at the beginning shows how the creators takes this matter seriously and they will likely convey how the drug dealers will face consequences no matter what their circumstances are.

I'm surprised that Bong Joon Ho's American movies are in MDL. I hope "Minari" (2020) also gets added. They didn't add it in here because it's an American production, even though it's literally more of a Korean movie with Korean cast and Korean language.

The villain deserves a horrible death, but she just had it easy. She didn't even get punished. It's so unfair and maddening!

I unexpectedly like this movie... At first, I didn't like the third wheeling, but the turn of events got interesting. It's like seeing the pov of the typical second leads - the cute bright guy and pretty bold girl who gave up on their feelings so the lead couple gets together, and how they became the main characters of their own story instead.

This drama is so cruel... I've watched a lot of plots about various crimes, but it's the first time I got to know about this and it's just an unbelievable level of crazy. It makes me extremely mad, disgusted and scared. I cried so much at the end of episode 6.

Bad people deserves to be punished, but evil people deserves to perish immediately for the safety of others. Especially those who have power and can still get away with anything. It just feels hopeless.

There's this movie about a well known criminal, but since he's rich and powerful, nothing happens to him and he just continues to commit more crimes. At the end, the police who chases after him realizes that he has to k*ll the root of evil. This is my exact thoughts for this drama... I'm glad the other villains d*ed and the main villain needs to d*e too.

The female lead is already so annoying. I hate how she accused the transfer student of being a bully, when the bullies has been obviously harassing the victim even inside the classroom. I'm so glad how the male lead called her out for turning a blind eye.

Why do kdramas treat suicide and suicidal thoughts like a crime?
Actually, it's not just Koreans. That's the belief of most religious people around the world. In my country, if there's a suicide news, there would be many people blaming the victim and it's usually from older people. They'll say "they suffered because they don't believe in God" and "they will go to hell". There's now more open minded and educated people in this generation, but in 1900s and way back in history, mentally ill people were treated like crazy or possessed by demons. It's just terrible.

In Korea, their religion is mostly Buddhism and it has a big significance about reincarnation. So if someone kills themselves, they won't be able to reincarnate and they will go to hell. I'm not sure if I remember it correctly, but this topic was showed in another kdrama (maybe Tomorrow). It's a scene where a mom died and she's happy to finally see her son again, but she can't reunite with him since he died by suicide and went to hell.

This drama is incredibly painful. I hate that until now, I still remember the episode with the baby. It's really sad how babies don't have any memories or idea about anything. Babies are too innocent and fragile in this world. I believe that babies who passed away are able to grow up as angels in heaven. They live peacefully without any problems. RIP angels.

I love this drama. It made me cry so much and reflect deeply about life. It's such an experience. I wish I could go on an adventure before I die. The ending struck on me. It exactly shows the ending of the protagonist. The last scene of my life. I've always imagined about my own ending, being in the fields while looking at the sky/stars. Dying is painful, but at least, I want to look at something beautiful before I disappear in the world. I don't have a lover, but if I have one someday, it would be so precious if he's always on my side until the last scene of my life.

PS. I still remember another drama from years ago where the restaurant owner asked her employee how he would like to die and he answered that he wants to be surrounded by his grandchildren in his bed. That also makes me wish for it, to be surrounded by my family with so much love. I want a beautiful and peaceful way of passing.

Season 1 was great. This season's script is mediocre. If it were not for the success of the first season and insane…
This season is also great, the only lacking is the cliffhanger ending (which is understandable since it's a bridge to build up for season 3 and Netflix just cut it). Some people even think this season is better because the new characters are more interesting, there's variety to the new games, the players are fighting back and how more background is gradually being revealed (they even want Squid Game to have its own cinematic universe where other countries are also doing it).

It would obviously still be successful because it's the same franchise lol. There's already a lot of people recreating the new games and obesssing with the new characters. Squid Game is even dominating the gaming community (there's a parody game in Roblox) and everyone is using the line "I've played these games before". The soundtrack is also trending especially the "Mingle" game song. The impact from season 1 is bigger and season 2 is also big because of how the plot, characters, games have expanded. The general public are enjoying it even more.
On Squid Game Season 2 Jan 16, 2025
I haven't been active in MDL, and I realized reading the comments and reviews doesn't really matter and the negativity is only a tiny amount. Because if you looked at the general public and actual critics, countless people are loving Squid Game. It's not just popular, but it's critically acclaimed and a global cultural phenomenon. The hype is not just in the internet, but in real life. People are even cosplaying the characters and remaking the games (the simple childhood games that everyone can join and relate which makes Squid Game even more memorable). The impact it created is on a massive scale. Squid Game is not even on my favorites, but I easily recognized that it's an excellent drama that have the fun aspects to entertain while conveying moral lessons about reality. That's why it captured and connected people around the world. It's truly iconic.

Back in 2021, some kdrama and jdrama fans kept comparing Squid Game to other dramas. It was so annoying, but there was no point to it. They were just bitter and insecure because Squid Game got the bigger popularity and worldwide success. They were also trying to gatekeep kdramas while excluding Squid Game and downplaying its achievements. But no matter what the haters say, Squid Game is in fact the most successful and well loved Asian drama of all time around the world. Even those people who don't watch kdramas or non-english shows will know Squid Game. The popularity and success it achieved is just incredible and incomparable. I'm an Asian and seeing an Asian drama succeeding in the global industry and even surpassing other Western shows makes me so proud.

This drama was supposedly gonna air in November 2024 and JTBC even gave it a special promo during Olympics. It's sad that they had to delay it on 2025 and what's sadder is the platform for the distribution will be Prime Video. I really wish it was Netflix and it deserves a bigger platform so it could get better exposure. Also, Kim Sohyun's only recent drama in Netflix is Love Alarm and I really want her to get more popularity again. But anyway, I'm wishing the best for Good Boy and I'm trying to wait patiently for it.

Kim So Hyun is my favourite actress. I do not miss her dramas, but I really wanted her to step out of romcoms.…
I'm a fan of Kim Sohyun and I also really want her stop doing romcoms (she already had 5 romcoms straight). Good Boy is gonna be her first non-romance drama and I'm excited to see her police character while also working with senior actors like Park Bogum.

Finally, a new modern royalty kdrama! I've always wanted to see more of this genre since the settings is unique. The only dramas like this that I know are Princess Hours, The King 2 Hearts and The King: Eternal Monarch. The plot and characters of Wife of a 21st Century Prince sounds cool, I'm looking forward to it.
On Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo Dec 2, 2024
I remember 10 years ago, Itazura na Kiss was one of the first jdramas I've watched and I was so obsessed with it. I love the couple so much that I even shipped the actors in real life. But only years later now that I'm an adult did I realized how bad this drama is. A dumb girl who keeps on chasing after an arrogant guy who keeps on hurting her. It's not cute, it's actually crazy. Thinking about it now, especially as a woman, I regret liking this type of romance. It really annoys me how the female lead blindly revolved her life to a jerk who doesn't care about her. She did all the efforts and sacrifices while he insulted and humiliated her many times. It's not romantic at all, it's pathetic. The female lead is embarrassing while the male lead is insufferable.

PS. I watched this drama when I was 11 years old. Before, I also didn't realized that the female lead was only 16 while the male lead was 26. It makes the drama even more weird.
On A Girl & Her Guard Dog Dec 2, 2024
I just found out that A Girl and Her Guard Dog is getting a live action adaptation and honestly, it annoyed me. It's gonna be 2025 but they still keep making/adapting these minor-adult "romantic" shoujos. I tried to watch the anime before but I got so disturbed and dropped it. This plot is even more creepy than those teacher-student relationships because the male lead met the female lead when she was just 5 YEARS OLD. He raised her since childhood and acts as her parental figure, but suddenly they become lovers when she's only 15 while he's 26. He even goes to her highschool while faking his age and being more possesive of her. No matter how they try to make it cute, this is literal grooming and pedophilia. It's so weird how they romanticized it.
On Love Next Door Oct 10, 2024
Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for this drama. I thought it was just gonna be a typical childhood first love romcom, but I was wrong. This drama is actually mature and deep that also tackles about family, adulthood, mental health, grief and more. I didn't expect the plot twist and there's many scenes that made me cry a lot. This drama is so meaningful and it touched my heart. But also, there's many fun moments between the couple. I love how natural they are. Sometimes, it feels like they aren't acting and I'm just watching them in real life. That's how good they are, it felt so real, you can really feel how genuine and comfortable they are to each other. Out of all the couples and romcoms this year, I can say that "Love Next Door" is the best!

PS. The part that made me emotional the most is when the female lead was having depression. She was lonely and trying to reach out, but the male lead didn't knew and ignored her. I could understand both of their pains and regrets. Also, I've never seen this kind of scenario before, so it makes it even more remarkable to me 😭
