As a fan of Sohyun, I'm sad to see the negative comments and criticisms. Honestly, I don't want her again in a romcom especially after the massive hate that Love Alarm got. She deserves better dramas. Other fans are trying to defend this, but if she keeps playing highschool roles and starring in romcom genre, it's gonna affect her image (being stereotyped) and it won't give her recognition (let her grow) as an actress.

But anyway, Serendipity's Embrace is obviously a basic cliché romcom about first love since the synopsis was revealed 2 years ago, so there's no expectations to begin with (especially to those people getting disappointed and complaining that it's not a quality drama). It's just for fun and I'm going to simply enjoy it. Pure romcoms has been rare in kdramas lately and if you want something cute and nostalgic, then you'll like this drama. It's only 1 episode, but it's nice so far.

If you don't know, her first lead role before School 2015 was actually in a thriller drama "Reset" in 2014 and she had a psychological webdrama "Nightmare Teacher" in 2016.

But yeah, Sohyun has been starring in more romcoms in the recent years and I hope she picks a thriller/psychological drama again soon.

Sohyun already did. Watch her historical dramas where she doesn't have bangs. While for modern dramas it's Triangle, We All Cry Differently and Love Alarm S1. She had MANY bangless hairstyles in photoshoots, events. etc. since 2014. Just check her Instagram.

My Lovely Liar was indeed popular, but it's not really considered as a "successful" drama. It got low ratings domestically and Viki/Viu are just smaller platforms with less users. Also, Love Alarm was a very popular trend and had the Netflix influence. But in both dramas, it didn't give her recognition as an actress and she didn't won awards for it.

Sohyun's most successful dramas are Who Are You: School 2015 (this was her breakthrough that shot her to stardom) + The Emperor: Owner of the Mask (this isn't that popular among kdrama fans but it achieved 17% ratings) + River Where The Moon Rises (it achieved 10% ratings before the controversy). These are the actual successful dramas that gave her recognition as an actress and she won awards for it. Out of all, School 2015 was the perfect drama and well loved by the general public. It's not only popularity, but Sohyun also had "impact" that time. She can do fun romcoms if she wants to, but as a fan, I want to see her thrive. I will always hope she gets a great drama/script like School 2015 again where it can elevate her career as an A-list actress now that she's an adult. Hopefully, Good Boy will be that one.

I think Sohyun's problem is that she had a hard time transitioning to adult roles and back when she was with her old agency, they were the one giving her scripts so it helped her boost her career. But since late 2017, she became independent and the first drama she chose was Radio Romance which is honestly a weak drama that flopped. From her interviews, she's too focused on choosing characters that she could relate and have fun, instead of choosing based on how good the whole scripts are. I have to admit, I'm kinda dissapointed by it. I really hope Good Boy will finally have a good script and quality that can prove more of her abilities and give her recognition to be a top actress, like what School 2015 made her be back in her teen era.

PS. River Where The Moon Rises was actually her quality drama with a challenging role, it even got her nominated for Best Actress at Baeksang. But it's just the controversy and changes on the script that ruined it (they had to cater to fan service to amend the damage).

Yeah I agree. Sohyun is a private person and I think she will only reveal her relationship once she decides to get married years later. It's better that way and I hope she never gets exposed by Dispatch. I always wish that her career and privacy remains peaceful.

Those are just random rumors made by some fans. Sohyun said before that she's a motae solo (no boyfriend since birth). But that was years ago and hopefully she's happy with someone now.

I love Kim Sohyun, but if I have to be very honest, most of her dramas are average and didn't do well. The last drama of her that was really "great" was Who Are You: School 2015. The Emperor: Owner of the Mask and River Where the Moon Rises are amazing historical dramas with big production and it even had high TV ratings, it could have been great, but unfortunately, it got into controversies that left a bitter taste. The Tale of Nokdu and My Lovely Liar were good but it's not impressive. For Radio Romance and Love Alarm, sorry but I wish she didn't had these dramas since it made her look bad. While for her new drama Serendipity's Embrace, I don't have expectations for it since it looks like a simple romcom for an easy watch. In the past years after she became an adult actress, RWTMR is her only drama that have "wow factor".

In my opinion, I've always wanted Sohyun to star in a thriller or a melodrama like Missing You. I still think her best performance was Lee Soo Yeon and she was only 13 years old that time. The recent best performance of her as an adult actress are Pyeong Gang/Yeom Ga Jin/Queen Yeon in RWTMR. Sohyun has always been an excellent actress, but she needs a powerful drama and challenging role that can showcase her potential and abilities. I don't want her to be stereotyped in highschool romcoms, and in general, being stereotypical is honestly not a good thing to any actors. She's been a versatile actress in her child actress days, but the quality of dramas she choses has dropped since 2017. I hope she could explore and boost her filmography with diverse genres/different roles that can really make her shine and gain recognition as an adult actress. It kinda makes me sad how her career has slowed down compared in 2015-2016 where she used to be well loved in the spotlight.

I really hope Good Boy will finally be her "great" drama that will be a hit among the public and make her stand out as an actress. I have high expectations for it since it's a crime action genre and she's working with senior/veteran actors along with acclaimed director and writer who made Beyond Evil and Life On Mars. The script is really important and I'm glad she's finally working with reliable people. This drama is big and she hasn't done before, so I'm hoping for the best.

Serendipity is similar to Fate, but in a deeper way, it means "the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way". In this drama, the main couple met again unexpectedly and they discovered that they're special for each other. So that's why the "Serendipity" is like a lucky charm that comes to them and making them closer like an "Embrace".

Overall, the new title is romantically beautiful and poetic 💖

Sohyun only started filming Good Boy around March this year. Is It Fate was filmed in 2022 and it was announced first before My Lovely Liar. It really took a long time to release this drama and maybe they already pre-recorded the contents way before.

Finally the broadcast date is confirmed! And I'm glad that they changed the English title. Honestly, I don't like "Is It Fate" since it sounds too common. While "Serendipity's Embrace" sounds more beautiful and unique, I love it.

Also, I said before that I was worried how the original boy will adjust and adapt to his new life since he has an opposite personality from the gangster... But this "new life" is no longer him. Everything was done by the gangster and the original boy probably can't keep up with all the changes. But still, I'm glad he witnessed how his life got better and he acknowledges the efforts of the gangster. And he had the chance to witness it because the gangster saved him. It was the gangster who has the will to live. He saw their differences and he understands that. So he was willing to give his old life to the gangster and he continued to pass on the other side like what he decided from the start.

Wow. The ending got me so shocked. And I cried. I didn't expect that the original boy would give his life to the gangster. I said before that I really love the gangster and I hope he just stays. But something like, maybe he still has his body to turn back and he continues to be the father figure who supports the highschool boys on their side. But instead, he really stayed inside the boy's body. It's so unexpected and it gave me mixed emotions.

Honestly, I kinda relate to the original boy. This may be a controversial take, but sometimes, we should respect suicidal people. It's their own life and body. He's tired and he decided to pass on. I hope he gets a better new life when he gets reincarnated (I know this drama is just fiction, but it really affected me 😭). But at the same time, his life wasn't wasted since he gave his old life to the gangster who turned it to a new life and made it better. The gangster wanted to live and the boy gave him that chance. And it was the gangster who saved him from the start. Overall, it's a bittersweet ending.

The unique plot about SK-NK reunification with action genre deserves a big production. It's a waste that this turned out like a low budget webdrama with 30 minutes duration. So far, this drama is good, but the pacing and editing is awkward. It just feels bland and incomplete... It has potential and could've been great with similar dramas like K2H and CLOY if they produced it better.

The male lead in this drama is the best! He's strong and badass who knows to stand up for himself and fight against bad people, but at the same time, he's sweet and caring who helps and gives advice to everyone. He's the perfect father figure to the highschool boys and even to the adult gangsters. I really love the male lead's personality and sometimes, I hope the 47 year old gangster just stays. But sadly, his body is already gone, so I think it's already expected that he'll die once the original boy comes back? 😭

I'm also kinda worried about how the original boy will adjust and adapt to his new life when he comes back to his body... His personality is completely different from the gangster. Maybe he could still regain the memories? But anyway, I just hope the bad people gets punished and he'll live a better life ahead.

This drama is really good and it's just keep getting better.

I expected more fight scenes, but I'm also glad that the issue with the gangsters got resolved quickly and the male lead even teamed up with them. It's so fun to see their interactions and how they became his "uncles" lol.

Aside from the funny moments, there's also serious and emotional moments. I love it when the male lead took a beach trip with his friend to comfort him. Their friendship is so heartwarming and it's nice to see them getting closer together. I kinda teared up when his friend opened up about his problems and how he suffers from his controlling father. The fact that the gangster acts as a better father than the prosecutor. It's so satisfying how he confronted him and called out his wrongdoings.

The ending was kinda frustrating though, everyone literally lied to target the male lead. Anyways, the male lead is a cool badass and I can't wait to see him handling the situation on the next episodes!

You don't understand at all... The male lead was accused of stalking and blackmailing because he likes his male friend. The reason he got bullied and committed suicide is because he's gay... It's basically a bad representation and stereotype like in some other gay dramas/movies. It's actually better they didn't do this or this drama would've gotten worse outrage...

Also, "true nature" simply means "true identity". It could possibly indicate that he's still hiding in the closet. It's not confirmed yet and I'll just wait to see how it really turns out...
