Kim Sohyun has changed agencies for 3 times now. It's not about her agency, but it's just her picking the scripts.…
Her character was supposed to be a strong woman who's vengeful for her father's death. Her teasers even includes her holding swords so people had high expectations. But eventually, her character turned into a damsel in distress while the second female lead was made to be better. Her character was poorly written and was treated like a side character. Also, Sohyun had to cry many times while filming which made her felt lost and didn't understand the worth of her character. Netizens also blamed and hated her due to her character. The writer was a newbie and it seems like she only used and fooled Sohyun. Sohyun didn't expect that the script would turn out differently and it mentally affected her as an actress. She experienced slump for the first time at 18 years old.
PS. Back then, there was a conspiracy that the writer probably favored the second female lead since she came from a powerful agency 😅
There is a similar to what you are saying. It's "I Hear Your Voice" and the lead was Lee Jong Suk.
Yeah I've watched that drama before. The male lead's ability is mind reading while helping the normal female lead. But My Lovely Liar is different since the female lead's ability is specially focused about hearing lies and truths, it would've fit better in a court setting where justice should be served.
Thinking about this drama will always makes me sad... It's not because it has a bad ending, but more of the fact that it has bad viewers who keeps insulting this drama and especially hating on Kim Sohyun. I've been a fan of Sohyun since 2013, but sometimes I feel like a fake fan for wishing she didn't pick this drama. This drama gave her more popularity because of the Netflix trend, but it also just downgraded her career because of how mediore the script is and people hated her character so much to the point she's also being attacked as an actress. Someone even said they would boycott her. The hate she received while playing as poor Kim Jojo is even more extreme when she played a villain role in Moon Embracing the Sun. It's sad to see how some people are even calling her a bad actress just because of Love Alarm, when she's one of the top child actresses and she has proven to be excellent especially her peak with School 2015.
Actually, back in 2018, Sohyun was first offered to star in the Miss Granny remake, but the production was unstable so she declined it. And then Love Alarm came. Her career could've continued thriving if she only picked Miss Granny and Love Alarm didn't exist in her filmography. What a wasted opportunity.
PS. The haters of this drama are literally crazy. It's okay if you don't like this drama. But saying this is worst than Hitler is PSYCHOTIC.
Why Kim so hyun always get's terrible or medicore scripts, despite that she has quite good acting skills and tons…
Kim Sohyun has changed agencies for 3 times now. It's not about her agency, but it's just her picking the scripts. If she doesn't like something, she could've just refused it. But in the recent years, she really prefers romcoms since it's more fun and relatable to her.
She actually had a historical melodrama "River Where the Moon Rises" (2021), but it's not that known among kdrama fans. Sohyun was a great actress in that drama but she suffered due to the actor's bullying controversy. The same thing happened before in "The Emperor: Owner of the Mask" (2017) where she had a slump due to the writer's betrayal. That's why she's picking more romcoms with simple scripts since it's easy for her. Hopefully soon, she'll pick more strong scripts/challenging dramas that are also good for her health (her upcoming drama "Good Boy" might be great).
Remembering this drama and the ability of the female lead is actually unique. She can know what is a lie and truth by the distinguish sounds she hears.
In the first episode when the female lead was a high school student, she was planning to be a prosecutor, but she gave up since she's not that smart and she's poor. So instead, she decided to run her own business as a "liar hunter" while disguising it as a tarrot shop. I like this drama, but I'm also a bit disappointed since the female lead's ability was kinda thrown away half through the drama.
I wonder what would it been like if this was a crime legal drama and the female lead is a prosecutor/lawyer... I think it would've been so much better and she can utilize her skills further. She can easily know who is lying among the criminals and victims. There's a defect in her ability because the lies and truths are not certain and it can cause misunderstandings without knowing the real reasons behind it. But all she needs to do is uncover it and find evidences, which is part of her job. I would love it if they make a spin-off drama about the "liar hunter" being a lawyer.
Kinda random, but I don't like how it's called "loser" when the male lead is the one who first falls in love, does effort to get noticed and stays loyal to the female lead. It's not an insult, but that term is not fitting at all. Also, it seems like some people don't like/getting tired of this kind of male leads because they're "simps", when actually, they're just green flags who are so much better than old typical kdrama male leads who are arrogant and in denial about their feelings to the point they would act mean to the female lead. Anyway, I just started hearing about this "loser" term in 2024 and where did that even come from?
Yeah its cute and fluffy but at this point such plots have become too repetitive to enjoy. Maybe people who are…
Agree. I find the male lead bland because of his cold and aloof personality, which also makes the actor looks stiff and annoyed. That's why I don't feel anything about him even in romantic scenes. It doesn't feel sincere.
I like the female lead since she's so fun and easygoing, she just do whatever she wants. Her "oddball" nickname really suits her. But at the same time, I kinda find her annoying with how childish and dense she is (it's understandable especially since she was just a highschooler in love with the second male lead and her adult self is now more cautious). Some people are already expecting that she'll be very in denial about the male lead and I hope it won't be for long.
I like that the male lead is a green flag, but to be honest, he's just so bland and I don't feel anything about him. His romantic scenes doesn't feel sincere to me. His cold personality is boring and the actor is not convincing.
I don't like the second male lead since he's a red flag, but the actor is better and he's good at conveying his emotions.
I like the second female lead since she's mature and didn't try to ruin their friendship over a boy. She knew to let go of her one sided crush and accept the situation. I'm so glad that she's genuinely supporting her friend. But to be honest, it's bothering how the actress has awkward expressions.
Can't believe this drama got an 8.3 rating... It's enjoyable, but the plot is so mediocre and uninspired. This…
A lot of exceptional kdramas/movies in different genres also gets lower ratings despite being "true masterpieces and pieces of art". For example, Mask Girl and The Wailing, but it's not the taste of most kdrama watchers/MDL users. Romcoms are just more popular and they get the most hype because it's simply enjoyable and eye candy.
Honestly, I find the second male lead so annoying. I understand that his character is supposed to be kind and optimistic, but that also makes him so naive and sensitive. I'm so glad that the male lead is criticizing him everytime he makes rushed decisions/wrong actions. He feels so childish, so he needs to be more mindful and toughen up.
Just my personal opinion... I like gentle nice guys, but I don't like guys who are "overly kind". It's good that you won't have to worry about them hurting you, but you'll definitely worry that they might bring trouble to you, especially because they easily trust and help other people. Due to their innocence and naivety, they don't know how to put boundaries to other people.
"The Auditors" is definitely one of the best dramas this year and it deserves more popularity. The cases are intriguing and people will learn about white collar crimes in this drama.
Serious stuffs aside, I like their chase scenes. I find it funny how the criminals are running away because they don't want to get caught especially when they didn't want to give the laptop lol.
I thought she was in her late 30s so while watching My Sweet Mobster, I'm amazed how cute and youthful she looks like. Her face is literally glowing. But I found out that she's born in 1990 and she's only 33 lol~ Han Sunhwa is really beautiful and I like her refreshing vibes.
The main cast is now confirmed. Finally! Sohyun is getting her well deserved drama with a quality script and senior actors. It's an action mystery drama and she's the only female lead. I'm already so excited for her badass character as a gold medalist shooter turned police officer. Sohyun is a phenomenal actress and I'm sure she'll slay this since she played many strong characters before (especially Reset, Let's Fight Ghost, RWTMR where she had action scenes). She's been starring in many romcoms in the recent years, that's why I feel even more glad that this is a non-romance drama that focuses on crime cases. And if there is a slight romance, I wouldn't mind as long as it doesn't dragged the main plot and Sohyun's character is not just used as a love interest.
I'm kinda surprised with the other cast though, since I thought this would be a youth drama about young athletes and Oh Jungse would be their leader. But I like that they also included older athletes and OJS is the villain. It's interesting and I hope this drama will be good!
Someone commented about Sohyun's hairstyle and I actually wished that she didn't have bangs for the adult part to make her look mature as a 29 year old in this drama. She looks cute as a student and she still looks the same as an adult. Usually in other dramas, actresses have different hairstyles by bangs vs bangless to distinguish their past and present characters.
the SFL didn’t get rejected, ML never responded. I actually didn’t like this too much cos he usually rejects…
Yeah the ML didn't reject her directly, but not responding nor even talking to her is a clear sign of rejection (same way how it's a break up when the SML left the FL). The FL is unknowingly being a pushover because she just lets her friend keeps ordering her around to send the letters and ask the ML for answers, when the SFL can just directly confess by herself (and the ML will directly reject her too) instead of making it hard for her friend (especially when the FL and ML argued at the library). It's also wrong how the ML is using it to get closer to the FL, but aside from the letters, their other interactions were natural on their own interests.
Love your comment. Btw, am I the only one who thought Hye Ji may not actually be in love with Hoo Yeong in today's…
It actually looks like she's still clinging to her first love feelings on him and got excited when he came back. He was the reason why she became an English teacher and she also said she wants to go to the US with him. But she's now interacting/developing with another guy so maybe that will make her move on and let go of her first love.
This drama is so cute yet warm. I like the feel-good and nostalgic vibes it gives. To be clear from the synopsis, it's only the male lead who has a first love on her. While the female lead's first love is her ex-boyfriend and it looks like she also had a crush on an older guy (soldier) back in their highschool days.
The female lead is so adorable. I like that she's a cheerful and straightforward girl. It's fun watching her. At first, I didn't like the male lead since I thought he was the typical cold arrogant rich guy, but he's actually just calm and nice. He isn't afraid to show his feelings and admit it. Their chemistry is so cute, but there's also tension. I'm glad there hasn't been misunderstandings and they know how to communicate with each other. I can't wait to see their development, especially when the male lead confesses to her.
The only thing I don't like in this drama are the second leads. The second female lead feels delusional and entitled. The trope I hate in romance genre is when there's love triangle between friends and they order their friend to send the confession to the guy instead of doing it by themselves. I find it annoying how the SFL made the FL seem like a pushover by constantly making her send letters and follow the guy when she's already been rejected many times. While the second male lead is an insensitive jerk. How does he have the audacity to act like nothing happened when he left the female lead for 3 years? This drama only have 8 episodes so I won't have to worry that they'll dragged the love triangles. I hope they only focus on the main couple.
She just turned 25? Don't worry her Upcoming project with ParkBogum , HeoSungTae , OhJungSae is coming up soon…
I know she did historical and adult roles, but kdrama fans still see her as a highschooler because she's again playing another student role in this drama. I hope this time is the last one.
I'm really looking forward to Good Boy since she'll finally play a different role as a police in that drama.
