But let's see which route the drama will take.
I plan to read the novel too to fill in some details after this airs.

I really love this drama, so far everything is working out for me.
Normally, I also prefer more angst and lose interest when the couple are together. But this one had me giggling on their sweet moments.
I guess it really helps that this started with zero expectations, even with a really low rating here in mdl. In the early eps, it also started light and fun, as if not taking itself seriously. But it was able to flow smoothly into emotional arc.

Now, given the apparent success, and the current ratings. I know new viewers would be more critical. That is normal.
But I can objectively say, this is definitely one of the best this year!

with heavy heart I dropped LOTFG at ep24, it's just not working for me.
Therefore, since I have no lingering bias on the previous pairing, I can objectively assess this one.
Ep1 was great! I didn't have much expectation but it was genuinely good. The sequence and the fight scenes are giving movie vibes instead of just a regular drama.

Also, contrary to what others say, I don't think FL looks old at all. In fact she looks cute and I think that works against the General aura. Nonetheless, the outfit and fight scenes are better than LOTFG, imo.

Btw, does anyone else notice how Arthur only smiles with his mouth closed in this drama?
I hope it's because of his interpretation of the character and not cause he's insecure of his gummy smile.💕
I kinda miss those smiles from Lighter and Princess 💝

And I like how Nianjiu really matured on those 18yrs.
He grew smart and now imposing when around others.

Looks promising, but I hope they minimize the royal court scheming and plotting. This is what I dislike about Kdrama historical, too much screen time for the politics part.

Whatever the novel reader says, I actually like this pacing. It this was released years ago, it would take a couple of eps before they meet again. The uneventful reunion (NJ casually delivering her to SJ) was actually refreshing.

I feel sad for RuLing, not only was she SA'd but also killed. She doesn't deserve that 🥲
