I was happy even if this stayed as a comedic series that gives us butterflies. But woah, episode 12 onwards set a different tone and they did it right! It was gory, heavy and dark when it needed it to be. Again, this series just continue to positively surprise.π«
I couldn't get passed Episode 2 of LOTFG. Will go back to it at some point, but the trailers made it look much…
I have to agree. Even though I like both leads, it wasn't capturing my interest. I expected it to have a more serious and gritty tone. It pains me to say it felt lame on most parts. And the side plots were also not that interesting. ZY was also not so convincing as a female general. I wish they just went all out with more romance than having half baked plots. π₯² I'm on ep26 and paused it to watch WDBTD. Might pick it up one day again too.
Also I just want to point out how the rating is slowly going upwards. This started with a really low score, and with an obvious negative bias from some viewers. The way it's going up means it's objectively good. Total contrast to other overhyped series that starts big then crash and burn. Anyway, not that rating really matters lol
I've dropped LOTFG for this and I'm now on ep9. I've been trying to figure out what makes this show so much fun (aside from my little bias for Arthur). This drama reminds me of shoujo animes, a likeable funny FL and proper tsundere ML haha The story is also simple and easy to follow, not too much conspiracy and focus on side characters. I think around 80% of each episodes are just leads interacting with each other! (something that is rare for xianxia). It's definitely hitting all the right spot for me. π
Honestly LOTFG is only okay for me. The expectation I got from some of the battlescene pics from last year did not match the reality. Anyway, this new drama appeared out of the blue for me (even the mydramalist page also seem not prepared for it). Having no expectation is a good thing. But please don't suckπ―π―
I've been seeing more ChengLei clips on Tiktok, it's so cute how he is really shy. I have the impression he's not one of those guys who knew they are attractive from early on. It seems the new found fame and adoration is baffling for him. So refreshing seeing handsome men unaware they are handsome and not being full of themselves. Haha
I really like how they didnβt over complicate the plot, sometimes I see people saying they wanted some parts…
In the novel, the events were actually seamless and logical. You can even follow the reasoning of the villains and how things escalated the way they did. They did take a lot of liberty in drama version, there are just too many characters and sub-arcs in the novel that is hard to put on screen. But I can also understand how the laters eps seem bland, they did what they can to adapt it for tv.
It's a pretty simple plot that is somehow fun to watch. I like both ML and FL, but at the moment I only see sibling chemistry. Let's see in later eps when romance starts to kick in.
And I gotta mention it again, Arthur's voice is just *chef's kiss π€π".
During the years 2017-2018, there was a significant amount of movies and dramas released. The same can be said…
He really left his mark after Lighter & Princess, I think that became his representative work. He was in a bit of scandal after that (ex-gf tried to extort money and leaked intimate photos). Anyway he recovered after a short hiatus. Also, he's a nepo baby, his parents are big in entertainment industry (actress mom and director dad, his dad even directs in Hollywood). He can afford to be selective with work and take breaks when needed. Btw, altho he's a nepo baby, he's not annoying. He's truly talented and also based on interviews and reality shows, he seems quite grounded and not too reliant on his parents's fame.
How long is she gonna lug around her sack of belongings lolol I like her character, a little dumbdumb but not annoying. She reminds me of JinMi from Ashes of Love.
Ep2 now. man, FeiYu is prettier than the FL! π I love how they used his original voice. FL also has very good comedic timing. I like how they immediately set the tone so that it doesn't confuse or give false expectation. I'm so far enjoying it, the story is interesting yet not so complex to follow.
I still from time to time mourn how this could have been perfect and masterpiece of a story, if only the writer haven't given up towards the last few episodes. I wish I could re-write the last part lol Anyway, still a solid and good one, the only drama that made me cry and feel all sorts of emotion this year. Also solidifies BaiLu's acting skills and made me acquianted with Joseph. Been watching new drama release lately and nothing got me really hooked so far.
Got curious over this drama because it was mentioned by the producer that this was originally meant for Zhao Lusi…
I made this same comment and got the same negative reply lol I totally get what you mean, and I'm not even a crazy fan of celebs or care so much about production shenanigans but simply making comment about a 'what if' pairing. I think as long as the comment is not rude and malicious then it's fine. It's people who make a big deal out of this who are the real problem. It actually leaves a bad aftertaste and negative feelings with the drama itself when you encounter 'fans' like this. Anyway, hope this drama is good. π€π«Ά

It only needs a semblance of a plot as their faces are enough to catch interest
