Not really like that, it's a bit hard to explain unless you grew up in that culture.
It's more like the Asian parents have a template on how their kids life would go.
They always think they know best and have the right to make decisions for their kids to keep them into that 'life template'. You know that usual Asian parent line 'you will thank me for this when you get older'.
I'm not saying all, but Asian families continue to meddle thru different stages of their kids' life in varying degrees.
First studies, then about career, then they will meddle or atleast comment about getting married, then about having kids etc.
Because that is the 'perfect life template' that they want their kids to have and that is their 'love' for them

Are perhaps from the West? 😅 I totally get the frustration, but this is the reality for most Asian families. Asian parents are controlling, and children are expected to obey out of filial piety. Turning 18 is not really respected as being an independent adult in Asia.haha

She's a good Mother, but the typical meddling asian mom. we're just biased because we know LX's side. Think of it from the pov of the Mother, specially after that stunt LX pulled during the dinner. They are actually far more open-minded than other rich drama parents. They didn't look down on LX because of his poverty background and him being an orphan, they were also willing to compromise to let them be together abroad. Their issues with LX are entirely something else, and quite reasonable if you look at it from another view point.
Also they did not resort into schemes to keep them apart.
So for me, they're just normal parents. But I get how you are frustrated because we know the whole story 😅

that's a good question, that I'm also trying to figure out. I'm planning to read the novel while waiting for Monday and see if it is clearer there.
My guess is that because although FZJ is a cheater he is also still seen as a talented programmer. Those are not just simple competitions, the things they develop do end up getting patented and sold, when capitalism is involved, moral ground is not priority. So maybe sponsors were willing to overlook what FZJ has done because after all he still got potential to come up with great things.
I'm also thinking he pulled some dirty strings again that as long as LX admits he disrupted the competition 3 yrs, the Gao and ZY's first prize will be revoked. LX did disrupt the competition back then (instead of reporting it to the committee or teachers). I know it sound rather hypocritical of the school, they rather condone the silent cheating than lose face over LX's rather flashy way of confronting FZJ.


What baffles me still though is why LX gave in to FZJ. FZJ really outsmarted them there. He made them believe he has a lot of influence on the tech world and could prevent Gao's project (the winning project and the reason he was also supposedly going abroad for) from moving forward. Was it that believable to them that FZJ could do that much? Even Gao is desperate for LX to apologize when
it seems what he got in his sleeve is simply the arrangement to revoke the prize if he can get LX to admit he was in the wrong for disrupting the competition.
So I really think had LX kept quiet and not done or say any form of apology, nothing bad would have happen.

I'm back here again because I cannot stand the wait until Monday 😭😂
I already mentioned it before, but I'm begging anyone who can to please change the drama cover photo. It doesn't do justice to this story. Definitely not pink and blue and Xu Lina is definitely not needed there.
Would have been cool if they made something dark with the lighter, or a poster that shows the 3 LiXuns (the blonde, the dark hair, and the army cut). Those clips were what intrigued me and brought me to this show.

We always talk about LiXun but I just want to drop here that ZhuYun is probably one of the best FL in modern dramaland. She ticks all the boxes for me.
She's understanding, smart, loyal and her love is unconditional. Now there are many characters like this, but what sets her apart for me is that these traits actually borders into being a doormat or pathetic FL, but ZhuYun is quite the opposite. For me she's soft but strong.
They complement each so well, ZY understands LX so well and knows when to push him or when to give in.
In many stories with same plot, the couples are always toxic together, but ZY and LX are so in tuned with each other and basically just super strong as a unit.

Obviously on part2, it seems ZY will still do the chasing, I hope she doesn't get any hate for this. I think it is pretty consistent with their characterisation. And I do think in the 3 yrs ZY had already half figured what happened. I don't think the depression is because she carries some resentment for LX (about XuLina or him saying he didn't love her), but it's rather because she's heartbroken by the fact that his life was destroyed.
So no, I don't expect any begging for forgiveness scenes from LX and ZY playing hard to get. And I'm okay with that and I even prefer it that way. It would ruin LX character for me if he suddenly begged ZY to come back to him.

Btw, it's also a plus points that ZY doesn't have a cutesy high pitch voice.haha

Btw, I just realized we never got a backstory how RenDi and LiXun were friends. The oldest scene we saw is they were already pretty close when he invested in her band.

Pretty sure there was no murderous intent from FZJ. He was trying to distract LX from taking action before he gets his award in the competition. He knew he would immediately go after him after Gao and LX's win from 3 yrs ago was revoked, and that he will do things to keep him from winning the competition again.
I still think Gao is the nastiest. He set things into motion, he gave purposely gave the hint to FZJ about LX's sister. And then after the accident, he was aggravating LX's rage by purposely mentioning FZJ's involvement.
I was hopeful about his character til the last minute, but he is now truly the worst.

This is interesting to know. This means novel LX had some gfs before ZY?
I think I prefer drama version, it's more consistent with LX's character as he is aloof and looks down on everyone.

The director definitely dropped hints they were sleeping together during those times. It's just not relevant to the plot to make it explicit, and it also wouldn't help in the censorship check.

Yes, that's why I like this series , because if you look from every characters pov, their actions do make sense, not all agreeable, but atleast understandable.
We're just taking sides because we know all the detail and big picture 😂

For me I didn't put much symbolism into his actions. LX is pretty straight forward, he waited for the award's day because that was the root cause of ZhiYing's misdeeds, revenge is just more impactful that way.
I don't think it has anything to do with the sister's eye, but he did specifically went for ZhiJing's eyes to ruin his life/career (they are programmers, it's vital to them). Remember he already planned to ruin ZhiJing's professionally/legally even before the sister's accident.
And here comes the bad 'friend' Gao who egged him into using the violent/physical way.
He knew he will go to prison so he left the company to Gao.

All in all, I think the ideal is if LX stuck with ZY and did their revenge on ZhiJing the 'legal' way. But realistically, I understand LX as the emotions were raw. He wanted to exact revenge asap.

Like during NewYear's eve, ZY was bored and LZ was like 'let's do exercise together' and carried her to the sofa. And cut to the scene of them walking outside and ZY was disappointed that they were 'really exercising' lol
and LZ teasing her what else was she thinking.

They were in a relationship for 3 yrs (about 4 til the breakup). I don't think they are officially living together, ZY still has her things at the dorm.
BUT, I don't know if my mind is just dirty 😂 but there are many scenes and lines that suggest they do sleep together and are intimate. I think ZY stays in his apartment from time to time.
