If I get this correctly, LBY is 25, right? He started living as Emperor's foster son at 10 and the massacre has been 15yrs. So that gives them 9 or 10 yr age gap. I'm happy nobody here is making an issue about CSS's age. We shouldn't apply our modern rules in period dramas like this.
your profile pic tho 🥺 it makes me smile n cry at the same time
same, it's been years and still cannot cope with the ending of this one. Hopefully, LLTG will break our hearts but mend it towards the end. I do not want to reexperience the trauma from Scarlet Heart.haha
Just dropping by to say he never fails to impress. I didn't know him before the Long Ballad, but I became a fan after seeing what a talented and handsome actor he is. And now, boy he's killing it again in Love Like the Galaxy!
She's so adorable and charming. I think she's the only actress who acts cutesy who I don't find annoying and cringey. Even Dilraba (who I also adore btw), I can't stand her cute role acting. The only other tolerable actress for me (when it comes to acting cute) is Yang Zhi. But LuSi, she's just super super cute like a little bunny, that I just want to put her in my pocket hahahaha And not to undermine her acting skills, aside from the adorable roles she get, on serious acting mode, she also killed it in the Long Ballad. Looking forward to all her new projects.
I'm finally caught up, I finished all aired episodes within 2 days. I have a feeling this will go on my all time favorite Cdramas, it has already made me laugh and cry within the first few episodes. After starting and dropping so many other series, this one had me instantly hooked. True, the romance is a bit slow paced, but I personally enjoy it like this. There is character focus rather than just pushing romance to the viewers. And this started with CSS at 15 so I'm pretty sure this is gonna be a saga where we watch her mature and go thru life hardship. I can only hope they release part 2 soon to not lose momentum.
I'm still in ep1 so too early to pass judgements. And so far, here is what I can say, the cinematography, color grading, set and costume looks high quality (seems like this has a big budget). I always expect first episode of dramas like this to be awkward or cringy, but here it feels more natural. I gotta say though, Wu Lei looks under the weather here. I still think he is in his BEST, HOTTEST AND MOST DIVINE form when he was Ashile Sun in the Long Ballad, with his half braids and long wavy hair *chef's kiss*
I feel like the makeup artist is doing DangGu and Crown Prince dirty. It is definitely Yul who looks best among the four. But it's like the makeup artist is trying hard to even out the field by glamming up Crown Prince and DangGu. The eyebrows, eyeshadows, bright pink lipstick in my opinion are too much. Pretty sure the guys look better with more of their natural looks.
I really appreciate that unlike other dramas set in historical period, the relationship between royals, aristocrats, commoners and slaves here seems more relax. The gisaeng, maidservant and even the slaves like MuDeok are able to talk and act more openly even around royals. I'm glad the social status difference does not play much into the plot.
As someone who is not used to watching Chinese variety show, I partially agree with the comment below atleast on the first few episode. Dongdong (Chen) seems to be the only one who knows what he is doing, JingYu (Johnny) looks very out of place, Jackson was just being Jackson, and Nannan (Vin) looks terribly awkward standing on the sides doing nothing when he was given the bear costume. The children also seems like brats and annoying in the beginning.
I think why it felt it was off in the beginning is because I keep comparing it with some kids varietyshow in Korea, Little Forest or TROS for example. In those shows you see the cast or guest really focusing on the kids and trying hard to be a good guardian or leave a good impression (too hard at some times that you feel it is not natural). In Little Forest they even got some child care license etc. In LGOMB, they just appeared like a reluctant group of guys who were caught unprepared for babysitting. It seems very weird at the beginning but as it progress they started to grow on me, both the babies and the cast. Their progress looks more organic than just forced for the camera. You can definitely tell by how the kids have been interacting with them that their relationship have greatly improved. The awkwardness was replaced with ease, and they begin to tackle situations with humor.
I also noticed the way they edited this is they kept it basic, they did not create any subplots in the story board. TROS can shoot in the most boring day and editors will make it look intense. I'm not saying pick some scenes and make it dramatic, but I think this is a pity as I've seen from the unreleased clips a lot of funny moments and even more interesting situations. The Director simply took the daily schedule and build the episode around that. I can't decide if it is a good thing or not, but there was no individual focus on any character, it just felt like watching them from a CCTV and making our own conclusion on what kind of person they are. Well, maybe this is the Director's way of keeping screentime equal.
Overall, I enjoyed it. It felt so random but I think they did a good job. Dongdong is definitely the best, he's the type who not only know how to deal and discipline babies but at the same time still knows how to joke around with them. Second, I'd pick is Nannan, he worked really hard, he's like the older responsible brother to the babies. I felt sorry for him a couple of times as since he is also the youngest in the 'gege group', he seems to be out of place when with the bigbros.
And for the babies, my favorite is HaoHao. Not just because he is stinkin cute, but the kid got a whole personality for a 3 yr old.haha He is very responsive and gives good reaction and says the darnedest things in his cute little voice.
I mean who does this ????????????I get the celebrity’s motivation kind of but what kind of crazy ass parent…
I know I am replying to a 4yr old comment, but I also got confused with this when I saw the synopsis. So after finishing the show, I can clarify that the kids only stay with them for 3 consecutive days at most, then they go home. And then they come back to shoot after a week or so again.
First watched it at 19 yrs old. Liked it back then. Now rewatched at 30yrs old. Loved the drama to the max. Watching…
Yes, TW dramas were the best back then (before kdramas and even cdramas exploded). I think it's more the lack of budget for production and international marketing. Korea really worked hard to spread the Hallyu wave and China has so much freaking money for grand productions. I am convinced there are still many great TW dramas out there, it just that they were not given much international attention ('Someday or Oneday' for example) or not picked up by subbing teams.
As for something like Autumn Concerto, this one is hard. I thought 'Loving, Never Forgetting' should be it, but it was to melodramatic. 'Only You' is close but still not good enough. I could suggest Cdrama 'Begin Again' for you, it's not exact premise, the beginning start light and fun but as you go along it's really good. And their baby boy is very very cute.
The HYX of 2017 (breakup and plane crash year) was still just an ordinary normal girl. Unlike LZW (who is currently…
Yes, exactly. This is why I enjoy it too. I still think about it and I have questions pop up now and then, but then when I try to rethink, I get all the answers because they were there or hinted all along. Like with that car, it was mentioned they bought an old model car (even the mechanic don't want to fix it anymore) and she was just still using it to hold on to the memories. Everything makes sense, brilliant scriptwriting.
don't get about the critics about the casting to be honest. Why the cast have to act like original cast? there…
I never mentioned that they should find someone exactly like Greg Hsu. I'm talking about the character Li Zi Wei, and true that they could make some changes. But the core of the story that cannot change is they need an actor who has a wide range of emotion and acting skill (transition from charming cheeky teenage boy - to - ideal perfect boyfriend who hides a secret - to - a depressed middle age man ).
I would have no negative comments at all if they introduced a newbie or an unknown actor for the role, as it is more exciting to be pleasantly surprised (just like how DoHyun and InHyeop had shined these past years out of the blue). My problem is that I've already seen a lot of Ahn HyoSeop that disappointed me. This skill that you are talking about, I do not see it at all. He is either always overacting or is underwhelming. This is subjective personal opinion of course, but it seems like I'm not the only who thinks so. Not to be shallow so I asked myself if it was because I do not find him attractive, but I also do not find Kim SeonHo and LeeSeungGi attractive, but I think they are highly highly talented and I love watching their show because of this. So this is not a face bias at all.
I will still watch this because I love the original so much, and I do hope that this time, this one doesn't again end up in the pile of disappointment and I finally see this 'skill' that you are talking about.
Am I the only one who sees a bit of Won Bin in his face? Like his face is WonBin but with a little bit more roughness mixed in and a bit less perfect. Idk if that is making sense lol It surely is not an insult, it's just because WonBin is god-tier when it comes to visual. And LSH being in the same mold is still really really attractive.
I know YuanShen is 21. And Luo Yao is probably still in teens.
I assumed LBY is older among the 3.

Was just being distracted by the CrownedPrince glossy pink lipstick😅

Who's your cast then?
