Didn't Prince Chengde and ML father die in a battle against Prince Changxin 17 years back? I might be wrong, but…
In my memory there was a lso a scene where they request reinforcement from Prince of ChangXin (so at that time he was an ally). But ChangXin refused to help because the seal or something like that was fake (intentionally orchestrated by the Emperor). So I don't think he's responsible for their death.

It was a long time ago since I read it. But iirc even WeiYan supports Prince Chengde. The real enemy is the previous Emperor who plotted against his own son and set up the war to weaken his son's force. Although from QiMin pov, WeiYan usurped the throne and the power. Honestly, I'm also getting confused now trying to recall the convoluted plot haha
Well the current Wei Yan/Puppet regime stole Qi Min's father's throne. So Wei Yan/Puppet is NOT on his side and…
Did you read my post? I said everyone EXCEPT WeiYan can be on his side. I was alluding to the fact that he (QiMin) treats everyone as enemy even though he doesn't have to.
iirc, even Prince ChangXin is not an enemy of Prince Chengde. Sui's rebellion is against the current regime (WeiYan and Puppet Emperor). So Idk why QiMin is giving himself a hard time. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Technically, everyone except WeiYan will be on his side. He got batshit crazy he can't even rationalize.
If only QiMin is a bit normal, he could have both Li faction and Xi Zheng on his side, plus his little family. But my man chooses to be a psychopath ๐ฉ
I don't know if it's favoritism or just filling the space between our leads meet again.
Yes, exactly the point ๐ they just made out (which is not even in the novel) but you can tell the scene was well prepared and was a longer sensual scene than normal for Cdramas. And yes, the father/son scene was also a highlight for me. So far, the Director is really good on taking care of the subplots.
If HE didn't know, General He definitely did know. Otherwise why send that army guy to fake-force her to stay…
Nope, I read the novel and iirc she wasn't fake forced into the work camp. YZ would not put her into force labor like that. I'm actually trying to recall now what exactly happened since it seems they deviated a bit from the novel.
I honestly donโt get why heโs still lying instead of coming clean. Now he doesnโt just continue to lie but…
In the novel it's simply because he's afraid they'll drift apart. CY is a simple minded girl with simple dreams. She wants a quiet and peaceful life for her and her sister. Remember when she said she wants a boring, scholarly husband. XZ is the complete opposite. XZ knows life as his wife won't be easy, plus he's got a blood feud. CN was even kidnapped because of him. He's afraid CY might even resent him for this.

I didn't mean it negatively, but I do think the Director loves their chemistry and try to squeeze their storyline. I did not see the same care for details during the recent scenes where YZ saved CY twice. But it's probably also because we still have more scenes to look forward for the main couple.
I'd like to see the same Director do a series with just QianQian and QiMin. Because with all the scenes so far, it's giving favoritism. The visuals, the camera work, seems to all be taken care with much details. They even got scenes that are not in the source material.
