Always...It's so damn frustrating. All the damn subbers are on the Korean stream and that country is mass producing…
Never thought you did. It just gave me an outlet for me to express my frustrations. I do find the other East Asian media rarely get the subbing they deserve. There are a lot of things coming out of the Philippines that I can't access and listening to tagalog is a killer.
I'm genuinely curious regarding your view on the series now. Still the same? I'm actually not into this series…
Unfortunately, it's still the same. At first, I was really enjoying 'My Tee, 'Cause You're My Boy', but after I started watching this...I started picking up on all the things that are wrong with this lakorn. I can't watch it now.
I've kind of sort of dropped 'My Tee, 'Cause You're My Boy'. Right now, it's all about 'It's Complicated.' Oh, I did see the last episode (ep. 4 - I promised myself I would watch up to half of the eps before I made my final decision) and the only thing I did like was the last scene where they had the awkward kiss.
I think I have this thing about boys having awkward kisses. It was my favorite thing about 'Seven Days: Thursday-Sunday' (I loved everything - but that scene...yeah, one of my favorite scenes - I seriously need to finish that manga). Wait, I need to find out if they have an anime.
Sorry, side-tracked. Yeah, still not feeling it. The episode before...OMG, the cutting of the scenes. I'm telling you...it's the acting. The storyline is all over the place. The filming is super choppy where I get lost a little bit. I don't know how people follow it. I mean you could watch any episode of Love Sick right, but I randomly chose S2E3. You have Phun's Sister's part cut's into Phun's friend's party which has Golf who's love interest is having a sort of anniversary party w/boyfriend 3 parties at once.
Theme: party. Phun leaves the party to go home - Sister & her friends play part in Phun's story. Golf leaves the party and goes to love's anniversary. 3 turns to 2 then to 1. They're all interwoven and all of this happens in ONE night. Not daylight to night. In episode 3 of this show...Pete gets punched in daylight then he's pushed into this concrete area and it's pitched dark and raining. WHAT? Huh? When? How? Keep in mind, he's still at the school? Which part of the school is this? Cambodia?
1. The stalker boy for the track team kid. I'm still trying to figure that out. What is that about? What is the point of it? Think about it. If you remove their entire scenes from the story do you remember anything? Would you miss anything? No. I don't know what the hell is going on with them? I'm so confused and it's episode 4?
By the way...just on a practical level. Stalker boy is just creepy and I don't want him with 'Champ' <- Is that his name? That's a good kid and can do better than a kid who looks like he has his picture on a wall with hearts around and has pillows with his pictures of his face. Naw...I'm not feeling that.
2. Can and that Rich kid? What is that point of that? Like when the rich kid got the phone call...it was all mysterious and shit...but it went nowhere? What was the point of it being all nefarious and stuff? Why? Stop it. Ugh. Or the last episode - Can was screaming at Richie when he almost gets hit by Rich kids car. Thing is Can's playing with his soccer ball, badly mind you, a ball falls into a road and he tries to get the ball and almost gets hit. Ugh. Why? Why make these forced scenes. Another couple...Purpose has yet to be established or meaningful to grab your heart and it's ep 4. That's now how this works. That's not how any of this works.
3. The DID and PC scenes. OMG. Why? Why? Why? This might be what is really your problem with the lakorn you know. That's one of the primary reasons for me (keep in mind this list is not in any particular order). I've come to realize that's one major ass problem for me. We've outgrown these stupid DID & PC stories.
To those who like it, this is our prerogative. When we were kids sure and from time to time, sure. But I mean what? What's more...if we want to watch it...we can see that in a hetero story any time we want. It's ALWAYS there - especially a drama (kdramas are notorious for them). Please don't get me wrong...I like them like the next person---currently watching, What's Wrong With Secretary Kim. However, it's not normal for BL stories to have DIDs & PCs. This is a DID & PC w/ Men. I can't think of one. I just can't. What...'In Love With A Rival'? Well not really...It's not like the guy was being bullied and/or weak. A Round Trip To Love /Irresistible Love - - - No, they don't compare in the same way. However, you can compare any of these with these with it.
Master's Sun & She Was Pretty might be harder b/c they're older but it's basically the women are being bullied for one thing or another by co-workers or people on the outside. The guy has come several times and saves her. He doesn't know why and slowly they become friends -- they have an awkward kiss. They don't know their feelings. Oh, there's always a bromance. Always a love rival. Not to mention family conflict (well of course).
* Goblin *Cinderella & 4 Knights * She Was Pretty *Master's Sun Need I go on...Oy.
In a BL, not always a love rival. That's hit or miss. I find the bullying here unrealistic. Emotional debates and struggles on love. The love story isn't shallow. There's just a lot going on there.
I remember playing around w/ this thought. Imagine they turned Mischievious Kiss into a BL or Hana Yori Dango? Then I started going nutty nutty: Heirs - BL it. Gossip Girl - BL it. I wish I had a damn magic wand man. I'd be BLing shit left and damn right. But then I'd have stupid DIDs & PCs EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!
4. Disability - The boy who speaks slowly obviously has a disability and they're using this as a comedic device on the lakorn. I feel like I'm the only one who sees this and disgusted by it. It's not something I brought up before, but I've been seeing it more and more b/c more and more his character is made to do that and isn't relevant. I hoped he would have more of a role beyond this but he hasn't and it's ep 4. I feel as though they're trying to make me laugh at him. Like a Laurel & Harty skit. For those who don't know...YT it...I don't know. Anyway -- it irritates me because I don't find it funny. I want him to do something. However, I don't know what they him to do -- and that's why it appears he's slapstick. That's not funny.
5. The brothers...I don't if I did lets okay. If I didn't lets touch on them...it's short. Why? What's the point. I feel like they're filler. Don't they have enough BL couples. Why do they need so many? They can't even handle the ones they have. Just focus on a few and run with that. Why do they need so many of them. Even Earth apparently has a boyfriend. That means EVERYONE but the best friend is in a BL relationship. Why? Just really. This was one of my issues with Make It Right and why I would actually like with 2Moons -- bring in some more hetero couples --- some girls. Listen, I love BL but I'm a girl. Why don't they put some more like 2 hetero couples (legit ones) w/ a fujoshi I can live vicariously from. I'm watching a Viet drama and that Sis lord have a mercy...she is queen of fujoshies. I'm like yes girl and she's naming positions.
Yeah...okay so I have problems with this show and it keeps growing rather than lessening.
LMAO! Again it seems like you are defending China and their backwards policies. Are you sure you are American?…
"There are plenty of gay characters in US media! What are you talking about? AND we have many gay celebrities. Being gay, even in the south and midwest, isn't a big deal in the US anymore and gays can get married in Alabama if they wanted. We had BL's back in the 80's for crying out loud! lol" --------------------------------------- I don't think you understand my post please go back and read it. You from my understanding were speaking on "censorship" when you said "prudish" --- I replied in kind. Also, in yaoi manwha many of the things that would happen are things that would be censored in "'MURICA" . Being Pan, I personally think it still is a big deal and I'm from NYC - Harlem. However, that's just me. --------------------------------------------------------------------
"Even when comparing China to the rest of East Asia, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and even freaking Cambodia and Burma are less homophobic than China's government." --------------------------------------------- This is too damn long...
China isn't some innocent. It's a damn fuckin' hell for LGBT+. They definitely have a long way to go. Yet, there are changes being made. You do know that people are getting married even if they aren't recognized and they aren't beaten and killed. They are taking their cases to the courts to fight for equal rights. I don't know if you might disregard this or not, but what's important about that is-- the courts are listening. They aren't disregarding it. They're listening. The government is trying to even stifle this on social media platforms and people fight against and social media changed their regulations b/c people fought against it.
So then when people are telling me China is hateful and destructive and the worst place to be and this and that. I'm like, yes, China has a lot of problems when it comes to the LGBT+ community. I know. A lot of issues. However, there are so many people and so many influences from the outside b/c of its ameba-like expansion that its politics and way of being is changing and forced to change. I sincerely believe in the next 5 years if not sooner it will have to allow same-sex marriage. We have to recognize that people die and new people come into leadership and when they do they come with new ways of thinking. I don't need you to believe me. I'm just looking at the United States -- we didn't allow gay marriage until 2015 and we had Trump banning transgenders from the military in 2018. Ruining our progress Obama put in place.
However...I have to ROFL by the statements your making and your age and what you know about South East Asian LGBT+. To state they're WORSE than in Myanmar (not Burma) or South Korea is an absurdity. I will never debate Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, or Taiwan. They were never up for discussion. I can break down their laws in full detail.
Taiwan being the best with same-sex marriage --- which is what makes me think that actually, China MIGHT actually eventually change alongside with Hong Kong's very advanced Westernized thinking because they were a former Commonwealth. But that's neither here nor there...since you don't know how far-reaching that is and complicated. It's an international politics thing that I can't be bothered with to detail.
Right back on topic. As for South Korea one of the worst for homosexuality. The worst. They do what China does but it's completely defacto. All they do is not making a law. It's just not a law and in your face, so they're not called tyrannical and put in the same category as China. They do the same BS. It's already a problem I'm black. Then they see me spitting another girl, they will spit at me. Do your homework on South Korea, okay. Then get back to me. had one of the oldest parades in East Asia the government shut them down for years and they were abused attacked by the public. As for Myanmar, you know it's illegal to be gay in that country right? It's life imprisonment. They have freakin' public canings in that country over homosexuality and you're saying China is worse than Myanmar. Where are you getting your information? Sir, sir. Please, do not discuss things you don't know.
China has the Shanghai parade where they're protected in the parade and their Pride "Month" is 4 months long --- Yeah...I'd like to hang out with my peeps there for 4 months going to the parties and celebrating in the streets at all the parades they have. Dude I'm there ---they have more than one parade during those months.
Do you even see their media - There have been what? 4 dramas that had a gay couple I can name them. Yes, they have BL movies, very few of them. I've had to actually now pay for them on Vimeo. Just b/c I want to support the BL community in SK. That's super expensive. They're also short films, but it needs to be done. I have seen explicit BL dramas post the ban (where the dialogue has stayed intact w/o the kissing or sex) in China is different. It's muted no kissing, no hand-holding, or sex in the dramas. However, if your someone who's read the books the dialogue is still there. So there's really no way you can miss the BL. So it's bizarre for men to say some of the things they say to each other. While bros just wouldn't say some of the things they say. In the Chinese films, the ban doesn't extend that far. Chinese films are free for all. ----------------------------------------------------------------
"Thailand is a monarchy, not only that Thailand is a very traditional country. With that said, the society of Thailand (ie the PEOPLE) are very accepting and open. Bangkok and Chiang Mai, beautiful people and cultural customs. The Theravada Buddhists, so kind and open-hearted. Thai society is pro-gay, its proven by the polls, its proven by their tolerance of gay media and its rather large fanbase." -------------------------------------- I don't know what you're telling me. I know the history of the culture. You do know they have 5 genders there which what makes that cool. They do have their issues gender-wise and religious that are working on. The only drama that had a BL in it was in 2009 with P'Pong Nawat (Mr. Sexy - I wanted to marry him. ~sigh~ I still do.) People didn't like it was in the lakorn. Sadly, they did was bump chests in slow motion and give sad eyes to each other.
It wasn't until 6 years later for Thailand to get a BL lakorn --- everyone should bless the ground Love Sick walks on. For real. Don't think that b/c you see so many BL stories that this is the norm. If not for Love Sick it wouldn't be like this. Love Sick truly catapulted BL. As I said, it wasn't as tolerated as you may have thought. I know the first drama had BL in it and it wasn't welcome -- it caused a stir in the nation. The country always had homosexuality just like in the US.
There were documentaries on the treatment of "lady-boys" which is one of the genders. It is accepting. It is a beautiful nation with its issue - nowhere is that great for LGBT+. Don't think it is...that's why it's still a big deal for me in the US or otherwise, even if it's not for you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Taiwan is the real China. The "People's" republic was poisoned by the evil Mao and his communist ilk. Communism has been traditionally homophobic. Look at the Soviets and Cuba for examples. I want China to become more open and it WAS before Xi and his tyrannical aspirations became reality." --------------------------------------------
I'm not getting into this debate since I actually support Cuba. I hate communism but support Marxism. People should have Das Kapital rather than the Communist Manifesto. However, my Masters is in Economics so maybe that's why but then my BA is in Politics and International Relations ---whatever.
However, this is irrelevant and making me have a Karl Marx moment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
"China invests because they are an economic power and only their government is still stuck in the communist past. The people are progressing, with or without their leaders. And capitalism is becoming more common place in modern China." --------------------------------------
As a note, and just for fun --- find out who Adam Smith (also known as the father of Capitalism) Karl Marx loved him. Karl Marx was a huge fan of Adam Smith point blank and this is a historical fact.
I hate the Communist Manifesto... but as far as economics and economical speaking -- Communism is a political system -- with a political ideology, educational, social ideology. It's not explicit, it's implicitly through these structures an economic system is built, however - it has an invisible capitalist shadow due to globalism. A perfect example is to study Finland, Sweden, Norway. That would be EXACTLY what Karl Marx is speaking about. People don't read Das Kapital. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
"If I didn't like the Chinese people or culture, then I wouldn't really care. Sure I'd still dislike the tyranny but I wouldn't be so passionate. I love Chinese people, and I want them to be free. Truly free." ---------------------------------- You make it seem like they're in chains man. They're in the same boat as South Korea. One is just de facto. Actually, they're in the same boat we were 30-40 years ago. They've evolved a lot considering. I really feel as though you have a superficial understanding about LGBT+ in China. I'm not saying it's great. Far from it. However, you're making it seem like they're being cained like in Myanmar. I sincerely doubt I would be spat on -- like I would be in Korea, in China. Especially Shanghai.
Is this a BL series, when will this start, if it from China, what about the band on bl series and dramas, as well…
It's BL & Taiwnese - last I checked; I'm trying to find out when it's going to start as well. It looks like it's done filming but they just haven't aired it. As a note the ban in China doesn't extend to films. The ban also speaks on explicit visual homosexual interaction. Gay sex, kissing, hand holding, etc. However, in the dramas if you pay attention to the dialogue of the dramas that are BL the writers maintain 90% of the dialogue so the guys are saying things bros don't say to one another.
Ok. Im just here to say my bit. Its normal to have differing opinions. It all depends on what you are looking…
The problem then is that you'll recommend ALL bl. Recommendations should be theme based or subtextual based. So then, for instance, the best recommendation would have been Love Sick - Unfortunately.
Love Sick is so superior though and doesn't really relate in any way. No one is a DID or PC. No one, not even the side characters and their relationships. There's nothing connecting them. Excepting they're Thai, it's bl, Boy Sompob, and a few of the actors.
It's like they took a heterosexual story and turned it into a BL story. So mentally I can find a billion DID/PC stories that are hetero but I can't find another BL story that matches this properly.
@vaberella I think every show has its targeted audience and every target has it's target as well, that is what…
High-Five! It was like a soap-opera. Ugh...ugh! It was like General Hospital and everyone was super hot. I'm like just tell him already that you don't want him --- stop stringing him along...this is for both guys. Look...it was exhausting. Are you a girl or a guy...these BLs...I can't. I can't.
Well you cannot like this but overall is really well done and the acting is really better than most of thai drama…
Yes, yes I do. Why wouldn't I think that? What is your basis to believe that China would not be open to gay marriage? I can give reasons why I think they would be? 1. Taiwan is a country directly related to China and has allowed same-sex marriage. That won't change any time soon. That community will get larger and will stay intact. 2. Hong Kong is one of the most progressive states in China and always has been. It was the first to actually have a BL film if I remember. I saw it at the movie theatre. I love that move, I love that movie, I love that movie. To this day HK is still making BL films despite the ban. Not to mention has a very strong BL community despite following Chinese law. 3. Shanghai - has the longest running gay pride in East Asia (world) March-June 4. The more and more it starts integrating cultures and people into its country the more and more it will have to start advancing and changing its policies. ------------------------------------------------ The United States didn't change its views on gay rights until 2015. Other's thought it would be, NEVER also. -------------------------------------------------- As far as Korea ---- Do some homework. They have a de-facto ban sweetie. Especially what happened to Korea's gay parade. Those Ajummah's would have a field day.
However, I will leave with this question. If it's not homophobic how come we haven't seen a bl drama? If it's not homophobic how come we haven't seen bl couples (except 4) in tv shows? ------------------------------------------------- That's the thing they're not bromances though. I think that's where our miscommunication lies. This is the problem and this is what I'm talking about. YOU are looking for the sex. That's exactly what you're looking for. If you weren't you'd realize the majority of the text remained the same so it's weird for a man to SAY what these guys SAY to each other. It's just not a bromance.
If two bros said what they said to each other in front of me. I would walk away and know I'm interrupting a private moment. I would also know those guys are in a relationship. I have no gaydar, but I DEFINITELY would know, something is just not right when a man calls another man "baby"; like in Advance Bravely. The scenes were muted where the dialogues were set, but the dialogues were basically the same. The only one I would admittedly be disappointed by is Guardian, but it was so good, and I still saw BL. But AB, BE...a few others...definitely BL if you pay attention to what they SAY.
LMAO! Again it seems like you are defending China and their backwards policies. Are you sure you are American?…
Excuse me but as a note, with or without a ban they would have to rewrite the story in any event. I was surprised by the amount of things Chinese media allowed them to get away with initially in Addicted/Heroin because YOU know as well as I do that wouldn't fly in 'MURICA. I don't know if you've read manwha but it's not something that even late night US would show unless it's cable television. Which means a good population of " 'MURICA" would be removed from as they already are due to finances. On top of that, if you're going to count 'Murica (and I thank the gods I was raised a New Yorker -- let me be more clear New Yorker, New Yorker --- b/c we have some clowns from upstate that are dangerous)...anyway, if we're speaking about the US, generally, we wouldn't have this clown in Presidency who's rolling back all of our major progressive policies that exemplified our freedoms. In addition, as far as China...I am speaking of China in relation to China and to East Asia, not in relation to the West - so please take a seat. East Asia has its own standards that are cultural, religious, and governmentally influenced. Ugh...I was going to break down all countries in East Asia and their relationship to China and then I became exhausted. Anyway, Taiwan is the coolest and my favorite. China can't hold a candle. None of these other East Asian countries can, not even Thailand if we're looking at political freedoms for LGBT. Considering Taiwan's weird political connection with China...I hope there results in some social reform. This may seem far fetched but I am also looking at how fast China is moving. They've even entered my country of birth and started rebuilding it...that says a lot. They were always there, but they've been pushing for more investment. That says a lot.
He just got arrested for scamming someone out of $24 million in bitcoin. I saw it on NextShark news. It's such…
Oh that's good. I just read that he's also denying that he did it. However, I read that his older brother and sister is involved. Not to mention that high powered accounts or something like that were all involved in the scheme along with them. I'm trying to figure out what type of people he was rolling with and if he's a High-So.
I've kind of sort of dropped 'My Tee, 'Cause You're My Boy'. Right now, it's all about 'It's Complicated.' I know.

Thai society is pro-gay, its proven by the polls, its proven by their tolerance of gay media and its rather large fanbase."
--------------------------------------
I don't know what you're telling me.

'Taiwan is the real China. The "People's" republic was poisoned by the evil Mao and his communist ilk. Communism has been traditionally homophobic. Look at the Soviets and Cuba for examples. I want China to become more open and it WAS before Xi and his tyrannical aspirations became reality."
--------------------------------------------
I'm not getting into this debate since I actually support Cuba.
And capitalism is becoming more common place in modern China."
--------------------------------------
As a note, and just for fun --- find out who Adam Smith (also known as the father of Capitalism) Karl Marx loved him.
Truly free."
----------------------------------
You make it seem like they're in chains man.
Crossing the Line is included here as well.
3. Shanghai - has the longest running gay pride in East Asia (world) March-June
4. The more and more it starts integrating cultures and people into its country the more and more it will have to start advancing and changing its policies.
------------------------------------------------
The United States didn't change its views on gay rights until 2015. Other's thought it would be, NEVER also.
--------------------------------------------------
As far as Korea ---- Do some homework.
-------------------------------------------------
That's the thing they're not bromances though.
