As he told Wanning - she made very stupid move - and if he would confirm Jiang Li is his wife then next question would be - why he buried his wife if she is still alive? and what has really happen? why for such a long time he didn't tell in public she is his late wife? etc
then his relation with Wanning and more dirt would be dig out immediately...

I do agree with you - they have been very well prepared - they knew princess will come to make a scene - and it was up to Jiang Li to either win or fail that battle... But here comes Dukes trust and understanding of her character... He knew she can do it especially with him and Emperor playing alongside the lines :)
Princess no matter how smart and cunning she is can't control herself well so she crossed the line and then defied emperors edict and gave him great opportunity to ground her in the palace.
I can't wait for her execution :)

the grave was very shallow and he dropped down the flute... So I would grab the flute and first stick it out to get some air through it and then dig out myself... at least that's possible with fresh ground... any way - I don't expect things to be very realistic in costume dramas ;)

They are happily married and have a daughter spoiled by dad and naughty as her mom :) story ends up with her out of age ceremony :)

yes - the very happy ending ;) and novel ends good 18 years later and there is an opening for next generation story ;) if author would ever decide to write new novel and include main leads in it

I decided to wait till they will air last episodes (hoping for express) and watch all remining episodes in one go... I know from the novel that its going to be a lot of hard as well as great time for them so trying to avoid that awful waiting till next day, and another next day...

but after reading some comments here I might change my mind... and ofc regret it later!
