in the book Tang Shaoyi will die in during battle in the last volume of the novel, but no idea what will happen to him in a drama...

Let's see how they are going to end up the drama... there is a very long list of different plot twists and scenes which are not true to the novel, so they might as well let Amai became an empress as they are forcing romance between her and ML...

After the novel was published readers where not happy with the ending - so screen writers could try to follow the voice of public and let Amai to leave with CYQ

That would be a huge change as he will die in the novel - if they will stay true to original ending Amai should retire from being a marshal and leave alone to find someone... she will meet out the capitol SML but still keep going alone and he will watch her figure to get smaller

Brother Tang will die in the 6th year of war in the novel, so FL shouldn't end up with him, really...

well, I do understand that you would rather keep good plots and simplify or skip boring ones - but they really wrote a lot of crappy scenes, changed ML character, added romantic scenes with no actual build up of feelings/relation

the drama is still pretty good to watch as actors performed very well but I feel a bit of disappointment as plot would be much better if screen writers could follow it up

I don't think she will end up with SYZ - in the trailers there is a scene when she is leaving palace in the female outfit which actually fits one of the ending scenes from the novel

that's so called poor screen writing... there was no such scene in the novel and ML has great archery skills...

I am reading a novel... and really can't understand why screenwriters couldn't follow up the original plot!
The first encounter between Amai and Chang Yu Qing was written much better then what drama gave us...
She and Erdnan got an order to sneak into the Yuzhou and contact general Shi...
so they decided to pretend to be a married couple and Amai to disguise as the countryside female used steamed buns as breast fillers ;) and very heavy make up which made her looking rather ruffian.
They have managed to get to the town using mule cart and she was sitting on it with a head down when CYQ was passing by with his soldiers (she was curious to see how the killer general looks like)
somehow he noticed that there is something wrong with her posture and decided to shot an arrow and she reacted and took a shot into her shoulder... but that was CYQ a trap as actually normal woman wouldn't be able to react and the arrow would just pass over her shoulder blade without hitting her...
as the result Erdnan and Amai got caught and when CYQ drag her on the horse and she was fighting with him the steamed buns dropped down .... and he thought she is a young guy who disguised himself as a woman...
in the mean time General Shi with a patrol came to check up as he heard that CYQ captured a woman on the street and CYQ is about to show him that its not a woman.... and tried to open Amai clothes when he understood the truth, she managed to grab his scimitar and put it between them and cut his abdomen... all the was hidden up by the CYQ's cloak as he has covered up Amai's body...
Any way she told him she has been an assassin send by the court to kill betrayer Shi...
why we couldn't have that plot???
what happened next was failed Chen Qi assassination attempt as Amai couldn't do it
then she was still kept hostage by the CYQ, got even forcibly kissed by him and finally managed to escape with Erdnans help to Wulan mountains...

there is so far nothing romantic between Amai and Shang Yi Zhi - he knows she is a woman but pretend to do not know that and has no regrets to treat her in the same way as the other soldiers in his army.
and he is not a silly boy like in a drama... he has sharp mind, very good military skills and is an upright person. He only has a lot of sympathy and admiration towards her... I guess his feelings will grow with a time as he really wanted her to became his consort in the future
but during the war he said that she is a rare military genius and how he can dare to treat her as a woman

Brother Tang is one of the key characters in the novel, so logically they should not kill him any soon

Yes, that's a solid part of this drama - FL performance as a male character is just great! She looks like a boy and acts like a boy! and then when we can see her dressed like a lady! whoa! whats a contrast!
btw. in the novel she was described as very tall for a lady, so she could pass as young male
also her parents came out of another place in time or space... her body had super fast healing ability - like shot through the shoulder blade would scab in 3 days!

No idea how they are going to finish it - I hope they will slightly modify original ending and let Amai to go to "A place with mountains, water, flowers and grass." together with CYQ

In the novel Amai will retire from army and leave the capitol alone with CYQ waiting for her out of the city and they will have short conversation about the future:

Amai was startled for a moment, and after seeing it clearly, he smiled, patted his horse and stepped forward, asking: "Why do you still have the guts to come here?" Chang Yuqing raised the corners of his lips and smiled, "You give the military order privately and let the enemy escape. I will come here." See if you will be executed by the emperor."
Amai said "Oh" and asked, "What if I am beheaded?"
"Then I will go back and lead the army to fight through Jingyang Pass again."
"Ah! You must be disappointed, the emperor actually let me go alive."
"Well, I'm very disappointed. I've been waiting for these few days, but it's all in vain."

this is just bad scriptwriting, YiZhi didn't kill "accidentially" Cui Yan in the novel

that was so stupid - in the book he has great archery skills and his arrows can counter CYQ arrow when he is trying to kill Amei ;)

Ha! I did the same when I found novel, just quickly run through it and now reading it properly! and its much better in terms of plot then in the drama
Its a pity that scriptwriters decided to make too many changes
In the story Wulan Mountains battle shows up how good ML and advisor were in terms of planning and preparations for upcoming attack.
They even changed roads and passages through the forests so enemy army needed a time to scout the area and update their old maps ;)

Yi Zhi doesn't look that childish and comic-kind in the novel, he is focused on leading the army and he treats Amai like the soldier since she joined the army as well as he pretends he doesn't know she is a girl - even they are already fighting in Wulan Mountains.

He has feelings for her but she will became the army marshal and his sword not his consort and at the end of the novel retire from army and leave the capitol...

She didn't kill Chen Qi in the current episodes
