It's a whole lotta of talking (very little pointers also) and I never noticed this in any drama before. Anyone feeling the same?

IRL I'd be friendzoning 'em all hahaha. I like XL's bold and playful streaks but he's big red flag as a whole. His abusiveness and lack of proper communication for sure would make me miserable. Jing's nice all around and while I like guys who go into simp mode when dating, his filial piety is a tad self-sacrificing and he won't be able to fully back me up if I get into dispute with his fam. FengLong is just no. Relationship isn't political to me and I'm not looking for a person who's mostly a buddy to me than a romantic partner. And Xuan, he's never in the equation lol. He's busy climbing up the ladder. No time to cook up romance. Although, tbh the closest would be Xuan if, his ambitiousness don't preside over his other redeeming qualities.

We're still a quarter through his layers. His further complexity and struggles will be shown explicitly in season 2 probably. I agree, I couldn't imagine someone else as CX. How he emotes – it's exactly as I hoped for and even better. His distinctive enunciation might sound weird to some but it pulls some more limelight to his character imo. I didn't have clear favourites when I read the book (they're all equally interesting) and while the ensemble all did great like I have zero complaints whatsoever, ZWY's Xuan especially captivates my attention as a viewer/book reader. Dude deserves recognition for this.

Mte. I don't normally relish harem trope but this one is done exceptionally well (acting-wise & how TH wrote them) and I agree, YZ knocks it out of the ballpark with her role.
