They are both selfish and narcissistic people that donāt really deserve much pity.
I wouldnāt compare Shen Yurong to the Princess anymore, after episode 32.
I was the first one to see SYR as evil psycho in the past but seeing how princess targeted him and turned to literally her slave (emotionally AND physically!), I am not that eager to judge his character the same way anymore.
I was pitying Ji Shuran after seeing her backstory, but at the end she became exactly like her father.
Shen Yurong is a victim after all. Itās hard to deny. And it doesnāt erase his guilt, oh no. This act of killing his own wife to save his family actually torn his mind and heart and left him broken as a human being. He never really loved Princess, he also didnāt have a choice, so he just became her slave. The panic he showed when AāLi mentioned going all against her was speaking for itself.
Heās a coward. He (almost) killed his own wife out of fear. But heās not a psychopath or narcissist as youāre stating. Iām not saying he shouldāve some kind of redemption right now but I can understand where his actions came from. Heās been stripped out of his humility, treated like a dog.
This drama has such great characters. Many of them are weaved from the best and the worst humanity has to offer…
I found it funny, people saying that princess loves Shen Yurong.
Oh no, this spoiled brat sociopath is obsessed with him and thinks about him like something she can own, not a human being with feelings.
For her own sake, she destroyed this man to the bone, stripping him of all the values heās been caring about and nurturing his whole life. He was not a bad person to begin with, itās the princess who pushed him to the edge, leaving only animal survival instinct. She could with do anything she wanted, having his motherās support and him not being from influential family who would back him up.
Heās not a man of strong personality, so whatās left is only something that looks like a human being, but in fact there is a very little whatās left from he used to be. Heās a very tragic character, when you think about it.
Ahhh, I canāt believe that I moved from hating him to pity just in one episode, but I canāt help it. Heās not a good person, but heās not even in one percent that evil as the princess or his mother.
Great that you pointed that out... Indeed he was a coward, even after he ^killed^ her, he mourned her deeply,…
But what exactly would his death bring? Heās not a malicious type of character, ājustā a coward. Itās doubtful heās gonna commit this kind of crime again. He regrets what heās done. Will be tripped with guilt till the end of time.
Going to jail and his position being taken away from him would be a good sentence. All what heās been working for his whole life would go to vain, leaving him with nothing.
Logically speaking, it he would not ākillā her, she would be dead from someone elseās hand along with his mother and sister. I donāt think there was any choice for him to begin with.
I would also much more want to see the death of his mother and psycho princess. Theyāre evil, acting with malicious intentions. Or something worse than death, I would be happy with that kind of sentence, too.
Ahh and disclaimer: I was really thinking the whole time heās a mad type of character with evil intentions. After the last episode Iāve changed my mind. He will suffer anyway, taking away his life is not a solution.
I donāt believe at all with all this, I think this whole situation will be part of a plan between Emperor, Duke Su and AāLi. MAYBE with Shen Yurong going along with them and being part of the scheme. Itās a trap set for Princess.
Great that you pointed that out... Indeed he was a coward, even after he ^killed^ her, he mourned her deeply,…
Oh, I think we have some kind of misunderstanding here, I was talking about him taking his own life, not killing A'Li. His death would be pointless right now so I would like to see A'Li using him as her own pawn for revenge.
Logically speaking, in the end of the day it looks like nobody died because of Shen Yurong. She survived, her father survived and looking at the trailer for ep33, her brother is alive, too.
Still, he's a piece of trash for what he attempted to do. There is no doubts.
Great that you pointed that out... Indeed he was a coward, even after he ^killed^ her, he mourned her deeply,…
Him killing himself wouldnāt change anything at this point. Best role he can get is becoming AāLiās pawn in her chess game to get the justice for herself, her family and poor Jiang Li.
Ok. I canāt believe Iām the one who says this but I kind of pity Shen Yurong. I was a first one in line to suspect him of being evil psycho. But!
His actions are not any less horrible because of that but I surprised myself with thinking about him not being THAT bad of a person, just horrible coward.
Knowing his background, how he was manipulated by his family and then targeted by psycho princess, I believe he really didnāt have that much of a choice. Of course, he could spare FLās life and e.g. try to hide her. He didnāt, because heās a coward. Not so smart either (apparently). He didnāt really have that much to say about her being set up in adultery as it was done by his mother.
I want him to get his karma back but Iām not so sure anymore if I want him dead. Iāve seen some trailers showing heās going to get kind of a redemption arc, also not so sure about it but letās see how itās going to be served. Fingers crossed for the screenwriters to do not mess it up.
I was exactly thinking the same how she didnāt understand why kind of person he was. She just didnāt want…
Covert narcissists are really hard to deal with. Theyāre masters of manipulation acting as nice people very well and when youāre realizing who are you dealing with, itās usually too late and youāre in full victim mode.
Studying psychology but still canāt read people At least sheāll have a support system when she is ready to…
People who study psychology often have some problems themselves. Thatās my experience from studying in this field š Some sentence said by one of the professors on the first year stuck in my head: āHave you seen anyone studying to be surgeon just to do an operation on themselves? No? Then donāt think that studying psychology will help you with your own problems. Go to therapy, seek help from outsideā
I would add that Roseās main focus was clearly child psychology, she was inspired with art project with autistic children, thatās why she wanted to follow this path.
Even if you would be the best therapist it wouldnāt make you resistant to toxic people and relationships. It may help but itās not really how it works.
I was suspecting Ye Shijie knew her identity for a while now. Heās the smartest student, so it totally makes sense. Shen Yurong was kinda obvious, if he wouldnāt notice that was her all along, he would be extremely dumb.
One thing that bothers me about fl! Why is she tolerating these! she should have made complaints, she should have…
Itās quite realistic about Rose. Thatās sheās hiding the fact how unhappy she is. From my own experience, when youāve been in a toxic relationship for a long time, youāre stripped from your self confidence and isolated from others. FXWās manipulation makes it even worse, Iām guessing she would have to admit her situation to herself first to start looking for help and make any decisions. Thatās the hardest part to begin with, admitting that youāve waisted many years on someone you donāt love and havenāt really known.
Here we go, the soulmate is here. Ahhhh I just know my heart will be broken in a million pieces š„²
