I'm on chapter 129 of 246 chapters in the book. They haven't really fallen in love yet. They haven't opened their…
I didn't even need them to be in love at this point. I *love* the trope where the distrustful and cautious male lead gets possessive in an arranged marriage. she has hurt him but he can't let her go whether or not she's a spy. so that scene should be angsty! it should have more tension! and the choice to have her on top of him (especially because she was resisting him) makes no sense. and honestly, POB is fresh in my mind. surely they could do better in comparison
I have a theory that the emperor is actually the scriptwriter, or he is really protecting nan heng. I think the scriptwriter forced SYM to beg her father to marry nan heng because in this way she doesn't defy the imperial edict and ruin her whole family, not necessarily because SYM is supposed to be in love with nan heng at this point. however for her, it confirms that the script is still happening as intended. she probably doesn't realise that the script can happen in the same way in different contexts.
the emperor also recognised that she defied her father and not the edict, so it would only end in her father getting punished. the conversation the emperor had with song side was so strange, he knows that CGH can never protect SYM the way NH would. he's driving them to be together! also, I think he's sending him to his fief to protect him somehow. my last piece of evidence is that the FL said that the script said that the method for weapon forging was a trump card left by the emperor for nan rui. but what if it was left for NH? however, even if I'm right, the emperor does not get a pass for abusing NH for so many years
OK… so like...how did we go from “chop off your hand” level drama with that expired, extra dramatic emperor…
it was a wild tone shift. although they both circled back to what happened in there when she cried about it not being fair, but our ML can't do that because he's so used to the abuse :(
Currently on ep 15Not gonna lie, I almost cried from the way the shitty emperor was treating his son. It's his…
when you put it like this, I'm thinking damn, he's going through a lot. this is why I loved episode 12 when he told her how frustrated he was that he is misunderstood
Her dying no matter what since the drama plot can't change major scenes isn't reason enough to want him out of…
its like meta tropes. mocking the tropes while falling into the trap of the same tropes. but its interesting that the scriptwriter doesn't seem to be controlling nan heng as li shiliu
His hysterical laughter after SG told him about someone 3 sons. He is like no way I am done hahaha. He got nervous…
LYN is so funny in these moments. it reminds me of the scene in POB where he had to defend himself against his wife for going to the brothel twice hahaha
I noticed how much Nan Heng's character changes in the presence of the Emperor. He becomes smaller, looks straight…
this is so true. he becomes a child again in front of the emperor. it was so clear to me when his father was choking him and he could do nothing, or when he warns SYM to be careful of what she says to him. and then with his brother his dominant nature comes back, especially when he reminds nan rui that he is older so rui should show him respect. and he's really good at eye acting too
